Really loved our stay here at Black Cockatoo Retreat. The property is beautifully clean and everything works. The location is great for activities in Dunsborough, Yallingup and the Canal rocks areas. It’s a bit further to Margaret River but it’s not that far and the peaceful location makes it worth it. Sitting on the comfy, clean outdoor couch, in the protected patio area in the morning or evening, listening just to the birds is so relaxing. The lounge suite is comfortable too, no sagging couches here. The kitchen is well equipped, we wanted for nothing. I loved the bathroom, while it’s smallish with no bath, the shower is fantastic with a lovely rainwater style shower head and you don’t bump your elbows on the walls. Also good was that the water and spray stay inside the shower cubicle, so the rest of the floor doesn’t get wet. There’s good storage in the bathroom and quality towels and bath mat. The bed was comfy, and I did think I’d be cold (August stay) but the house is warm inside without using any heating, and there are a couple of blankets/throws around to tuck yourself in on the couches both inside and out. The property is suitable for 4 people, but I think you wouldn’t want more than three adults and there isn’t a lot of outdoor space for kids to run around. There are games and a huge TV inside though so there are things to keep them occupied. I will definitely stay here again if it’s available next time.
