Gather together with family and friends in quite country atmosphere. Experience the peace and serenity of days-gone-by when you stay in this spacious, completely renovated four-square farmhouse located in a quiet dairy farming neighborhood, five miles east of Cumberland and ten miles west of Rice Lake. This home is perfect for family gatherings, crafting get-togethers or relaxing vacations. Enjoy watching the bird activity in the massive oak trees as you sip your morning coffee on the beautiful front porch. Both children and adults will enjoy outdoor activities in the massive back yard, surrounded by crops in the field and cows in the pasture. In the winter try cross-country skiing or snowshoeing through the fields and woods.

You will enjoy preparing meals in the spacious modern country kitchen with large center island. Relax in the large open living room with its media center, then sleep peacefully when you retire to the large bedrooms with their comfortable queen beds.

Beautiful clear water lakes are plentiful within a few miles of the farm for boating, fishing, and swimming. Explore unique shopping & entertainment experiences in picturesque Cumberland, Rice Lake and other nearby towns. Just a short drive will take you to tourist attractions in Hayward, or to St. Croix Casino in Turtle Lake. Whether you are looking for excitement or relaxation it is all yours when you stay at the Farmhouse Retreat.

Great place to go when needing to "run away from life" to relax. Hostess was very pleasant and helpful. House was very well supplied with anything you might need or want, loved the kitchen. Would definitely stay again if needing a place in the area.

The Farmhouse Retreat was a wonderful place for our annual family gathering. We enjoyed the house and its history as well as the beautiful, serene property. Everything was there that we could have needed or wanted and Diane was so friendly and welcoming. It was so enjoyable that we’ve already booked for next year.

You’re in farm country with cows next door! Very peaceful and uber clean house. Lots of space and central AC. Would have been nice to know that we needed to bring our own coffee (coffee maker and Keurig machine provided). Nice property!

This was our third year staying at your property for our sibling week. We have it booked for number four which should say it all. Clean and spacious country setting. Kitchen had everything you need. Rest and relaxation in the country

My family stayed at this lovely property while attending a family reunion. The house has everything you need for a comfortable stay - plenty of space, comfy beds, and full baths with fluffy towels. The house is decorated with mementos and photos that tell the history of the farm. We spent mornings and evenings on the front porch watching the birds and enjoying the beautiful trees. The house is also conveniently located to some great local restaurants. Our hosts were gracious and helpful, and they made the entire process easy.

Fabulous location, beautiful house and wonderful host!

We rented this for our in-laws to stay at for our daughters wedding. The house is beyond beautiful! It is so warm and welcoming. The views from all the rooms make you relax instantly. We will definitely rent this again when we are in town.

Good not great

It's a perfectly fine place, appreciate it being available since there aren't many rentals in the area. Pretty close to town, mostly peaceful at night despite highway noise, decorated with family heirlooms. Ample space, has all the basics you'd expect, just probably wouldn't choose to stay there again.

The minute we walked into the Farmhouse, we felt at home. It was so cozy and comfortable. We had everything we needed. Our host, Diane was very responsive and welcoming. We'll stay again!

This place w a s a beautiful and peaceful place to stay. Cows across the road for an interesting view. There were lots of bird feeders to watch the birds. The yard has big old trees that are gorgeous. The livingroom has lots of very comfy furniture and the beds are comfy, too.There are good hiking options in the area, as well.

Work Trip

The house was great. Beds were comfortable and the showers had great water pressure. We were there for work so that is all we needed but it’s a great place to stay for any reason.

This farm has been in my family since 1891 when my grandparents purchased the land from the Knapp-Stout Lumber Company. They cleared the land, built the farm, raised their family, and it has been the center of family activity since those days. In 2008 my husband and I completely renovated the house, inside and out, and it has since continued to provide the perfect gathering place for family and friends. We now would like to share this special place with you with the hope that you will enjoy your time in this special place as much as our family.
