When we are not hosting events at The Melissa Barn we open our home and property up for lodging. Our home is 4 bedroom 2 baths and can sleep 12. Reach out to see if our home is available for your stay.

Information on Event Venue:
All events have to be approved by owner of the property.
Our Weekend getaway package is for 2 nights of lodging up to 12 guest and up to 2 events on our property. You will have your own private estate to host your wedding and guests. Our new barn has a unique rustic/elegant flare with a capacity of up to 130 people. Exterior of the barn is Western Red Cedar and Oklahoma Chop Stone that is stacked with no mortar joints. Interior features100 year old barn wood, Oklahoma Chop stacked stone, floor to ceiling Austin Chalk stone fireplace, Polished concrete floors, large men's/women's bathrooms, prep kitchen, bar, and covered outdoor areas. Our outdoor ceremony area is private with a 50 foot walk way to a covered Arbor. We just updated our Ceremony site with artificial turf. Plenty of photo oops at our landscaped meandering crushed granite pathway that crosses over a bridge leading to 10 foot arched Cedar gates. Home is fully furnished and equipped with a warming kitchen, bath towels and linens. The pool area is surrounded by a large privacy fence and a beautiful Cedar Cabana. We look forward to your stay! Fabulous! Perfect Setting!

We absolutely enjoyed everything about this home. It was the perfect setting to just enjoy family, while plenty to do for the kids. Both myself and my family would recommend this and plan to come back! Thanks so much for helping create such wonderful memories for all of us.

Outstanding in every respect

Came for five days to view the eclipse on 4-8-2024 and had a wonderful experience. The location will transition to a wedding venue and will be ideally suited for that purpose. The owner is exceptional In every respect. We had family and friends from four states and from overseas and everyone had a wonderful experience.

Too Good to be True

A group of sorority sisters and I rented the home last summer for our annual girls weekend. The home was dirty, including the oven. It had roaches. One of the girls found chips in one the linen of the bunk beds.The water in the pool was so cold that we couldn’t enjoy the pool, which is one of the reasons we selected the home. The home is beautiful, the property owners are nice; however, the home is not what we thought we were getting.

Hi Veronica I am so sorry to read this review almost a year after your stay. I am very grateful for all of my guest and take great pride in my property. This house is cleaned after every stay. The house defiantly does not have roaches. I have quarterly pest control performed. I noticed your booking was on the same day another couple departed. House keeping has to work hard to get the house ready for the next group. I am sorry ou found a couple of items that were not acceptable. I do remember stopping by to make sure everything was good and your group seemed to be enjoying the pool. It is a deep pool so the water stays cooler. A feel that a one star review does not truly reflect properly on this property. This is the first poor review in four years. In this business we rely on reviews so we can make things better. Wish you would have let me know sooner that you were not happy Thank you Darrell

Good (could have been great) family spot

Darrell's place was a good spot for our family to spend Thanksgiving week together. Darrell was particularly helpful and responsive as we settled in; both responding to emails and taking a couple late night calls. The physical features of his place are delightful and as advertised. The one element of our stay that wasn't up to par was the infestation (I know that's a strong word but given the volume, I don't think an overstatement) of grasshoppers inside the home. Our first night was particularly tough when our daughter found crickets in her bed and, as a result, didn't sleep well for the entirety of the visit. This circumstance was, of course, beyond Darrell's control but I feel compelled to indicate we wouldn't return without assurance that this problem was addressed.

Hi Brain, Thank you for your review. Again, I apologize about the crickets. I had the house cleaned the day before you got there. My pest guys told me there was not much I could do about them. The extreme drought and then heavy rains caused an explosion of crickets in North Texas. Especially country property. They die off when the outside temperatures are in the 30's at night. I have owned the house since 2005. This is the first time I have seen them this bad. I am glad your family was able to get together for Thanksgiving and enjoy the place. Your welcome back anytime. Away Tournament

Group of 12 men in town for a sports tournament, this property was excellent and just what we needed. Excellent overall experience in renting, communication with the owner, amenities and cleanliness. A nitpicker would find something to complain about, but that’s not our group. We enjoyed every minute, and will look at the Melissa Barn first on our next visit to Texas!!

Great Ranch and Venue

Our visit was a combination of business and family. We highly recommend this property for a family fun getaway or a larger event, perfect wedding and meeting venue. The host Darrel was wonderful! From check-in to check-out, he was very accommodating. Loved the country experience with all the modern conveniences. A huge plus for us was we had the country experience but were close enough to receive delivery for the few things we forgot to bring.

Family Time

Great property in a great location. Quiet and private, we enjoyed our trip for a family get together for the weekend. Great communication with property owner. The grandkids really enjoyed the pool and the games provided. We would definitely return. You won't be disappointed.

Perfect Girl's Getaway

The property was the perfect backdrop for our college reunion. We were all very comfortable with the house and found the outdoor spaces perfect for our group. The pool was a bit too cold for our trip, but the casita, ping pong table, and barn helped us create amazing memories. Darryl was fantastic to work with and made sure that we had everything for our stay. The house and property were definitely one of the trip highlights!

Texas Treasure

This house is beautiful with many adult games to play like darts, billiards and ping pong. The only negative is that the pool is not heated so we could not take full advantage of the incredible back yard. Also, there is a quirk to the house. The Master bathroom has double glass French doors which gives zero privacy. The bedroom door lock does not work so a few of us had people walk in on us while in the shower. Other than that, this property is a dream for a layed back family vacation.

So Close, but just Far Enough....

This property is 10 minutes north of downtown McKinney. It is a very well equipped, nice home with an awesome huge back yard with plenty to do. There is a beautiful huge pool with a cabana with a TV lounge area, and plenty of seating all around the expansive back yard. It was the perfect environment to practice social distancing in these times. There are also darts, ping-pong table and foosball table in the garage, and a pool table inside. The grounds are beautiful and the back lot has a beautiful event venue for Weddings, Private Parties, etc.....Would definitely recommend!!

Fantastic property

We had a great stay at the property. The outdoor space is amazing.....our kids loved it. Darrell was such a great host and so responsive to anything needed. A much needed peaceful break in the country during these crazy times.

Amazing

From my first inquiry to my last contact with Darrell, the entire process was 150% excellent. Darrell was patient,considerate,accommodating, simply on point! The property, the home allowed our family to have an amazing time and to celebrate thanksgiving as if we were at home. The adults and kids all had a wonderful time, from constant pool games to ping pong, basketball and even the polar plunge in 36 degree weather! Our family will definitely be visiting again!

Great property to enjoy time with family and friends

Spent the weekend with family and friends. The house was large and comfortable enough for the the eight family members. Had my son’s rehearsal dinner in the barn with approx. 80 in attendance. Great property and a great weekend.

Great entertaining home!

We had a wonderful time with our family during our one week stay. House was perfect, very comfortable! A fantastic pool and cabana area. Large yard for all kinds of activities with the grandkids, pool table in house for the adults and foosball, darts etc in garage. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and Darrell and his sister were so nice and very easy to communicate with. Highly recommend this property!

As a child growing up loving horses, I dreamed of owning a home in the country with a white fence and a red barn. I have been a Home Inspector in the area now for over 20 years. I actually inspected this home for a buyer and fell in love with it during the inspection. I informed the buyer that if he ever sold I would be interested in buying. Well that day came six months later and I jumped at the chance. I have exhaustively updated the property over the years. Heather and I am now ready to share this piece of heaven with you.

This property offers a country atmosphere without having to wind around country roads to access the property. It's very easy to access from several roads in the area. The property is located minutes north of McKinney. One of the things I have enjoyed the most about the property is being able to see the stars at night. Drive a few minutes south and they disappear.
