'Nob Nest' - Perfect location, Close to Everything

This beautifully decorated mountain condo is conveniently located at the base of Sugar Mountain, with a 200-yard trail to the slopes. This condo has three bedrooms, two full bathrooms, and a loft. In the master bedroom, there is a Queen-sized bed, a TV, and a stone log fireplace to warm up by. In the second bedroom, there is also a Queen-sized bed. The third bedroom and the loft each offer two Twin beds. All mattresses have been recently updated! This unit features an equipped kitchen, a flat-screen TV and a stone gas fireplace in the living room, a washer and dryer, and a deck to relax on and enjoy the sounds of nature and beautiful views of both Sugar Mountain Ski Slope and Grandfather Mountain! No Check-in's Thanksgiving Day or Christmas Day. All guests required to sign rental agreement upon booking.

Overall good spot! Walkable to lifts and enjoyed seeing all the action from the deck. Nice condo layout for 1-2 families. Some details needs a bit of maintenance, but nothing that hindered our stay.

We loved the location as it was central to many activities. We visited during a very busy weekend with the Woolley Worm festival and App State homecoming. Hemlock Nob felt like a quiet sanctuary when we wanted to escape from all of the busy places. We would definitely choose to stay here again.

Great location!

Have stayed here twice. Great proximity to skiing. Can walk to lift line. Clean with plenty of blankets and towels.

Large condo, good location

This condo is well located, clean and spacious. The people who manage the property are very nice. The location is great. You can see the slopes from the living room. Very short drive, or walk through the woods to Sugar.

Overall good

The property was a good location, clean and provided all the necessary amenities. Check in was easy and informative. Only issue I saw was the air vents need to be vacuumed/changed.

Guys Ski Trip

Definitely don’t stay here if you plan to ski. It snowed during our stay and the road or parking lot was salted or plowed. The unit was filthy dirty look like it hadn’t been cleaned in years.

Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was somewhat dirty. I was more than happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: It was a great location! Place needs a deep cleaning and vacuuming, crumbs all under the sofas. We had two crawling kids that I dreaded putting down.

Comfortable and quaint

We enjoyed it! We could see the magic carpet and slopes through the trees. It was just a short walk to the bridge over the creek to the resort which was convenient. The walk back up can be brutal with sore legs though. The unit had the bedding arrangements needed. The living room sofas aren’t the most comfortable, but we settled in as a group nicely. I’d recommend it for ease of use alone.

Summer trip

Property was your typical mountain cabin with everything you would need for your stay. We had a good time and I have no complaints. Only thing to keep in mind for those wanting a cabin they can actually ski in/out of..this is not it. The cabin is on a high slope surrounded by dense trees. So altho its very close and u can see the parking lot of sugar mountain. You certainly can't ski or ride to the cabin. From the slope. You have to drive there

We are glad to hear you enjoyed your stay. While we do not advertise this unit as ski in/out, it is walking distance. As stated in the property description there is a 200 yard walking trail that connects the hemlock and bee branch properties to the slopes via a trail through the woods that is behind the unit. Sometimes it can be difficult to see during the summer with all of the tree growth but is visible in the winter.

The rental had a musty smell, the upstairs toilet had mildew black stuff in it upon arrival, and the microwave did not work or it was an electrical issue, and the water went ice cold after being in the shower for 5 minutes which made hygiene difficult. Other than that it was fine,. There were a variety of bed firmness levels, the beds were clean and cozy.

Not my favorite

Parking was a hassle. There are no ensuite bathrooms. The bedrooms are very strangely laid out. The primary bedroom has no closet. The other upstairs bedroom only has very small windows at the floor level. And the whole place could use a very good cleaning. It’s an old property. Which I understand, but the accumulation of dirt and dust is what I have a problem with.

Certainly spacious

Rating Details: The property manager was adequately helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was more than happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We originally reserved a slopeside roundhouse but Helene damaged that property and RRR offered this property in lieu. Accessing the property was easy enough but the trail to the ski slopes is now blocked and if you want to avoid the parking lot, you have to walk around on the road. Hemlock Nob B13 is spacious and the kids liked the loft space to sleep in the first night. Unfortunately, the master bedroom smelled strongly of what we guessed was pet urine and my wife and I had to move to the second upstairs bedroom, while the kids moved downstairs when they found the loft beds squeaky and marshmallow-soft halfway through the first night. If you plan to do any food preparation/cooking, bring your own knives, as the ones provided were dull to the point of being dangerous. Bring your own pillows too. We ended up leaving a day early. Key pickup and dropoff was easy enough through the dropbox system RRR has.

Check in was easy. The only knock on this place versus others we've stayed in was the simple courtesies were not there. No hair dryer so if you washed your hair air dry only! It was snowing!! Yikes. Cold. No salt and pepper or dish soap. So can't clean dishes in sink just a block for the dishwasher. No trash bags. The frying pan was terrible but this seems to be a trend in VRBO places so I will now travel with my own. Lessons learned. It was a challenge so we had to make do. All that said we loved the place. It only needs to hear these issues and hopefully make improvements to help their guests with simple basics of a rental. On location- The walking path to ski slopes has been boarded up with a high fence blocking it off by neighboring property. You have to take a new make shift treacherous path that has roots and a large fallen tree down which you have to climb over which dumps you into a parking lot where it's hard to get around when carrying skis with the parked cars. It felt dangerous at night in the snow so guests should be prepared and I recommend owners of condos negotiate with neighbor to get path open again or at least get the new longer path safer and remove massive tree. All things said, we'd rent this place again. I'll just be more prepared!

We are delighted you enjoyed the location and we will be sure the homeowner is made aware of your comments about the needs of the unit. Yes, Bee Branches property management did put up a fence on their property. The path for Hemlock Nob will take you to the space behind the childcare and ski school buildings. From there you can walk over to the area where they teach ski lessons and the lodge/lifts. The tree has been removed from the path, but the Hemlock Nob HOA does try to keep it very natural behind their units. We will be sure to convey your comments to their HOA board. The owner of our management company did go and walk the path. It took him about 3 1/2 minutes, but it does get dark at night and is a very natural path.

Kitchen was well stocked for cooking. Be aware the loft is a straight up ladder and very small. My 6’6” so did manage to sleep up there 2 nights. Moved downstairs last night. However, The kitchen wasn’t very well stocked. No medium size pots and the pans were very worn and no scrubbies to clean them with. There was snow and ice on the steps and porch and it didn’t seem that any salt or sand had been put down so it was very treacherous getting in & out. The location is great if you’re skiing as you can walk to the slopes and see the beginner slope from the window.

Nice place with good location for walking to slopes.

The property was great and good location! Only took about 2 minutes to walk to Easy Street slope. The only complaint I have is the water heater could not keep up. At about 10 minutes of running or 2nd person showering the water gets cold. This was after we realized on the first night both showers could only run at the same time for about 5 minutes. But we managed by running it a little cooler and spacing out showers.

Race Weekend

Parking was a bit challenging for the number of guests/cars....but it did work! We had a great time, so in the end that is all that matters.
