Economical vs fancy

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very dirty. I was more than happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We enjoy this property. It is well stocked. The beds are not very comfy and we would prefer a queen rather than full downstairs. The outdoor shower and porch could use some updating but provides a great bit of extra space. Overall it is a great place to stay for the money.

Convenient location, great-value and wonderful time!

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This place has pretty much everything you need and was pleasantly surprised to find there were extras such as spices, sugar and plenty of dishes. Lots of seating for family entertaining and eating. Would definitely stay again! The only challenge we ran into was that the master bathroom shower/tub diverter upstairs was in need in of repair so we used this tub only for baths.

Nice location, fine for short stay

We only needed accommodations for 3 nights, which this house served us ok for that time. You DO need to bring paper items like TP and paper towels, which VRBO listing didn't state when we booked. Upstairs pull out sofa uncomfortable. No door on upstairs bathroom, in case that matters. Dated furniture and decor. Outside shower not working, however, when I mentioned it, it got fixed right away. Kitchen well stocked with dishes, utensils, pots and items if you plan to cook. Nice location close to things you'd expect to visit on the island. Quiet lane with other homes on it, very little traffic. Great communication, easy check in and out procedure.

July 2025

Check in was a breeze, however as soon as we opened the door, we were hit with the nauseating smell of cigarette smoke. There was also the strong smell of an air freshner that I'm assuming was trying to mask it, but the combination was disgusting. Beyond that, the place was covered in cat hair and there were crumbs and cobwebs everywhere. My wife spent an hour cleaning just so she could relax. I sent an email immediately, but it was ignored completely, in fact, as of now, I still haven't received a reply. We left the house cleaner than when we got there, so hopefully the next guests enjoy it. It took a full week to get the smell of cigaretts to be bearable. Will not rent that house ever again.

Pontos positivos: Check-in, comunicação, localização e precisão do anúncio
I primarily judge a rental on its beds. The full-sized bed downstairs was terrible - if two people sleep there, they end up rolling together into the middle of the bed. The queen bed upstairs was very comfortable and newer. The second factor I use is cleanliness. I got a bad impression because there were many cobwebs and smashed bugs on the walls. Also, bring your bug spray - there are many mosquitos along Megan Drive in August. It also appeared the cleaners forgot to vacuum the upper level. This was quite annoying because they ask you to sweep and vacuum upon departure. I have never had that be one of the departure tasks. The decor was dated but functional (except for the full bed) and the kitchen had everything we needed. The upstairs ceilings are slanted so watch your head up there, even when washing your hands at the sink. Tip for the showers – to get the water to come out at the shower spout, pull down on the ring on the tub’s faucet spout. Finally, we received a separate unexpected charge from VRBO after booking. I wish that was more clearly stated in the description.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Nice little home. Best for 4 people. Kitchen is very well stocked. Master bedroom is huge. Second bedroom is much smaller. Lots of games provided. Gas fire pit was nice. The realty agency people were very nice and responded immediately to small issue that came up.Trash day is apparently Thursday, not Monday (paperwork we were given said Monday)...but not a problem. Saw a fox drinking from neighbors birdbath. Very close to Maddox.

Had a wonderful stay at the Ocean House property!

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Came out to Chincoteague Island for annual summer vacation, and had a great time. The Ocean House property in particular is well suited for our needs... conveniently located, near to just about everything we want to get to. The inside was clean, and well set up. (We particularly appreciate the big dining table, great setting up board games, or just gathering friends/family to eat/chat.) We plan to try and stay here again next year!
