Our cozy, country, chic apartment is the perfect getaway for two! This private space offers everything you need! If you're coming enjoy upstate New Yorkā€™s gorgeous Finger Lakes, this is the place for you! Weā€™re about 30-40 minutes from everywhere....the bustling college town of Ithaca and Cornell University, as well as NASCAR in Watkins Glen, wineries, and state parks. But, if a quiet, secluded stay is what youā€™re after, step out onto the private deck and enjoy a cozy fire while the sun sets!

LOCATION:
Nestled on our peaceful property, our VRBO sits on a tranquil, dead-end road with minimal traffic. Located in the quaint town of Van Etten, weā€™re just minutes from a Dandy Mini Mart and a charming year-round ice cream parlor. A short drive to Spencer offers additional conveniences, including a small grocery store, gas station, pizzeria, Dollar General, and a cozy diner. Our small-town charm comes with early closing hoursā€”most businesses close between 8-9 PMā€”so we recommend stocking up on groceries or grabbing takeout before arrival, as delivery services are unavailable. Larger cities are about 25-30 minutes away, so plan accordingly.

Weā€™re on the outskirts of Van Etten, yet just 20-30 minutes from Ithaca State Parks, Watkins Glen, and 40 minutes from the wineries of Seneca and Cayuga Lakes. No matter the season, the views from our property are breathtaking.

This cozy apartment is tucked behind our detached garage, offering privacy while sharing a driveway and garage entryway. Once inside, you'll feel like you have the place to yourself, with a covered back porch overlooking the peaceful backyard.

Please note: You may see our children playing in the yard or tending to their chickens, but they also know to respect your privacy and will not disturb you. Additionally, we have friendly, free roaming chickens and geese.

**5 inch step into the stand up shower

**There is only a 20 gallon hot water tank. (shorter showers)

**We have a wireless extender in the house. It usually works, but coverage in this area is unpredictable. We cannot guarantee internet that will work 100% of the time. AT&T and Verizon service is great though! Plan accordingly.

**No pets! Although we love furry friends, our dog lives on the property and is not a fan of sharing his space with other dogs. Sorry!

**We live in the country. That being said, insects do find their way into the apartment on occasion.

**We highly recommend good snow tires in the winter as our road is a hill and our driveway is also an incline and can get slippery.

**This is a smoke free property.

We enjoyed cooking every night in our hosts' excellently equipped kitchen. Alicia and Fred Mills were both very friendly, oblidging and accessable. Sunset View apartment has great viewsof well manicured grounds overlookingthe mountains. You can grill steaks and toast smores on the fire pit right on the back porch where deer visited us every morning. The whole apartment has been tastefully an thoughtfully renovated with top notch fit and finish.Would have loved to spend more than the five nights we had. Highly recommend this space and our hosts.Great central location for Finger Lakesadventures. Don Simmons

The property was perfect. I was there for work so unfortunately was only able to enjoy the early morning views. Iā€™m sure the sunset views are even more incredible. The place was very comfy and had everything you would need for a comfortable stay. Hopefully I will have a chance to visit again!

This felt like our home away from home. We did lots of hiking, the Corning Glass Museum (which was fabulous), Cornell Botanic Gardens, a brewery, and winery! The location was perfect for Ithaca and Corning. The place was very well equipped and even had lots of extras. Thank you to the Mills!

We had such a wonderful stay here! The place was absolutely charmingā€”beautifully designed, cozy, and perfectly situated in the countryside near Watkins Glen and Ithaca. Everything was spotless and so thoughtfully set up, with little touches that made it feel extra special. The Nespresso machine was a total treat in the morning and we loved relaxing by the fireplace table out back in the evening. The host was incredibly kind and even offered us fresh eggs from their chickens, which was such a sweet gesture. Highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for a peaceful and memorable getaway!

We stayed here three days while taking our daughter to Cornell and doing family orientation. The location is about 20 to 30 minutes from Cornell, but it suited us OK for that and did not mind the country drive in and out of town. The host is very aware of everything you could need, and the home is stocked well. We had bought some food from Wegmans for a little bit of meal making, and the host had left us some zucchini, peppers, fresh eggs, and basil which added to our wonderful morning breakfast before the move-in day. We were so thankful for the spot to come back to yes yes, my poop, and rest every night. Very cozy and welcoming!

This is a quiet place in a beautiful location. We were visited by many colorful birds, a chicken and a deer! This place has everything you could need if you want to cook, which we did. There were many nice touches, including fresh farm eggs. There are no steps to enter and it was very comfortable. Many thanks to our hosts. We highly recommend!

Beautiful and quiet! We we're greeted with a welcome sign and fresh eggs from the chicken coop. Gorgeous view and friendly felines named Penny and Cheddar also greeted us. We didn't want to leave. We dropped our 1st born off to college and this was a retreat on our way back to our other 2 kids. We loved it. Beyond clean and they really thought of everything. Right down to what birds were at the bird feeder with a bird book guide. We highly recommend this rental and hope to go back.

This rental property is hands-down one of the best weā€™ve ever stayed in. It was absolutely spotlessā€”something I especially appreciated as someone whoā€™s usually anxious about cleanliness in hotels. The hosts, Alicia and Fred, were incredibly kind and attentive. We happened to visit during a heat wave in New York, and Alicia checked in with us multiple times to ensure the space stayed cool and comfortable. Every aspect of our stay was flawless. If youā€™re planning a trip to the Finger Lakes region, this is truly the perfect place to stay. And without a doubt, if we return to the area, weā€™ll book this place again in a heartbeat.

My boyfriend and I stayed at this lovely cozy place for one night. Alicia and Fred are super friendly and helpful. The space is perfect for 2 people. Lovely thoughtful touches all throughout. We enjoy spending time outdoors with our family, gardening, spending time on our pontoon boat on Cayuga Lake, visiting state parks, and relaxing on the back porch watching the sunsets!

With a full kitchen and grill outside, you can make your own meals and eat them on the covered, back porch (weather permitting). Or you can drive to one of the surrounding towns and eat out. With Ithaca, Elmira, Owego, Waverly, and Sayre close by, there are many restaurant and tourist options. We highly recommend visiting one of the state parks while here! Ask us about our favorites!
