Ruby's Retreat - 3BR cottage in Sawyer near Warren Dunes

Newly renovated 3BR / 2 BA home located in Saywer, MI near Warren Dunes State Park and Greenbush Brewery! Sawyer is located halfway between New Buffalo and St. Joseph and is ideally situated for exploring all that SW Michigan has to offer. The cottage is located at the end of a private drive just off the Red Arrow highway. Lots of mature trees, large yard area and a huge deck make for the prefect place to relax outdoors. Brand new master bedroom with ensuite bathroom provides a relaxing retreat. The newly remodeled kitchen features light and bright finishes with a large dining area and direct access to the deck and outdoor dining area. Of the two additional bedrooms, one has a full size bed and the other includes two twin size beds. Full size washer/dryer, grill and fire pit are available for use. House also has central air! The house is kid and pet friendly with a selection of games, books and movies for your enjoyment on rainy days. Pets considered on a case by case basis and pet fee will apply. We are within walking distance of a wooded nature trail, walkable to Warren Dunes beach (1 mile from the house), and walking distance to a few nearby restaurant / cafe options. We know you'll enjoy a beach day at the dunes, relaxing in the yard, exploring the booming microbrewery / winery scene, or checking out the shops and restaurants in nearby towns.

My family and I had a wonderful stay at Ruby's Retreat. The home was perfect for us and we appreciated the well stocked kitchen. Heidi was quick with a response if we had a question and check in/out was very easy. I would definitely recommend a stay here and hope to come back again!

Heidi was very accommodating and flexible. This home was ideal for all of us - a one year old, our dog, Charlie, and 5 adults. It’s beautifully furnished and included baby needs such as a packnplay, as well as fun dog toys. We appreciated the well supplied kitchen for cooking. We loved the large outdoor deck with lots of seating options. We didn’t want to leave.

Beautifully designed and decorated home. They had a well equipped kitchen and lots of books and games, even had a record player. We appreciated being able to bring our dog along and enjoyed exploring the local natural areas. Thanks for a great stay.

Lovely place

Everything we needed was here. My family of five (and our dog) loved this little house. AC was excellent, proximity to the beach was outstanding. Smart tv/wifi was a good thing to have for the younger adults too. Enjoyed the back deck, fire pit, and the nice walk up Tower Hill Road to Brownton. We would definitely return to Ruby's place if the spot is available!

Location convenient to Warren Dunes, St Joseph beaches, Grand Mere, Captain Mikes. Excellent restaurants are all within a shortdrive. House was very clean and well stocked with necessities. An overall excellent stay. Played at Captain Mike’s (go-carts, bumper cars, boats and miniature golf). Picked blueberries, rode the carousel and visited the Children’s Museum in St Joe.

Great experience!

We spent a week and had a great time! I love how convenient they made everything providing all the necessities. We enjoyed the cookouts and being able to eat outside as a family. We also were able to make smores! Highly recommend!

Adorable place

Ruby's Retreat had great attention to detail in the house design. The ranch style home was spread out so it was comfortable and accommodating for a family. We went in July and the air conditioning was wonderful. The AC kept up with the very hot summer days. The area was nice and the house was located between New Buffalo and St Joe's. It was just a few minutes from Warren Dunes and close to many wineries/ breweries. The house is around it were nice as well, many newly renovated.The house offered a lot of details in regards to coffee and spices. The primary bedroom was beautiful as was the primary bathroom. Such a comfortable stay and would absolutely stay here again.Heidi was very communicative. The check-in process was easy and efficient.

Amazing Host & Property

The home was absolutely perfect for our little family. We traveled with our 3yr old daughter and elderly dog for a fall getaway to Michigan. The hosts were so accommodating to our questions and requests . The property is beautifully maintained and clean. Five star experience from start to finish.

Perfect place!

I was visiting Sawyer for some much-needed private time and the spot was absolutely perfect. Right away, I wondered if the hosts were architects (which they are!) because of the open/clean, understated, yet crafty-modern feel of the place. I was extremely comfortable the entire entire time and it is exactly what I needed. I would absolutely return again!

Perfect Escape!

We loved our stay with our family this past week in Ruby's retreat! The home has everything and more. The home is beautifully decorated. We enjoyed evenings on the deck and bonfires at night. It's just a little under a mile to the beach. I would highly recommend.

Loved this house!

We had a wonderful stay at this Michigan home. It was spacious, immaculately clean, and beautifully decorated. During our second night, a major storm knocked out power; the owners were in touch with us immediately, telling us where to find flashlights and lanterns, and keeping us updated on the progress of getting power restored. The house is conveniently located next to Warren Dunes and a short drive to many restaurants, breweries, etc. We absolutely loved this peaceful retreat and will not hesitate to go back!

Excellent home

The pictures and descriptions were very accurate, the place was arranged and appointed. The ease of communication and use of the home was excellent. The place is located in a quiet street with quick access to the expressway and less than a mile from Warren Dunes State Park. Highly recommend.

Great family trip

Awesome Place and Location!

My husband and had an amazing time staying at Ruby's Retreat! The house is thoughtfully decorated with all the amenities you will need. We loved the midcentury modern feel and the beds were very comfortable. The yard is perfect for games or s'more's with the fire pit. We even had a few special guests, deer every day and a family of turkeys. Super close to the downtown area as well as a couple of hiking trails and access to the beach. We will be back next year!

Hidden Gem

This cottage was a real hidden gem. The house was beautifully decorated and clean as a whistle. One of the best places we have stayed at in the area. The fall colors were at peak during our trip and my family had an amazing weekend. The location was close to the Dunes and many great restaurants. Loved that we could bring our dog with us. The host was very responsive and easy to work with. We would definitely recommend and love to come back!

Hello! Thank you for choosing our home in Sawyer for your vacation. My husband and I bought the home in 2014 because we fell in love with Sawyer and the surrounding area during our first vacation together a few years prior. We are both architects who live and work in the Chicago area. We love to explore the local breweries, forest preserves, beaches and restaurants, and our dog Ruby loves it all too. She actually thinks we bought the house just for her! We now have two young children who also love the outdoors and going on adventures with us. Since 2014 we've been steadily making improvements to the house and we think you'll really enjoy the cozy interior, expansive deck and yard, bright kitchen and brand new master suite retreat. We hope you have a wonderful stay and are happy to share our home with you.

We fell in love with the location, yard, and stately row of pines at this house and saw lots of potential. The neighborhood is quiet with easy beach access and just a short walk to a beautiful nature preserve. We also often see a family of deer wandering the property and a wide variety of birds and hawks flying overhead.
