Welcome to Heartland House! Situated 8 blocks from downtown Saugatuck, Heartland House is a picturesque, tranquil setting for your gathering or retreat. Heartland House was hand-built in 1949 by the owners after a fire destroyed the original house. This well-loved and cared-for house has seen only 4 owners in its life. Perfect for families or large groups, enjoy 2 acres of spacious grounds, six large bedrooms, living room, family room, gourmet kitchen, plush furnishing and luxury amenities, such as a fully equipped kitchen, wood fireplace, wi-fi, cable tv and central a/c. Heartland house is a 15-minute walk or quick bike ride to downtown Saugatuck via the bike path located at the entrance to the property. Heartland House is sure to be a memorable place for your gathering of family and friends.

We had a beautiful 4 nights at Heartland House. Kitchen was great with more than enough items to cook big meals. Maybe not enough wine glasses. Hot tube wonderful with the snow coming down!!

We had a wonderful time staying at this lovely house. The place was perfect for our needs. Hot tub was very clean. Kitchen had everything we needed. Location was perfect. the host answered our texts quickly. I highly recommend this house.

Lovely property with wonderful deck and hot tub, comfortable beds, terrific kitchen with all utensils needed. This is our third year at Heartland for our family vacations. We are very happy with the property and always have a wonderful time there.

The Heartland House is beautiful and well appointed! The kitchen had all the appliances and cookware/tableware you need. The bedrooms were cute, comfortable, and had ceiling fans. Plently of space for ten people, with room to relax outside or stay inside and play games on a rainy day. Downtown and mini-golf are a short walk away. On a side note, the landscaping and variety of trees/plants was an additional delight!

EXCELLENT Home and property! We will be back!

We stayed at Heartland House for our family vacation, July 5-9, 2025. Myself and my children, their spouses and my grandchildren. It was truly amazing! We were able to create so many amazing memories because Heartland House was perfect! The secluded private property is outlined by trees for privacy, but still so close to the darling town of Saugatuck and wonderful Oval Beach. One of our favorite spaces was the cozy front porch. We spent so much time enjoying the nice weather on the relaxing front porch with comfy furniture. We loved making smores by the sweet firepit area across from the front porch. The back deck and yard were perfect, with the very nice hot tub that one of my family members was always enjoying! There are so many comfortable gathering spaces, downstairs, upstairs and the sweet sunroom. The top of the line kitchen was quite remarkable with everything we needed to create wonderful family meals and then when we were all able to sit together at the big dining room table... that was a cherished moment that this mom and grandma will never forget! Each bedroom and bed was very comfortable and decorated so cute. Heartland House will always be a wonderful family vacation memory for us and we will be back for sure!

Family Reunion

This home is in the perfect location - a quick drive to downtown Saugatuck or about a 20 minute walk. We explored nearby beaches, the towns of Douglas, Saugatuck and Holland during our stay. There is a wide selection of games in the basement for any down time (or when it happens to rain during the 4th of July festivities). The house is big enough that we could all be together (13 of us) or find some quiet places to read/nap/knit. The outside decks were wonderful for watching wildlife (we saw a doe and two fawns, rabbits, chipmunks, squirrels, birds). The front porch was also a great spot to sit and enjoy the rain. If you are planning a stay in this area, we would highly recommend this home!

Beautiful house

The house and amenities were spot on. We had everything we needed and the house was spotless when we arrived. Two minutes by car from downtown Saugatuck. The stressful part was the lack of response from the host on the months leading up to the stay. Gary was very kind and apologetic but not hearing from him for weeks on end was really stressful. I would love to rent from Gary again. A quick response relieves a lot of stress. Thank you.

Fantastic, as always!

We’ve been having our multi generation women’s gathering here for several years. Everything in the house is set up perfectly for a large gathering and we love it. The location is perfect to walk downtown or to just hang out on the deck or at the fire pit.

Wonderful Getaway

Spent our annual girls getaway at this lovely home and had awesome time. Everyone loved it! Location is great, close to everything in town but in quiet private neighborhood. Large porches and yard with plenty of parking, fantastic well stocked kitchen, nice hot tub and clean comfortable beds. There’s plenty of seating inside and out for everyone. Also the host is very responsive and great to work with. Definitely recommend this lovely home!!

This was our second family reunion stay at Heartland. We love it there. Gary is a wonderful host and is very responsive to any minor issues that come up. We are already scheduled to come back next year.

Everything you need and more

Heartland house was the perfect place for our family to stay for a getaway together. The kitchen was well stocked with plenty of serving dishes, utensils, appliances, etc. Beds were very comfortable. The property was quiet yet only minutes from town.

We had a wonderful time in Saugatuck. The houses location was perfect for everywhere we wanted to go. The large dining table was the perfect place for our group of 10 to eat and visit. The private grounds were very nice especially the evenings we sat around the fire pit! Thank you!`

A Charming Cottage

This well cared for property is a little gem in Saugatuck. The grounds were well taken care and the outside sitting areas were perfect for our group (including reading in the hammock and yoga on the front porch). The well equipped kitchen had everything we needed for food prep and cooking.Our beds (all five) were comfy and we all liked our Beekman toiletries that were a nice addition in each room. Overall, the house is a charming Michigan cottage !

Details matter
