The setting and price for our family holiday stay were very nice. We wanted a clean, spacious home within steps of the beach. The home gave us access to all of this. The host was also very responsive.At times, however, it seemed as if the communication was almost prescient. For example, I mentioned to my family that I had forgotten my iphone charger, and I received an email that spare chargers were in the drawer. After my stepdaughter arrived for dinner with her friends, I received a reminder that we only had 2 parking spaces. On New Year’s Eve, I received a message, saying “it looks as if” we had 3 additional guests. Specifically, the host mentioned that the image on the Ring camera suggested the presence of a baby or a pet. We did have two over-night guests; we didn’t want the young drivers on the road on a night known for drunk driving.I understand the caveats of being a guest, and I agreed to them. However, it was a bit disconcerting to feel as though our moves were being monitored. We did not rent the home in order to throw a raucous party. We hosted a quiet dinner for a college-age student who wanted to break bread with her family and friends before returning to classes. The 20-year-old in our group brought an inflatable bed to sleep in the living area for 1 night, so as not to disturb my 80-year-old mother. At no time did we exceed the guest limit of 6.We left the house in good order. The host's numerous questions made the trip less relaxing than we hoped.
