Set in native bush, private section surrounded by reserve and trees. 1 min drive to Kuratau boat ramp or a couple of minutes to the Omori Boat Ramp.

Surrounded by reserve land including bush walks to the lake, 5 mins walk from the children's playground, petanque, basketball hoop, tennis courts, meadows and community hall. Plenty of walking tracks to be enjoyed within the Kuratau/Omori/Pukawa catchment area.

Lake Taupo trout just waiting to be caught and smoked to your taste.

Only 45 minutes drive to Whakapapa skifield, Tongariro Crossing, National Park.

A must do on everyone's bucket list!

Great bach

Very nice bach. Well located if you want to be on the west of the lake, very close to Kuratau and Omori boat ramps and beaches, 20 mins from Turangi. Lots of room and beds, perfect for a large group.

Ideal for teenagers

The sleep-out is a massive plus, it was great for everyone that the teenagers had their own hut. We loved the deck and outdoor area. Furniture are quite dated but the kitchen is super well equipped and we did not miss anything. Quite central and a short walk or ride to different parts of the lake. Nice walks through the reserve right on your doorstep.

Perfect extended family getaway

This is a great property with a real family feel, you can see the care the owners have taken to make this Bach a real vacation. The native bush setting is private and its only a short walk to the lake edge. Everything you need is onsite, I would thoroughly recommend Thistle -do. Easy to book - no fuss - simple entry/exit. Kuatau is a sleepy settlement even on a busy summer weekend. It was our first visit but hopefully it won’t be our last.

Family Occasion

Thank you for allowing us to stay at your accommodation. We made ourselves at home - which was easy, as everything is already there to use. Just one thing - the TV kept dropping out & we weren't sure how to fix it so the kids watched their tablets instead. Simple instructions to follow made our stay that much more comfortable.

Thistle Do

Thistle Do is a comfortable, quiet, private bach surrounded by bushes at Kuratau. We stayed for an enjoyable week for our family holiday - a group of 11. There was plenty of room for us all and being lockwood it was quite soundproof. The highlight was definitely the amazing pressure in the showers. The Bach is a walk of about 10 mins away from the Lake. It is quite steeply downhill on the way there so is steeply uphill on the way back!

Judy and her family were great guests and we were pleased to host them. The bach is 2 minutes drive to the boat ramp and the lake. For those who like walking, there is the option of walking down the steep path to the ski lane or you can take the gentle slope down the roadway which might take a few minutes longer.

Much needed break

We were extremely happy with this property it was well equipped lots of room and the sleep out was brilliant giving a couple their own space to chill and lax out. Our pre teens loved their space and all slept in the one room with the bunk beds leaving a whole room unused! As soon as we arrived they had a dvd on (good selection) found the selection of board games and well just explored. We went to tokaanu thermal pools after dinner great way to finish our evening. Beds were so comfortable kitchen was well equipped I cooked us yea as soon as we got in pretty much. I highly highly recommend this bach. We will be back again if you’ll have us Thankyou very much

We had an awesome stay at this bach, has EVERYTHING you need! loved the split spaces that allowed the teen to hide away! comfy beds, full kitchen and the BBQ and outdoor space was well used with such stunning weather! Plenty of room on property for the boat to be parked off the road. great instructions for check in and out which made the process smooth and easy. Thanks SO much for allowing us to stay, I think it will become an annual holiday spot!

A hidden gem

This place was perfect for our needs, quiet and secluded, and within an hour's drive of the skifield. Check in was easy, everything worked everything we needed was available. No wifi which I definitely consider a plus.

Great for Family Get together

We were a family group 13 with young children. The house worked really well for us. It was well appointed and well equipped. We loved the outdoor space ,bush and bird life. It was an easy walk to the lake, even pushing a buggy. Thank you for sharing your property we would definitely stay again.

Wonderful stay

We had a wonderful stay at Thistle Do, with 15 of us staying for a long weekend. It was perfect for what we were after, private and spacious with lots of great bush walks around it. 10 minutes walk to the lake for a swim. It was well stocked and very well maintained. We can't wait to return again next year!

Beautiful, peaceful & private location with easy access to the Lake.

Beautiful, peaceful & private location with easy access to the Lake. Bach was very comfortable, contained everything we needed and easily fitted our two families. Would happily rent it again.
