Welcoming serene Delaware Beachfront cottage located in the heart of the Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge (8000+acres). Beautiful natural beach with Delaware Bay and Atlantic Ocean views. Abundant wildlife, birds, and sea life. Property is sanitized and sparkling clean with basic amenities.
After years and years of study, we have come up with an all natural, eco friendly solution to common insects at the beach. We now have a new addition to our private beach paradise, a family of resident, Purple Martin’s to take care of all those pesky insects!
Free Wi-Fi! The Cottage has cold A/C and is heated during colder months. Enjoy surf fishing. Bring your own boat, jet skis, kayak, or Jon boat and beach chairs. Free Wi-Fi!

Fenced yard for dogs. Shower off the sand in the Bath(Shed)House. Laundry & bathroom are available in Bath(Shed)House. However, Shed House is Winterized during the months of, Dec, Jan, Feb & March. So no water usage, no second bathroom.

Awesome porch/great room, perfect for entertaining! Listen to the soothing waves or relax by the fire pit under a starlit night sky. Witness beautiful sunrises over the Atlantic Ocean and in the evening, see stunning sunsets over the refuge wetlands.

Overall - very nice- comfy beds- easy layout and great location. We are building in PH- and have stayed in several homes there- as we watch our dream come to fruition. If someone is renting this in the colder months- the main sitting area is definitely chillier- the electric fireplace helps- but just a heads up that it’s cold in that room- we also only had use of Keurig - but I believe a coffee maker and grinder are coming soon according to the host - but just double check before you start your drive:) We hope to rent again once or twice - before we can sleep in our own house! Thanks for having us! PH is such a special place! Oh- fenced yard was perfect for our older dogs who struggle with steps and seeing and hearing too :)

We had a wonderful stay for our anniversary weekend! Suzy is an incredible host, was so on top of communication. This cozy beach house was clean in a wonderful quiet area away from all of the tourist areas where you can really just enjoy nature. We feel so recharged! Still close enough to get quickly into town and enjoy restaurants, shops and mini golf. Our sweet old dog got to enjoy the very dog friendly beach. We can’t wait to come back with the kids!

All our cares slipped away as we pulled into the driveway to this beachfront retreat. Comfortable, clean and cozy rooms provided great sleep and room to relax. The proximity to the water was convenient and effortless. I look forward to staying there again.

Lovely place for us and our pets! It was so nice to just relax. It’s right on the beach and has a great fenced in yard for the pups!! They have just about thought of everything you need for a beach day and have it there in the shed for you to use. Was wonderful!!!!!Definitely would stay there again!

Everything was wonderful. We definitely would come back. Shower was difficult to deal with. Shower head kept falling off. Scotch tape held everything together in the house such as the Brita in the fridge and the Roku below TV’s, which could also use an update. One of the ceiling fans made a lot of noise near the couch. We honestly loved being here though. We will never travel to the Carolinas now that we’ve been here. Our dogs had a blast. Beach was private. Waves were calm. Such a nice place to stay. Felt like the perfect beach house.

Relaxing

The location was great and the house was small and quaint. The fenced in yard was very nice for our pups.It had all the amenities however if you’re planning on cooking, the stove is very tiny and out dated. There is an outside second bathroom, which was very convenient for showering after the beach. It could have been cleaned a little bit better because there were tumbleweeds of dog hair from previous renter under the beds. Overall, it was a nice beach cottage.

The beach house was very clean and in a great location, in a quiet private area which we enjoyed very much. We drove to Dewey, Bethany and Rehoboth beaches during the week which were not too far away and it was nice to return to a quiet place to relax. The beach is a very short walk from the house which is a plus but it is not cleaned so there are biting flies making it hard to sit on the beach for very long. The house itself is nice and clean and welcoming. kitchen cupboards could use a refresh and organizing after being rented out, perhaps a new set of fry pans. We enjoyed our stay and with a couple updates it’d be perfect!

Peaceful beach

We had a great stay at Suzy’s on Primehook Beach with our dog. The house is right on the beach and is in a very quiet neighborhood. Our dog loved swimming in the bay and watching the horseshoe crabs. Saw very few people on the beach during our stay. House had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. Suzy was very communicative and sent us all of the info that we needed before our trip. One tip: make sure to write down the Wi-Fi information before you arrive at the house. There is very limited cellular service, so we were unable to access the VRBO app and had to drive back to the coastal highway to get a signal to retrieve the WiFi info.

We had a great stay! I would book this again. This location is a private area so the only people you see are people who live there or visiting, no extra visitors. We were their early June and it is horseshoe crab time. Which was cool to see. They are out early morning and late evening. I share because we did not want to go in the water with them around. My husband shore fished. He caught some crab but also got a string ray. He thinks he had 2 shark on but we are not sure, the line was cut completely. The house had everything we needed to enjoy some downtime as a family.If you want a quiet and relaxing time, book here! If you want a location with lots of people and action, I would book elsewhere because this is not your place.

Rejuvenating Getaway

The cottage, beach, and community were just what I needed after an especially stressful spring. The house was clean and bright and cheery. Being right on the beach reminded me of childhood summers at my uncle's cottage in Slaughter Beach.

Perfect getaway

My dog and I had a great time here. The beach is right in the backyard, and we didn't bump into any other people. The home is one of the cleanest rentals I've ever stayed in, and Suzy was very communicative. Would definitely come back again!

Great spot for a relaxing week with the dogs

We had a wonderful week here. We loved the big room with windows on the beach and the swooping and calling gulls. We saw a pod of dolphins going by once. It's a calm, quiet beach, great for walking and exploring. The fenced yard was a gift for our dogs, who love being outside whenever possible.Prime Hook Beach is a small residential community -- I walked every inch of it several times with the dogs. :-) We've stayed in Lewes in the past, and so drove there a couple times to visit our favorite restaurants. Groceries are about a 12 minute drive away.

Cozy little vacay!

We've stayed here a couple of other times- house is perfect, location is wonderful! It was nice and quiet this time of year which is exactly what we were looking for. Our pup had a blast...the fenced in yard is perfect!

Wonderful stay!

Our family absolutely loves Prime Hook Beach and have stayed in another home down there multiple times. This was our first time at this house and we LOVED IT. It’s perfectly located, just steps down to the water. There was plenty of space with three comfy rooms (with very tall beds!) and a huge dining/living room area. The big fenced in yard was perfect for our dog. The kitchen was stocked with mostly everything you could need for a stay. We didn’t see a coffee maker or coffee grinder but were thankful for the Keurig machine and pods. There were plenty of sheets, pillows, blankets, and towels and we brought some of our own along as well. We cannot comment on the second bathroom, washer, dryer, and grill as they were not available for our stay. The only thing that worried us was the front door could be opened from the inside by our toddler even when it was locked but the solution was simply to lock the two doors inside the kitchen at night to prevent her wandering out into the dining area alone in the morning.

Perfect relaxing getaway

This charming cottage is ideal for a peaceful getaway. If you’re looking to avoid crowds and noise, this is the perfect spot. It’s conveniently situated near Rehoboth and other beaches, offering a balance of accessibility and tranquility. We thoroughly enjoyed strolls along the beach and discovered fascinating information about the horseshoe crabs that inhabit the area. Highly recommended!

Lovely long weekend getaway!

We had a great time, our very first time staying at Prime Hook Beach, and hope to return again! The pictures and the many reviews accurately match and describe the house. It’s perfectly clean and well maintained and very well supplied. The house is really a well designed beachfront property, sitting just over the dunes, just a short private pathway in the sand to the beach. It’s our kind of beach, natural, secluded, away from the bustle and crowds. In fact our mid September visit meant we rarely saw anyone else, just waves and sand and our doggie dashing into the water. What a welcoming place for our pet, and so very comfortable for us, too. Just what we wanted, a peaceful, relaxing long weekend at the shore, an easy 2.5 hour drive due East from our city. Our host is so accommodating and responsive, we sure hope that she’ll have us back!

Peaceful Place for Rest & Relaxation

This place was perfect for us. The sunroom facing the dunes and ocean was idyllic. We had tremendous views and enjoyed sunrise every morning. We appreciated the cleanliness of the home and thoughtfulness of the host with things like coffee filters, etc. We look forward to booking there again. Thank you for sharing your lovely seaside home.

Adorable House on a Quiet Beach

We really enjoyed our stay and absolutely loved the beach. The house met all of our expectations and was a perfect size for 3 adults, a toddler, and a dog. The beach was delightfully dog welcoming! Milton, DE is the cutest little town with so many cute businesses, restaurants, breweries and a sweet little playground.

My family loves Prime Hook Beach. We have many fond memories of our visits and exploring the area. The kids are now grown, and their busy schedules keep us from returning to the beach each summer. We hope you will make this your home away from home each summer!
I have a new operations manager, Suzy Schurman who loves this property as much as I do. She has a lot of energy and is great with working with people. I’ve asked her to include a little about herself.

I am an Olympian, Mother, Wife & Animal lover. Just like many of you, life gets very hectic & challenging. My family & I vacationed at Ed’s cottage in Prime Hook and didn’t want to leave. We loved this secluded area & cottage so much we decided to purchase it. We want to carry on Ed,s tradition of hassle free, pet friendly & honesty. Ed & I will jointly share this transition so that I can get to know you all and make your vacation memorable. I look forward in seeing you here soon.😊

This is a natural preserved beach with no retail, hustle or bustle. We have a private secluded beach and a completely new fenced in yard for our animal lovers. There are farm stands, antique stores minutes away. We are close to all of the tourist resorts such as Lewes, Rehoboth, Bethany, Dewey, Fenwick Island, and Ocean City. We are about a 20-minute drive from the Cape May Ferry (you watch the ferry cross to Cape May from Delaware on the beach), and about 20 minutes to the Casino in Harrington. The best part of our beach when you are here is nothing seems close until you leave the property.
