This home sleeps up to 4 people and is the perfect family getaway or a great place to relax with friends. Close to the best tide pools around and dramatic rock formations which make for a great sunset backdrop. You are just 11 miles south of Newport where you can enjoying many attractions. Just 5 miles north of Waldport and 13 miles north of Yachats. Both towns are small but with a lot to offer. Seal Rock has great shops. You can go glass blowing or stop in for some fudge. Seal Rock bakery has some of the best coffee around. Like to go antiquing? Seal Rock is the place. There is something for everyone at the Heron Beach Cottage, including your 4 legged family member. Come see for yourself today. You won't want to leave!

An ocean view and a fireplace would have been lovely, but we knew these were not part of this cottage. The beds were comfortable. The shower needs an improvement to water pressure.The location is convenient to everything we wanted to do.

OK with some reservations

Appropriately priced for size, condition/age of property.Steps into bedroom need a handrail or bright tape/paint to avoid stumbles, like we had.OK for two people but overall smallish.Quiet neighborhood.Can't recommend for seniors (70).

Great quiet location for stargazing!

Wonderful little two bedroom house with a nice Hollowell family connection. Short walk to Seal Rock beach and local shops cafes. Especially nice is Karl's wood bear carvings. Could use a picnic table in the yard but otherwise perfect!

Cozy Life

Just the right size for us and dog. Great yard, 5 minute drive to several beaches, covered porch so we could sit outside in the rain, close to everything going on in several towns up the coast. Property manager answered right away when I had a question, just all around cozy cottage. We will definitely stay here again!

Small cottage about 10 minutes walk from Seal Rock. Large grassy yard for dog to run around in and porch for outdoor eating. Kitchen has no dishwasher but lots of cooking implements. The bedrooms have no place to hang up clothes. The large step down into the master bedroom needs to be re-engineered into two steps that meet code. The chairs for the kitchen dining table are extremely uncomfortable and need to be replaced with chairs that have some cushioning. Plenty of beach paraphernalia, including towels, chairs, toys, etc. There are lots of kids games, books, etc for hanging out in the house. Don’t go on July: it was foggy the entire time and blowing on the beach 10-20 mph continuously . Wait until AugSept. Had to wear multiple layers and jacket to enjoy walking on beaches.

Inside the oyster

House is very well equipped. Toys for the beach were available for our grandson. Even though this is a dog friendly rental, there was no animal sign. Large yard. The BBQ was an added plus. The bedrooms were at opposite ends of the house, which seemed more private. We were a short walk to the beach. Thank you for sharing this with us.

Our only complaint was the very steep narrow stairs up to the room that had the twin beds. Some of the older folks in our party decided against staying in that room once we saw how odd the stairs were.

Week at the beach!

Our granddaughters had a blast in the upstairs room while my wife and I enjoyed the big one off of the kitchen. Kitchen very well equipped, we ate almost all of our meals there. Very clean, very well kept. We had a great time, loved the cottage and sharing the coast with our granddaughters, one of which saw the ocean for the first time. Beaches within easy walking distance for a five year old! We highly recommend Heron Beach Cottage!

Hazardous entry to N bedroom

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Front stairs are concrete, uneven and tilted, entry to bedroom by bathroom is NOT LABELLED as hazardous and should be. Repeated entry down to that room continues to offer unsteadiness. A lawsuit is in the future, and probably really injuring some klutz like me! PLEASE go look at the situation before someone gets really hurt.Photos of the entry to bedroom by bathroom are available, not sure I sent to you today? This is a serious risk there, that you cannot see coming, and also the from stairs. Someone is going to be hurt more than I already was. Kathryn

Adorable Cottage with All the Essentials!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Our party of 3 had a fabulous time at this little cottage for our week-long stay in Seal Rock. The cottage is cozy and kitchen well-equipped for cooking at home. There was plenty of space for us - we didn't even use the upstairs area, which would be perfect for kids. But keep in mind, the stairs are quite steep, which you can sort of see in the pictures (so, the upstairs area may not be the best for older folks/those with limited mobility). For those with bad backs, the master bedroom mattress is quite soft, but my mom slept there just fine! Our dog also loved having a yard to play fetch. Perhaps the only downside worth mentioning is the roughly 10 minute walk to the beach. It's along a short stretch of highway, but there's not much of a shoulder, but that wasn't a huge problem. (Of course, you could always drive and park in the beach parking lot!) All in all, we loved our stay and may make it a tradition of coming back every summer!

Great place--challenging getting check-in details

First off, the property: it's a cute house with a fully stocked kitchen and a mammoth yard that was popular with Steller's jays and juvenile robins during the mornings. It gets very dark at night and you can see so many stars! There's a swing, four plastic Adirondack chairs, a nice deck, and a grill (which we didn't use but it looked gigantic under its cover). The street is very quiet, as is the whole neighborhood. There's beach access about 50 yards south on 101 (look for a path with stairs by the RV Cove sign on the west side of the road). The living room is small with no coffee table, but plenty of seating (I loved the window seat--so warm and cozy in the afternoon) and the tv (one of three in the house!) is quite large, at least by our standards. The DVD system baffled us, but maybe those with more experience with such things would have no trouble with it. The bed in the main bedroom (the only one we used) is a little soft but still functional. The bathroom is on the small side but, again, functional. The main bedroom has a screen in the window but the second bedroom on the main floor does not. (In general, most of the windows don't open and there's no screen door--a little annoying for a fresh air addict.) The twin beds are in a converted attic space--the room up there is large enough (though the ceilings slant), but the stairs to get there are very steep and also narrow. I banged my shin on the stairs, and my partner worried about smashing his head on the descent. If I had agile short children who regularly climbed trees and ladders, I wouldn't worry about them sleeping up there (though I bet it's hot in the height of summer), but I'd never opt to sleep there myself, nor would I put any clumsy or distracted children up there. It was challenging to get the key code or any sort of assurance that my second payment had been received by Ocean Odyssey. I emailed and called about half a dozen times before I finally connected to someone in the office there who, happily, had no trouble giving me the code and confirming payment. Admittedly, the voicemail wasn't working on my phone, but I had given my email address several times over. That bit of uncertainty was a little bit of pre-vacation stress I could have done without. But we're all stressed these days and, it all worked out in the end. Let me add one star to that "communication" item. The beach at Seal Beach was better than expected--look for pelicans on the rocks!

The only problem we had was with the lockbox. It was difficult to open initially and we couldn't make it work at all on departure. We left the key inside the house and texted the management about the problem. Overall, the cottage was a pleasure; so much more so than a motel or hotel would have been.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This is a small cabin that was fine for just two of us but I would hesitate to book it for a larger group. The single bathroom is super small and would benefit from an exhausting fan. We kept the window open to reduce the mugginess of the home. The beds were just ok, we didn't get a great nights sleep, but it was fine. It's a cute place but in need of a remodel/refresh/update and better ventilation. There was not easy access to the beach from the home but the very large yard was a nice amenity.

Small and clean bathroom with plenty of towels. Kitchen was well stocked, including a good variety of utensils, pots and pans, and tableware. Stable wi-fi. The beach was within walking distance, even for us seniors, though the weather this time was quite unpredictable and dramatic - from sun to rain to hail and back to sun! We loved it! The staff at Ocean Odyssey Vacation Rentals provided all the necessary details as needed. We would stay here the next time we visit the Oregon coast.
