Sweeping indoor/outdoor folding doors in family room and game room offer prime opportunities for enjoying the moderate Central Coast climate. Activities In The Area:
The Ranch House is minutes away from fabulous restaurants, the Pacific Ocean, mineral hot springs, biking and hiking trails. There are also endless opportunities for golfing no matter your skill level. The ranch is located in the heart of San Luis Obispo wine country and is literally steps away from wineries here in the Edna Valley, in addition to being within 30 miles of over 200 total wineries in the county.

Downtown San Luis Obispo is 6 miles away and features boutiques, restaurants, movie theaters, and the beautiful mission. Every Thursday evening you can stroll through Farmers Market filled with great food, live music and entertainment for the whole family. Downtown SLO also has many bars with live music Thursday - Saturday.

If youā€™d like to spend your day on the water, head to nearby Avila Beach, Pismo Beach and Morro Bay. Here you can enjoy a variety of activities including kayaking, windsurfing, boogie boarding and surfing. Thereā€™s also whale watching and deep sea fishing available. Oceano Dunes is the only place in the state where you can drive vehicles on the beach. You can also explore beautiful Montana de Oro State Park in Los Osos. Lopez Lake is just minutes away where you can spend time boating, skiing and fishing. San Luis Obispo enjoys a Mediterranean climate all year with an average of 315 days of sunshine and average temperatures in the high 70s and low 80s in summer and high 60s in winter.

Perfect Graduation Staycation

We are local and rented the Ranch House to host four generations of family and celebrate our sonā€™s high school graduation. Our family LOVED staying at this luxurious, spacious home. Incredible as always!

I've stayed at this property twice. Once with my extended family and once with by husbands family. Both times there were grandparents, parents, and children- and the house worked great for all ages. My kids love the entertainment room and all the adults loved drinking wine and enjoying the views from the backyard. The check-in/check-out process is incredibly simple, the property manager was very responsive and easy to communicate with during our stay and the house and grounds are just beautiful. My husband and I are already thinking of another reason to come back and stay :)

Second Stay!

Absolutely love Greengate Ranch! We rented the Vineyard Cottage in 2019 for our daughters graduation from Cal Poly and our goal was to return. I had been checking the Ranch House availability over the years for Christmas but it was always booked. This year I scored! The space and room was perfect for our group of 10. We used the entire house from setting up a coffee station, yard games, bar tending area, BBQ, poker table, buffet space and so much more. We brought a lot of cookware with us but really needed nothing as the kitchen was very well stocked. Everyone of us wanted the Ranch House to be our real house as the flow, views and usable areas are all so thoughtfully designed. I had also planned a wine tasting trip with Elegant Image Limousine of Edna Valley. We went to Lateittia, Tolosa and Talley and had too much fun. I would highly recommend them. The overall consensus from everyone in our group was "best Christmas ever!" Whether you are planning a wedding or just want a beautiful place to vacation, Greengate is magical.

I fell in love with this place!

We rented this place for my daughter's 2015 June graduation weekend and absolutely fell in love with the house and its surroundings! The pictures on VBRO were excellent but I can't even describe how truly beautiful the place is until you see it for yourselves. The weather was fantastic, have a lot of sunset pictures and gorgeous background pictures wherever you stand outside. Accommodations were excellent, plenty of beds, bathrooms, amenities, living space, kitchen space and bar space for all. Bocce ball and horseshoes outside was a definite plus, along with shuffle board and ping pong table inside. You could get lost in the place, it's so big! Both sides of grandparents had their own bedroom/bathroom to retreat to when family and friends got too loud so privacy was not a problem (almost everyone had their own bathroom too). I hope we can rent again in future since no other house we've rented can compare. Excellent service in greeting us and making us feel welcome. Admiring the surrounding vineyards, mountains and seeing their beautiful horses were added treats. I know our whole family plus their friends will remember this place for a very long time. I highly recommend this place for a vacation of a lifetime.

Wonderful Getaway at an Incredible Property

Our family was looking for a nice place to escape for a long weekend and this FAR exceeded our expectations. We knew based off the pictures and description that the property would be beautiful, but pictures don't do it justice. The house is incredible and fun for all ages. The grounds are unbelievable - so serene and beautiful. We enjoyed every bit of our time there and can't wait to be back!

This property is very special. The house itself is phenomenal and the grounds are beautiful. Just finished a three generation family vacation and we couldn't be happier. There was so much room and so many areas to socialize together or separately. The accommodations were five star quality, and the house is very well-equipped. Fabulous Property!!

Our C4 Mustang group arrived at this gorgeous property for 4 Nights. The house was clean and ready for us upon arrival. We had a total of 6 couples in the house. Every couple had there own bedroom and bath. Everyday we enjoyed a walk through the vineyards, played bocce ball, horseshoes, enjoyed the pool. There was enough room for all of us to have our own space if need be. We would have breakfast out back over looking the vinyards and end our night in the front yard enjoying wine and firepit. Jena, as was always around to answer any questions for us. She also referred us to Chef Mike from Fork and Knife to come prepare a delicious last night dinner. Our group was so impressed, we will be marking this an annual event.

Wonderful & Safe COVID -19 Summer Getaway!

3 generations enjoyed staying at this beautiful home! It was the perfect summer getaway during COVID-19 for people of all ages and even for 2 small dogs. We enjoyed the gorgeous landscape, front and backyard areas, game room, and large kitchen and outdoor BBQ area. A very relaxing time had by all - a nice change of pace from the SF Bay Area. Amazing!!

This place is incredible!! Our family had several important events to celebrate including a 50th and a 25th anniversary, 3 graduations and a victory over cancer and this property provided the perfect setting, amenities, space and safety in this age of the Corona Virus. The grounds were picturesque and the house was elegant, but comfortable. Our family enjoyed the pool, hot tub, fire pit, ping pong table, shuffle board, and space for dance wii, However, hands down, the icing on the cake was the fabulous kitchen where we prepared theme night dinners served at the massive farm table. Having our kids and grandkids together was entertaining, enlightening and heart warming!!! We were blessed beyond belief and appreciated the opportunity to enjoy this space. We can't wait to plan a return trip and continue our quest of highlighting the importance of making memories as a family!

Beautiful large house in a spectacular vineyard setting

We stayed at the Greengate Ranch house for our son's graduation from Cal Poly. We were blown away by the house. The vineyard setting made the most beautiful backdrop for all of our family pictures. There was plenty of room for our group of 15, and everyone was thrilled to have their own bathroom! We were able to walk to the tasting room across the road and the grounds provided a nice place to go for a morning or evening walk. The only negatives we could find were the lack of water pressure in a few of the showers and the dimness of lighting in the parts of the house (especially the kitchen). Also be prepared to bring every possible food or cooking item you think you will need - there is absolutely no cooking ingredients (like salt, pepper, oil, coffee, sugar, etc.) available - just plates, glasses and general cooking implements. But this is all nitpicking! The positives of the house greatly outweigh any small negatives. We would definitely stay here again.

Pictures don't do this place justice!

This place was amazing - the pictures just don't do this place justice! The house was very accommodating and Marjan made the process very easy. The location of this house was perfect, allowing easy access to both downtown SLO and wineries. We definitely hope to return again! Thanks Marjan!

Perfect for big gatherings

Honestly, I wish there were 6 stars for this property because this place deserves it. This house really exceeded all of our expectations (which were pretty high, due to the description and the fantastic photos on VRBO). We rented the house for a 10th anniversary celebration with 8 of our closest friends. The house was more than enough room for all of us, and every detail in the house is well thought-out and high quality (2 air mattresses, just about everything you'd ever want in a kitchen, poker chips in the game room, etc.). Almost all of the bedrooms have en suite bathrooms. The best part of the weekend was all of the time we got to spend outside on the huge dining table and the couch with a firepit. The huge chef's kitchen and outdoor grill area and patio were perfect for having a big cookout on with all of the food we'd bought at the SLO Farmers Market. All of our friends agreed that we would absolutely come back and stay at the ranch house! Would be perfect for smaller family reunions, gatherings of friends, and pre-wedding gatherings. SLO is really a great area to visit. Besides the Thursday night Farmers Market, downtown SLO is worth visiting for its great restaurants and shops. We really enjoyed Novo, Big Sky Cafe, Scout Coffee, and Sidebar. We also spent a couple of days visiting wineries in Paso Robles (our favorites were Denner, Turley, Adelaida, and Whalebone) and had a fantastic dinner at Artisan Restaurant in downtown Paso. The MontaƱa de Oro State Park is a 35 minute drive from the house and definitely worth a visit.

Greengate Ranch has a history dating back to the 1800ā€™s as a dairy farm, but is best known for its rise to international acclaim under the ownership of Jay and Dorothy Stream, who occupied the ranch from the 1950ā€™s until 2012. The Streams, often in partnership with Jayā€™s client, the legendary Wayne Newton, bred world class Arabian horses after turning this majestic piece of land into a top notch horse facility. Jay Stream was a Past President of the International Arabian Horse Association (IAHA), inspired the Arabian Horse Society and was President Emeritus of the World Arabian Horse Organization (WAHO), having served as President for 31 years. His international recognition popularized the ranch as it became home to world class Arabian events and extravagant galas and auctions attended by celebrities, royalty and luminaries from the Middle East who traveled half way across the globe to visit Greengate Ranch.

Jay Stream has since passed away and Dorothy Stream moved to Arizona. The property and all of its facilities had fallen on hard times and were in need of a substantial restoration project. A local family purchased the property in July of 2012 and immediately went to work restoring the grounds and structures to their previous grandeur. Virtually every structure, pasture, fence, and dwelling has been completely overhauled. A brand new riding arena and a 75 acre vineyard are the latest additions to the ranch. The owners take great pride in restoring this once proud property that sits at the gateway to historic Edna Valley. We aim to provide the premier ranch and vineyard experience in California.
