Cozy A-frame Chalet located on a private road with gas burning fireplace and outdoor fire pit. Centrally located for skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, fly-fishing, cycling, snowmobiling and exploring all the Adirondacks have to offer. Sleep accommodations up to 6 guests: 1 bedroom with queen size bed, spacious loft with double size bed and living room with queen size sofa bed. Large deck with propane grill and Adirondack chairs overlooking large front yard, for kids and dogs to play, with views of Whiteface Mountain. After a day of enjoying the outdoors, or a day in town, relax at the chalet by the indoor fireplace or roast marshmallows outside by the fire pit. High speed internet access allows for all streaming devices and working remotely. 5 min drive to base of Whiteface Mountain Ski Resort, 8 min drive to Whiteface Veterans Memorial Highway and Santa's Workshop, less than 15 min scenic drive to downtown Lake Placid/Mirror Lake and all Olympic venues including ski jump, ice skating rink, bobsledding, and so much more. Note: Guests provide their own linens: sheets, pillow cases, bath & hand towels.

This cozy chalet was the perfect place to relax and unwind after some cold drizzly days of hiking. There was more than enough room for two of us to cook, read, and plan the next day. The inside was warm and cozy and had some games for us to play. The kitchen has all the pots, pans, and plates needed to cook your own meals. The chalet also has a good view of some mountains behind a thin tree line and enough open air to see the the faint hue of the milky way on a dark night! On top of that, the host, Dana, was very responsive whenever we had questions. What a great place to vacation!

Great location and great outside property. The listing states no linens or towels which is okay, but was at least expecting a dish towel to dry dishes (considering you're expected to dry and put away dishes before leaving). Had to vacuum some flies and beetles off the floor. Electrical setup is odd as other reviews have stated (switches in closets, outlets being a bit loose, extension cords). One burner on stove did not work. The pull out couch was also quite dirty with different colored stains covering the mattress. Not sure where the cleaning fee gets put to use overall. Porch and firepit areas were great. Access to surrounding areas was great.

We stayed here Fridayā€“Sunday with two friends and my partner. The chalet itself has a nice setup with an electric fireplace, A/C, and a cozy atmosphere, but overall our experience fell short of expectations. We arrived late due to traffic and were disappointed to find that the beds had no linens. To be fair, the listing does state that guests must bring their own, but given the cost per night plus the tacked on cleaning fee, that policy feels unreasonable compared to other rentals in the area. On top of that, we found a dirty sock in one of the beds, which was not a great first impression. The chalet is small, and while itā€™s functional, the electric setup with multiple long extension cords didnā€™t feel very safe. The outdoor deck and seating are nice touches, and the location is convenient to Whiteface and hiking trails, but for the price, weā€™ve stayed at much nicer places nearby with better value. Overall, it worked for the weekend, but we wouldnā€™t book again.

Couples Retreat

Very well maintained property that is nicely set up to accommodate 2-4 people. It has all the basics and the renovation presents a nice atmosphere that is enjoyable. Certainly a location many people come back to stay at and is conveniently located next to Whiteface and Lake Placid.

Peaceful house in Adirondacks

This was my first hiking trip in the Adirondacks and this little house was just perfect for my visit. All the comforts of home from the welcoming living room to the nicely stocked kitchen to the beautiful outdoor setting. Very quiet neighborhood in the woods but easy to get to the places I wanted to explore. About a 20 minute drive to Lake Placid. Enjoyed the gas fireplace! Canā€™t wait to come back next fall because there is so much to do in this area!

Love staying at this house. By fare the best rental in Wilmington...the location is close to everything...we hike..bike...swim...thank you to the home owners for making it so easy to check in and out...will be back...

The Wilmington A-Frame was everything we needed to spend our time in Lake Placid. Everything was just as described and pictured. Dana was great to work with! Our family would defiantly stay here again.

Second Time Visit

This was our second time staying at this chalet. My wife and I brought our daughter and dog last July and had such a great time, we rebooked for this July. Its proximity to Lake Placid is a huge plus. The entire town of Wilmington is runner friendly. And there is a dog friendly park with a beach on the Ausable River within a 5 minute drive. Our daughter loved this park and all the swimming she was able to do. A small grocery store is 1.5 miles away which made shopping for meals a breeze. We loved our time here and will be booking again in the future.

Wonderful get away!

We had a great time at this chalet. We were in close proximity to High Peaks hiking and 15 minutes from restaurants in Lake Placid. The chalet was decorated beautifully and everything worked great. We loved the grill and French press. It was a private property (there was one house in front of us we could see through some trees, but it was still private). There was a big deck that got sun during the peak sun hours, so we spent some time tanning as well. Ac worked great and the bed was comfortable. The oven was a little small, but it worked fine. I donā€™t think it would fit a 9x13 pan, so just plan for that. We cooked most of our meals on the grill and there was plenty of propane. We had an amazing stay!

Winter views of Whiteface from the porch!

We had a lovely stay here and would recommend this to anyone who finds proximity to whiteface, quiet, and seclusion a priority. The accommodations were clean, upstairs bed was comfortable, shower water was hot, and the fireplace added extra warmth after returning from a long day of skiing. The host was quick to respond to questions, and check in and out were straightforward. Thank you!

Perfect spot for a relaxing weekend

I booked the Black Diamond Chalet for a laid back, relaxing weekend for my husband, myself and our 2 pups. BDC did not disappoint. The space was perfect for us. With rain for a good amount of the trip, we spent a lot of time in the living area. The fold out couch and gas fireplace made for a very cozy Saturday. The chalet is very close to town yet feels secluded and is private.

Another Great Stay

I enjoyed another wonderful stay here. The house is clean, cozy, and comfortable, with all the amenities I need. I love the location; it feels secluded but is well situated for hiking and sight seeing in the Adirondacks. It was an incredibly hot week for September, so it got a little warm inside. That was a small price to pay and it did not dampen another great vacation stay here. I look forward to coming back again next year. Thanks.

Great property!

The chalet was perfect for our family of three plus our small dog. On a very private road very close to all attractions we wanted to visit. Kitchen had everything we needed to make some meals at home. Owner was communicative and available via email if we needed anything. Would definitely stay here when we visit again!

We got married in Lake Placid and soon after bought our dream vacation home in Wilmington, NY. We love pets and have been VRBO customers for over 15 years and are excited to now be a host as well.
