This beautiful property is high atop Bordeaux Mountain. All paved roads and easy entry into the driveway and property. The architecture is a blend of Caribbean and Mediterranean with New Orleans style courtyards. Tropical plants and inviting garden spaces encompass the property.


The house was completely renovated and finished in Feb. 2019. The pool has amazing views. The great room upstairs is a wonderful gather spot for and features a 70 inch smart TV. New kitchen 2019.

The price is based on the number of people who occupy the property. Nightly rate is based on a 1-4 occupancy. Each additional guest above 4 is charged a per person per nights fee. Please enter the correct TOTAL number of guests including children when booking the property. Only paying guests are allowed on the property.

The house was great. The views were spectacular. Only issue was advertised with a hot a tub and it was broken the entire time we were there. If the hot tub is an issue for you verify it's actually working before you book. No one let us k ow it wasn't working before we got tjete

The home was beautiful. The views were outstanding. The pool was great. However we were very disappointed that the hot tub did not work nor either fireplace. One of the reasons we picked Alta Vista was the hot tub. We have either a bad back or bad knees. With the snorkeling, the hot tub would have made our life easier.

Comfort, serenity, beauty, and awe.

Alta Vista was one of the most amazing VRBO properties we've ever booked. The view was absolutely spectacular... awe-inspiring! We had everything we needed to enjoy the magic of St. John. We were personally greeted by the property manager, who gave us wonderful advice for activities on the island. We could not have wished for more. We shall return.

Stunning home with a million dollar view. The house is stocked with everything you might need. Beach closet has a cooler, pool noodles, and beach games. Rooms had nice big beach bags that were so helpful for the beach. Air conditioning worked great. We enjoyed the hot tub every night and the property managers are very responsive to questions. Will only stay here if we are fortunate enough to come back to St. John in the future!

Worth the drive

Beautiful property! A bit of a drive to get there but it’s well worth it. Pool and hot tub are wonderful. Nice breeze and fantastic views add to the experience. Management team was responsive and helpful. Would definitely go back!

Wow!

All I heard all week from family was “wow! This place is nice”. The views, the comforts, the amenities (pool, hot tub) were essentially all we needed. If the island wasn’t so beautiful we may have never left. The property managers were very helpful meeting us and leading us to the house. The location is fabulous for visiting all the beaches. And, Coral Bay is close for fresh seafood and basic groceries.

Absolutely Amazing

This property is absolutely amazing! The views are spectacular. The layout is outstanding for adult kids. Everyone has their own space. The property management is fantastic. Any questions or concerns I had was answered promptly. Even if it was just questions about the island. We will be back!

Alta Vista was great, but...

Overall we loved our trip to STJ and enjoyed Alta Vista. This was our 2nd trip to STJ the same week (Thanksgiving). The thing that we disliked the most was the BUGS! Gnats or no see ums, whatever they were were awful. Our party of 6 all got ate up really bad despite putting lots of bug spray on. I definitely recommend bringing spray with you and applying it starting day 1, plus hydrocortisone anti inch cream as we bought 2 tubes while there. The views from the property were amazing. We could see all the way to Virgin Gorda on a good day. The property is beautiful, but seems like it is getting run down a little and could use some real TLC and better maintenance, and checking of the items there. For example the pool developed a LOT of green algae during our stay (8 nights), it pretty much kept the kids out of the pool. Also the gas grill was out of gas the first time we used it, despite JP saying 'it has plenty of gas' when he was giving us the walkthrough. Thankfully the property managers were able to get us a full tank the same day. 2 of the 3 snorkel masks were unusable, 1 was broken and another had mold in it. Call me a diva but I thought the bargain basement Scott's toilet paper was inappropriate given what we paid per night there, spring for some better TP please. There was a lot of good stuff despite these complaints. Having the chairs and cooler was a lifesaver. There were plenty of dishes, and the on site laundry was very nice.

Best Vacation Ever!

My husband and I stayed for a week celebrating our 25 year wedding anniversary. We had been to St. John once before and stayed near Cruz Bay, but we were in awe of the amazing views at Alta Vista and will definitely come back. The house was absolutely beautiful, really perfect, private, and everything we were dreaming of. We really enjoyed the sunset every night, the breathtaking views every day, and the hot tub was wonderful. The kitchen was well appointed and we had the best time. We can't wait to come back!

retirement stay

Lovely property with breathtaking views. People can have private spaces with the 3 bedroom options. The pool is chilly. The hot tub is divine. A 4 wheel drive Jeep is a must.

So many frogs!!!

Alta Vista is an amazing property atop Bordeaux Mountain with views of Coral Bay and the BVI. Even after the island’s brush with the storm Ernesto, the property was clean and ready for visitors. The drive up the mountain is well worth the drive and the anxiety from such narrow lanes.

Great Property, Great Views

We enjoyed our stay at Alta Vista. The property was very clean and the pool was great. The hot tub is no longer where it is in the pictures on the website. They have made the hot tub area into a planter and have a stand alone hot tub next to the old hot tub area. Not a huge deal the stand alone hot tub is fine but while we were there the cover was broken so it had a lot of bugs in it. When getting out of the pool or hot tub be careful on the darker brown tiles...they get very slippery...I recommend wearing flip flops with wet feet on the darker brown tiles. I was having a hard time envisioning the set up of the house so hopefully this will help. First, bedrooms are COMPLETELY separate. We have a 9 year old and a 13 year old so this was fine for us. There is a main house with a kitchen and the master bedroom with a bathroom and a laundry room off the kitchen. Upstairs (which is accessed by an outside staircase) has a big family room and a bar and a dining table. The main house has houses on either side that are each a bedroom with a bathroom so it is basically 3 master bedrooms. There is outdoor dining which we used every day. The table area could use a little more lighting maybe directly over it but we turned on the porch lights to make it work. The house has coolers, beach chairs and towels, snorkels, and a tent and is very well stocked with paper towels, TP, etc. I would recommend Alta Vista it was a nice, comfortable house and it does have fantastic views!

Honeymoon

My wife and I recently traveled to St John and we were so happy we ended up at Alta Vista. The pictures don’t even come close to how beautiful this house is and the views at the property were breathtaking. The company that mages the property (Eric and Beth, especially) were beyond helpful and accommodating throughout our stay and gave us plenty of great recommendations as far as where to go what to do. The house has everything you could possibly need and then some. As beautiful as St John is it was hard to leave the house everyday but so nice coming back to. We can’t recommend them enough and can’t wait to come back!

Incredible views!! Wonderful house!!

Alta Vista is an outstanding home consisting of three attached units each containing a large air conditioned bedroom and walk-in showers with king beds (one can be either twin or king). This ensures privacy and a quiet night of sleep. The pool and hot tub are totally private and overlook the Caribbean with Tortola views. The kitchen is well equipped in the main unit with a large common space accessible above via outside stairs. The large upstairs room has a fully stocked bar and refrigerator, living area with fireplace and large television, and a dining table that seats 8 comfortably. It has a powder room and access to two porches ensuring beautiful sunrise and sunset views. Our only complaint for our week long stay was the Dish satellite box was inoperative. Eric was able to get access to a couple of streaming services the last few days. The house has every amenity including personal care products and linens and towels. There is an abundance of beach gear: towels, chairs, beach tent, snorkels and fins, coolers, etc. The house is 20 minutes from Cruz Bay requiring rental of a four wheel drive vehicle to reach the top of Bordeaux Mountain. The roads are steep and curvy so not great for inexperienced or anxious drivers. We loved the tranquility of being up high but some might find it too isolated. We felt totally safe, as the house is surrounded by thick foliage with an electronic gate at the entrance. Can’t wait to return!

Just as expected!

We had a great time this past week in STJ at Alta Vista. Our first visit to the island, and we'll def be back. Family of 5 (three teenagers). The accommodations were just what we needed. Everyone had their own space but we could still congregate outside on the patio and pool area to eat and hang out. Loved the TV room upstairs for late night games and tv watching. Just a few things to help you better plan- One of the adjacent "villa" rooms comes with a king bed made from two twin beds. In the listing, the pic shows two twins. We needed the use of the two twins more than it being put together as a king, but it looked like it could have been easily separated into two twins if that's needed. The upstairs TV room was awesome and we took some card games up there to play after the sunset but before we were ready for bed. Def a nice addition!! The kitchen was set up very nicely and very easy to use. We ate at home probably half the time we were there, so def got it's use. Had a few minor things come up through the week that the property manager was extremely and timely on answering our questions or fixing the issue. Beautiful house, beautiful scenery, beautiful area!! We couldnt have asked for a better place to enjoy the week.

Absolutely Stunning

My family stayed at Alta Vista for 1 week - we had a family wedding to attend on Trunk Bay. The entire wedding party and wedding guests all stayed in/near Cruz Bay. I am so glad we decided to be a little more adventurous and stay on Bordeaux Mountain with views of Coral Bay! During the day, we traveled to nearly every part of the coast on St John followed by a nice and calm retreat at Alta Vista. The sunrises, the sunsets, the views went on forever. Not to mention the wonderful amenities at this beautiful home! My mother and father-in law came out to BBQ with us one of the evenings and they could not stop oooh-ing and ahhhh-ing over our lovely home, followed by a "umm, you're not coming over to see our place in Cruz Bay". Staying at Alta Vista was extremely relaxing and it helped us enjoy our vacation even more. Per my husband, "this was the best vacation he's ever had". We definitely would recommend to anyone wanting to stay on St John. Thanks for helping us make memories to last a lifetime!

Amazing vacation

We loved this property it is everything they say and more. You don’t need anything and the house is perfect in every way. Comfortable, beautiful and the views are amazing! Check in was easy and Eric answered all of our questions. The outdoor space is so incredible. We had two couples and it was perfect. The area is quiet and relaxing. We give the home and the whole experience from booking checking in and checking out 10 plus ⭐️
