Youā€™ll love your stay in our unique 3BR/3BA beach house at Lost Colony! We have some of the best Gulf views on the island, plus a deck for enjoying them. Stroll the private boardwalk to the beach. Or cool off at Lost Colonyā€™s shared pool, just steps from your front door.

INSIDE THE HOUSE

Kick back and relax in our large living room, watch TV on the flat-screen with cable, and deal a game of cards at the adjacent dining table. Or cook full meals or pack snacks for the beach in the fully stocked kitchen, which includes all appliances.

This house sleeps nine comfortably across three bedrooms. The master bedroom has a king bed and its own private bathroom. The second bedroom has a queen bed, and the 3rd bedroom is a bunkroom with a full-over-full bunk and a twin-over-twin bunk.

Two more baths make it easy for everyone to get clean after a day at the beach!

THE LOCATION

Everything you need for a relaxing beach getaway is here at Lost Colony. Itā€™s about a 10-minute drive to downtown Port A ā€“ just far enough for peace and quiet. The Lost Colony boardwalk takes you right to an unpopulated stretch of beach, and the community pool is just steps away.

If you are bringing a dog on your trip, the pet fee is already included in your quote when selecting ā€˜Yesā€™ to pets. If you would like to add more dogs, please contact us.

Parking notes: There is free parking available for 2 vehicles.

Please note: this home resides in a noise-sensitive area and the owners participate in our Good Neighbor protection program. Our smart home technology will alert our team if excessive decibel or occupancy levels are detected, allowing us to reach out directly with a reminder of maximum occupancy and quiet hours. This technology is privacy compliant, and only monitors the presence of decibels and devices-not any personal conversation or information. Thank you for supporting our efforts to be good neighbors!

Damage waiver: The total cost of your reservation for this Property includes a nightly damage waiver fee, plus tax if applicable (the ā€œDamage Waiverā€). (A discount may be applied for stays of 28 nights or longer, if permitted.) The Damage Waiver covers you for up to $3,000 of accidental damage to the Property or its contents (such as furniture, fixtures, and appliances) as long as you report the incident to the host prior to checking out. The Damage Waiver fee eliminates the need for a traditional security deposit.

The property was great, my only small complaint was the lack of information on the listing around which floors the rooms were on. I think it would be helpful to list how many floors there are and which floor each room is on to know how many stairs would be needed to climb for each person in our party. The beach proximity was fantastic and the house was stocked perfectly to allow us to do everything needed. I'm not sure there are many properties in the Port A/Padre area that have such quick access to the beach, which is also a very low traffic stretch. We will definitely stay here in the future, it was great for our family.

Pleasant Stay

We stayed a week at Lost Colony with another family. We really enjoyed our stay. We had an issue with the breaker which turned off the power to the dryer. Guest services was able to contact me very quickly and resolve the issue within a few hours. I was impressed with the response time and how helpful they were. The beach access was very convenient. I highly recommend staying here.

Pros: Super close to beach Great decks with view of ocean Close enough to restaurants, bars, and shops All the kitchen tools you could need Plenty of beds Some board/card games for family Cons: House is rough around edges, could use some paint and new furniture but whatā€™s there is usable. Back door is real hard to open Checkout is early TVs are a bit small and apps work just ok. Got the job done. To wrap up, my family had a great time. We are hoping to come back next year. The location is perfect, itā€™s not so close to the touristy spots that you have to deal with golf carts everywhere, but close enough you can go if you want to. Beach is literally out the back door. We didnā€™t use the pool but it looked good. Place is pet friendly and has no shared walls so you donā€™t have to worry about neighbors unless your dog is super loud. We were sad to leave and really hope to come back. Weā€™d stay here without hesitation.

Comfortable and Convenient

Beautifully decorated home with very comfortable furnishings. Amazing ocean views from the main floor deck and the upper floor master bedroom. House is located in a quiet area just outside the main path to the beach boardwalk. Conveniently located just steps from the boardwalk, yet away from any (minimal) noise from the community pool area.

Rustic beach house, well loved. This place has its bruises and blemishes but itā€™s comfortable and super close to the beach. Took us probably 2 minutes from front door to beach. Thereā€™s a small pool thatā€™s plenty of fun for kids. Kitchen has just about anything you need to make and serve dinner, a nice sized sink and a couple ways to make coffee. Plenty of beds, my kids loved the bunk beds. Location is great, short drive to restaurants and other touristy things but far enough away you donā€™t have to fight with golf carts everywhere. 30 min drive to Texas state aquarium, 15 min drive to HEB, etc. Balcony and porch are great places to hang out and have a drink, listen to the waves. Yeah thereā€™s some rust, some dings, some rubbed off paint on the baseboards and cabinets, none of these things affected my enjoyment. The only bugs I saw were all outside. The AC was cold, the internet worked but it would hiccup for a couple seconds here and there. The mattresses were a bit thin but I slept fine. The rental company responded quickly to all questions. My family had a blast and we plan to be back and stay longer.

Dirty/needs updates

Location and actual space was good. However, dirty. Shower upstairs needed cleaned, the top bunk beds had sand in the corners, the floors needed swept and mopped as well. Place also needs updates. Decking needs updated, along with paint, doors, etc. plus the power was out 12 of the last 24 hours we were there. No refund or anything when I asked. It was night outside. No back up generators or anything

Great!

We loved the proximity to the boardwalk and the house itself. The decor was very beachy and calming. The a/c was nice and cold. Lots of stairs but great handrails. King and Queen on 3rd floor with great bathrooms. Bunk beds on second floor with living & kitchen. Only washer and dryer in 1st floor. Beach view was nice. Our dog loves chilling on the deck with us.

We had some hiccups and bumps when we got there. They did address our concerns. They might need a new cleaning company or kindly reminder. The views were amazing and the walk to beach out did some of that bad.

Couldnā€™t have asked for a better location! Gulf views from both balconies, boardwalk just around the corner with direct access to the beach, 10 minute drive into town. Usually while in vacation, the only thing I yearn for is my own bed, but the beds here are SO comfortable. All the rooms are a great size too. Only negative is there are some stickers in the grass that would catch on the dogsā€™ feet, though with sand it comes with the territory. But otherwise very dog friendly! Gate on the balcony lets them enjoy being outside without being able to go anywhere

Perfect location, great views, small private community.

Amazing!!!! This location far exceeded our expectations!!! You can hear the waves from every spot of the property. The two decks are amazing with great relaxing furniture and fun bird watching! The beds are comfortable and the hosts provided everything...to include hand soap, body soap, shampoo, and conditioner! We prefer to cook at least one meal a day to avoid cost of eating out and they had every item we needed. The kitchen/dining room table is not only great for eating but for playing games with family and friends and feeling a breeze blowing in while listening to the waves.

Great Location, Stunning views. But

This home could be phenomenal. Feels like itā€™s been overlooked and forgotten about. Lots of little things need updating and the smell as you walk in is a bit overwhelming. Smells like a cleaner trying to mask other smells. But the view! And the location are 5 stars.

Great location. Access to the community pool and beach is very convenient. Overall the house is nice, but needs some updates from wear and tear. Big problems were serious mold problem in the upstairs bathroom ceiling and the deck gate lock is so rusted it will not latch. These are not recent problems, so no telling how long they have been an issue.

Great rental, a few caveats

Excellent location on Mustang Island with a 5 minute walk to beach on a nice boardwalk. Views cannot be beat - over the dune to the waves. This is a group of individual 3-story houses closest to the beach, in a gated area, many family owned. House needs some TLC which may be why is it a lower cost than it's neighbors, but still a great rental. When you rent through VRBO, this links into another vacation rental system called Vacasa. The auto-generated Vacasa system was not a good experience - too many texts and when we had a small issue, we were requested to write up a ticket with photographs, etc. Not doing this while on vacation! But we also had the name of a real person who worked at Vacasa named Heather, and she solved our issue immediately, and was very helpful with other questions. Kitchen was well stocked with dish and cookware - but bring your own spices including salt.

Not Good

There was a roach infestation. The floors were filthy. A sink was backed up and full of water on arrival. The management was apologetic but the ā€œlocal teamā€ was not responsive. Took two days for them to come fix the sink. We deserve a sizable refund considering the kitchen wasnā€™t usable because roaches were crawling on the food prep surfaces. They did offer to fumigate DURING OUR STAY. I can see from past reviews they havenā€™t done anything about the roach infestation. Donā€™t stay here. There are other places that are managed by people who care.
