Leave the traffic and stress behind! This peaceful place is a perfect spot to unwind!

For those who want to be centrally located to wonderful things the Front Range of Colorado has to offer, this is a great home base for your adventures. Go catch and release fishing with our permission in the lake. There's lots of hiking, bird watching, biking trails and more. skiing and sledding in the winter

Our place is located in the mountains less than 1 hour from Denver and Boulder. There are many day trips to be taken in all directions like Rocky Mountain National Park or Garden of the Gods.

The kitchen is well equipped and there is a grill on the deck to use. Plenty of chairs and tables on the deck to enjoy the spectacular views of the lake and mountains and wildlife.

If you don't feel like cooking, a couple miles south is the Very Nice Brewery and they have food trucks and live music most weekends. Nederland, Rollinsville, Black Hawk and Central City are less than 10 miles away and all have tasty places to eat.

The new Gilpin County Recreation Center is 4 miles south has 2 pools and a water slide, classes and workout facilities.

NO SMOKING or open flame anywhere on our property or inside our place. Unfortunately we recently found cigarette butts in our yard after some of our guests had left. As you have seen on the news, it only takes 1 small careless act to cause horrible fires.

NO PARTIES, 6 people maximum at our place. We want to be sure our place and area is a good fit for you before you book a reservation.
Please find a different place if you want to have more people, damage our property or party and play loud music etc. into the wee hours of the night.
Our neighbors are our friends. They are friendly, quiet and respectful.
We want to be sure our guests are too, so everyone is able to enjoy our beautiful area.

We love sharing our place with people who love nature and will take good care of our place. Be sure to take time to relax on the deck and enjoy the breathtaking views and sunshine ;-)

We had a relaxing stay at Kristine's cabin. We found our way there easily and enjoyed hiking the local trails. It was precious to sit by the lake, enjoying the ducks, jumping fish, and even a moose. We had plenty of space and appreciated the clear instructions for check in and check out.

We loved our stay at Kristen's place on Thorn Lake! It was absolutely lovely to spend each morning relaxing on the deck that overlooked the lake, and then to spend the afternoon hiking the trails at Golden Gate Canyon State Park which was practically next door. I would stay again in a heartbeat!

We really enjoyed the location of the property. It was very peaceful—really enjoyed mornings and evenings in the deck. One of the best stocked with amenities we’ve ever stayed — towels, kitchen items, clean deck furniture. Would love to stay again in the fall. The host was very responsive to communications. Was easy access to Nederland.

I reserved this place for my elderly dad, daughter & 12 yr old nephew. Everyone absolutely loved it there. The views, the moose, the fishing. It was all a huge hit! Place had everything that they needed.

We absolutely loved our stay at this beautiful Black Hawk mountain property. From the moment we arrived, there was an immediate sense of peace and ease. The home was exceptionally clean, comfortable, welcoming, and had everything we needed for a relaxing stay.The kitchen was very well equipped, which made preparing meals easy, and there were plenty of comfortable beds and sleeping spaces for everyone. The furniture throughout the home was comfortable and inviting, and it truly felt like a place where we could settle in and enjoy our time together.The views are absolutely beautiful—surrounded by towering pines and aspens, with the mountains and lake right outside. Sitting on the deck in the morning or evening and simply taking in the scenery was one of our favorite parts of the stay. We even had the opportunity to watch wildlife around the lake, including moose and a family of ducks, which made the experience feel even more special.The property feels peaceful, private, and immersed in nature while still providing all the comforts of home. There is something incredibly calming about waking up here, looking out over the water and mountains, and listening to the quiet of the Colorado woods.We left feeling relaxed and grateful for our time here and would absolutely stay again

This is a beautiful get-away! The porch sitting at the lake's edge is wonderful and set up well with a grill and many chairs and tables. The area is so quiet and relaxing. The host is very communicative and helpful! She offered multiple suggestions for places to eat in the area. The kitchen was appointed fully with appliances, tools, etc. We spent two comfortable days and nights here - we highly recommend this VRBO!

This was a wonderful vacation for a family wedding and reunion where we all met and stayed at different parts of Blackhawk. The view from this location was absolutely stunning of the mountains and lake horn. I highly recommend it.

Great weekend getaway!

Great house tucked away in the mountains! Host communicated well and the house was in great condition. If you are coming from Denver, the house can be a bit out of the way, but also had great views of the mountains and forests. We had a great time

Kristine was a very gracious host who went above and beyond to help us with things to do in the area. Communication was prompt and very friendly. They were a friendly and lovely couple. The house and location are outstanding. The views are much better than the pictures describe. If you want some peace and quiet on a beautiful lake with close proximity to Nederland and Peak to Peak then this is your place.

Very Peaceful Getaway

Beautiful location with great views. The property is a little dated but well cared for and well equipped. If you are looking to be a bit off the beaten path and enjoy short jaunts to the various parks then this is a great spot for you. I would stay here again.

Lakeside Stay

We enjoyed our stay & had a great time exploring the area (hiking, fishing, & kayaking)! The views from the deck are amazing & we really enjoyed hanging out there together! The cabin was very comfortable & clean and we were able to make most of our meals there. The kitchen is well equipped!

Visit to Colorado School of Mines

My second time to stay at this gorgeous cabin. Only 16 miles from Golden, through the State Park so windy roads take a bit longer but the views are amazing. Very relaxing place to unwind.

I love the mountain views and the lake. This is our vacation home, and we also love spending time there. We are happy to share our special place with those that will appreciate it and take good care of it.

So if you want to bring pets, have a big party, or smoke, please find another place to stay. Our quiet neighborhood is not a good fit for you and your plans.
