Vrbo’s policies heavily favor hosts at the expense of guests. According to their rules, hosts are allowed to wait until up to 24 hours before the guest’s arrival to provide check-in information. In my case, I tried for an entire week to contact the host and repeatedly requested the check-in details, which were never provided.I contacted Vrbo multiple times during this period. Unfortunately, there was no internal record or continuity of my conversations with their agents. Every time I managed to speak with someone, I had to explain the situation again from the beginning, only to receive the same scripted response: “The host has until 24 hours before arrival to provide the information.”As a result, I arrived at the airport with no place to stay, while my credit card had already been charged in full for a service I never received. With no time to spare, I was forced to book another accommodation at more than double the price. To be fair, Vrbo did eventually refund the full amount within a reasonable timeframe. However, the lack of accountability, poor internal communication, and rigid policy enforcement caused significant stress, financial loss, and inconvenience.Given this experience, I find it concerning that Vrbo is still requesting a review, especially when the core issue was a systemic failure in communication and guest protection. I would strongly caution future travelers—especially those with tight travel schedules—to be aware of these risks when booking through Vrbo.
