The place was beautiful. They could have dusted the ceilings a little bit. There were a lot of spider webs. Granted we were on the creek so we expected things like that. The home layout was great for 9 people. Dog friendly. When we got to the property our door code did not work. They were very quick to resolve it. Trash cans got full and we requested a trash pick up and it was done the same day. Very quiet area but less than 5 miles to the main strip. I would recommend staying there.

The house was great, the river was so nice to wade in and float in The host was very prompt and easy to communicate with. The property is close enough to make quick easy trips to the nearby entertainment, but far enough away to escape the madness of it all.

Our stay was wonderful. I do want to say that access to the water was quite steep and difficult to get in and out. The water is only about waist deep, which is good but I think it’s good info to provide. Suggestion to the host, add some steps from the steep yard and some steps into the water. This would make the experience 100% better. Also would be nice to have some basic items such as salt, pepper, stevia. Otherwise the stay was amazing!

Best Vacation Ever !

This place was the perfect getaway !! It was cozy and comfortable. We all felt at home. The back porch was my place to be, for I had broken my arm 5 days prior. The little pigeon River was the kids favorite spot. Swimming, tubing, fishing, and catching minnows, they did it all!! Will definitely be back!!

We enjoyed staying at River Retreat over Thanksgiving holidays because the bedroom count was large enough for our family and separate enough for privacy. We had 6 adults, 3 children and 1 dog. Everything was clean and set up for Christmas. The access to the river was great, even though there was a fire ban, the outdoor seating and fire pit were inviting.

Overall what we needed

The house was nice and we enjoyed our stay. The only thing a little off putting was the amount and size of the cob webs on the front porch. The inside was clean and that’s what truly matters.

Overall it was a great property in a good location right on the river (which the dogs loved!) However, a little more attention to detail would have been great for the price. To start WiFi network and login instructions were incorrect. Network name was completely different and was never able to get the info (after messaging property manager). We had to use hotspot to connect the items we needed for the baby. We also had to make a store run and purchase batteries for all the remotes as all but one remote had the batteries missing. Refrigerator was flooded when we got there and had to use the roll of paper towels to clean it out before we could use it. The backyard’s grass was very long and trash from previous renters on the ground. The layout of the cabin was great for our large family. We all had our own space.

Short Getaway

Cabin was clean. Location was convenient. Being on the river was beautiful. I read all other reviews and could tell that the host has tried to remedy concerns previously listed. If the back gutter isn’t replaced, you’ll be in need of some roof work - not a complaint, just an fyi.

Liked the river in the back, lots of space in the house. Carpet needs badly replaced, areas of floor had exposed tacks, which caused injury to little toes. Plus with being pet friendly, carpet is not a good choice.

Will not rent again

Dirty, outside grass needed to be mowed as you had to walk down hill to river, needed weeding as could not reach the river or fish, dishwasher nasty and stank, entire property needed work as tree limbs fell on hood of my car and slightly dented it, trash and scrap metal laying in back yard and around fire pit food and something stuck to floor - floor was not mopped - overall dirty and pitiful and cost way to much money for what we got

That sounds incredibly frustrating, and we’re truly sorry your stay felt so disappointing. It’s absolutely not okay that the property was in that condition, and we really wish we had known while you were still there so we could’ve stepped in to help. We completely understand how upsetting it must’ve been to deal with overgrown areas, a smelly dishwasher, and debris outside—none of that should’ve been overlooked. The safety issue with the tree limbs and the condition of the floors are especially concerning, and we’re genuinely sorry for the trouble it caused. Your feedback is being taken seriously and shared with the team so this doesn’t happen again. We hate that this was your experience and deeply regret that it felt like a poor value.

Spring break

The ants were the worst part. They were everywhere. I got up one morning and there were 3 on my pillow and more in the bed. My husband had more on his side of the bed. We also had ants in the master bath sink area. They were all in the kitchen. We stored our food in the microwave and fridge to try and keep the ants out. We also had to go to the store for paper towels and toilet paper. They provided 1 roll of paper towels and 1 roll of toilet paper in each bathroom. Would have been nice to know in order to prep better.

We apologize for the ant issue you experienced during your stay. We understand how distressing it must have been to find ants in the bed and other areas. We've taken immediate steps to address the problem with pest control. We're also sorry for the inconvenience of the limited paper products. Your feedback helps us improve, and we'll ensure future guests are better informed about what to expect. We appreciate your patience and understanding. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

The BEST 1st Experience of Cabin Vacationing EVER!!!!

We Absolutely Loved everything about this cabin! It was definitely big enough four two adults and 3 teens! The kitchen had practically everything you could imagine when it comes to cooking I mean, they even had three electric can openers and different sizes even a blender multiple pots and pans I mean they even had multiple pizza slicers! I could go on and on about what they provided in the kitchen alone! There was the pool table and it had everything with it. Besides, I would suggest that they probably need to replace more pool stick chalk to be available because It’s basically out now after us enjoying the pool table so much! The hot tub was absolutely amazing. The only thing I could complain about that is that apparently it has a light feature in the light feature didn’t work, but everything else was 100% perfect and worked amazing! I really and truly couldn’t Complain about anything that I was specifically upset about when it comes to this cabin! I would definitely suggest recommend, this place to my friends and even possibly rent it out again futuristically for my family!!!!

Book if you like: a busy road, rustic accommodations & poor maintenance

This property is located on a busy road. We could hear traffic all night. It is difficult to turn left out of the property. The front is near the road with an "island" overgrown with vegetation. It is also located on a small lot on a steep slope down to the river. Holes under the tree need to be filled. The yard is full of debris from prior guests. To get to the river, you need to walk through a steep muddy path, drop is about 7 ft. The front and back porches are filthy and covered in cobwebs. The backyard is full of mosquitos. There is only one course of brick on the firepit, kindling is sparse. The charcoal grill is all rusty. Trash receptacles on site are not animal proof, we had to clean up a mess several mornings when animals got into the cans. The 1st floor bedroom is ok but the bathroom is super small & dated and the vanity is in the bedroom. The primary closet is a walk in but the owner is using for storage & there are no clothes hangers anywhere in the house. When you walk into the primary bedroom, you are greeted by a large stain on the carpet. Also, the bathroom vanity doors are falling off. The kitchen cabinets are worn, no Keurig, no sharp knives. Dishwasher is not fastened under counter, door is broken. Old food crumbs in cracks on the table. The front burner on the stove doesn't work. Ants are all over the counters. Dryer doesn't work. Rocker on the porch is broken. Only 3 chairs at the firepit. Internet & TV are spotty. Maintenance unresponsive.

Fun in the woods

The cabin was very nice and roomy, great location for me and my family we loved that it was not deep in the woods. Game rooms were fun, and bathrooms were clean. Some concerns

The property was as described. However the kitchen desperately needs silverware the dishwasher did not clean the dishes. The washer and dryer is open for everyone to see in the family room and it took 2 days to dry a very small load. I think that it should be listed that the house is on a busy main road. The sleeping arrangements worked great for my family. I just think with the price we paid it should have had working dishwasher and washing machine and dryer. We had to go buy plastic utensils sue to not having enough. Also the carpet needs to be replaced in the lower part of the house.
