Steps to the sea! Charming garden view studio with beach access, WiFi and AC.

Luna Azul Casitas are always a great choice for those interested in long term rental, for divers or others that plan on spending their visit out and about. This studio efficiency unit has no view, but the beach and great snorkeling are just a few steps away. The unit is clean and comfortable with private bath and well equipped kitchen area that includes microwave, refrigerator and coffee maker, and breakfast bar.

This studio comes with a king size bed as well as a full size futon and can sleep up to 3 people.

Luna Azul is one of our favorite condominium properties. It has a great central location within walking distance to Akumal's Yal-Ku Lagoon, restaurants and other services. The management here is excellent and always takes great care of our guests.

KINDLY NOTE: South winds may bring Sargasso Seaweed to some beaches throughout the Caribbean, including the Rivera Maya. While the situation is hard to predict for each specific week and area, we would like you to be aware as there is the potential to impact the beach and water entry.

The Riviera Maya is full of natural beauty, places to explore and opportunities for outdoor activities. We have a great list of activities and adventures completely unaffected by the arrival of sargasso that we would love to share with you. There is so much to see and do in this special place, we know that you will have an amazing and memorable vacation!

Wonderful little secluded gem

Very pleased with this cute little place. Tucked away but great location. Perfect for the single traveler! The property management was great and the staff are all friendly and attentive.

This was the first time we had rented a VRBO and we were so happy that we did! Charming for sure, just a few steps from the beach, many amenities, and very comfortable for 1-2 people. Our maid, Alma, kept the studio immaculate. Although we brought our own, large beach towels were provided. The outside lanai was comfortable for morning breakfast. We preferred to have our coffee by the beach early in the mornings. We experienced only one beautifully clear sunrise, but watched a small shark surface many times close to the beach…a nurse or reef shark? The beach was covered in seaweed the first day and a half of our four day vacation. It cleared up after that and we had an enjoyable time snorkeling right off the beach. The sand is nice, however, it is kind of rocky as you enter the water. We just laid on our bellies and floated out with the waves. I would highly recommend the bike rentals through The Reef Condominiums office. $8 for 24 hours and comes with a lock. Very economical if you are going to Akumal Beach, The Akumal Monkey Sanctuary or anywhere else in the area. We rode them almost everywhere we went…even to catch local buses to save on taxi fares. Overall, a wonderful and convenient place to stay in the Akumal area.

Fresh clean comfortable

Great fresh space. AC, coffee pot, blender and stove top worked well. Plenty of clean bottled drinking water. Steps to the beach with comfortable lounge chairs. Private garden patio with beautiful table. I would stay again. Thank you!

Besides having beach access, this unit has a private enclosed patio that can be enjoyed any time of the day. The unit was super clean, had good quality kitchenware, king size bed, nice towels and linens, new ac unit, high end fan, rainfall shower head and full size fridge. Scott was a great host he stopped by shortly after we checked in to be sure everything was good, and was available if we had any questions. This is no doubt the best bodega in all of Akumal.

We were pleasantly surprised at how spacious this studio was (we are a family of 5, 3 small kids). The decor was really nice and everything was super clean. We were happy to stay here. Had a cute little closed in patio with a locking door. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again if travelling on a budget.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Fourth visit to the unit, first in 8 years. Remodeled since then, looks nice, a few problems with layout. Housekeeping did not pick up dirty towels at all, had to pile them up outside our door. Only changed sheets once. Lockbox in a lousy location. Scott stopped by twice, which was nice. Would stay at a bungalow at Playa Caribe next time, they are better looking and have better furnishings.

Great value on the beach

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This is a well maintained studio on the backside of a beachfront building. Walk up a few steps and your toes are in the sand. The space is laid out well and there is a nice private outdoor area to enjoy as well. The kitchen was sufficient with a proper oven. The bed was comfortable and the a/c and wifi both worked well. There was daily cleaning offered and drinking water. I highly recommend this studio for a great value on the beach!

An amazing stay by the ocean!

Cute apartment BUT... SARGASSO!!!!!!!

I hate to give a less than stellar review of this property because the management and staff are wonderful and the unit is very cute and well outfitted. My family stayed next door this same week last year and had one of the best vacations we've ever had! We fell in love with Akumal!!! The snorkelling was incredible, the beach was very nice, and the turtle nesting was an unforgettable experience for everyone in our family. Sure, there were a couple of days when the seaweed was annoying and smelly, but it was short lived and only a minor annoyance. We had been excited for this return trip all year and convinced other family members to join us, expecting another amazing week. We rented the penthouse next door again, but also this unit to serve as a first floor bathroom and refuge from the sun so my mother wouldn't be up and down steps all day and night while we were on the beach - as we were last year. We never ended up using it. We had read reviews about the sargasso seaweed being a problem, but figured we knew what we were getting into. I was horrified to see the reality of Akumal and HMB this year!!! The sargasso is overwhelming! The waterline around the entire bay - except for the very northernmost point by the reef - is blocked by mounds of sargasso that are sometimes 3-4 feet high. The first 100 feet of water is a field of brown, stinky seaweed. Water entry was difficult, itchy, and hazardous (due to the rocky bottom that you can't see) unless we walked to the end of the bay near La Sirena. There is an empty lot beside La Buena Vida that is now filled with a pile of the stuff more than 10 feet high that you have to walk over on a path to get to the restaurant via the beach. The stench is nauseating as soon as you open the car door or a condo window in HMB and in 8 days we never got used to it. This is no fault of the businesses, many workers were out every morning at sunrise raking up the sargasso and hauling it off in trashcans, only to watch just as much as they removed (or more) wash in again daily. We ended up filling our beach vacation with day trips to escape the smell. This week last year there were nearly 200 turtle nests. We would see at least 2 turtles a night come up to nest. This year there were only 40 nests and not a single turtle came up the entire week. I hate to say this, but if you're looking for a beach or going for the turtles,I would recommend looking elsewhere for now. It's sad to see what's happening.

Bay was full of seaweed but that’s just the luck of the draw and season. Staff were friendly. Location perfect! Walking distance from great restaurant and driving from either Carmen or Tulum...Cobá etc.

Exactly as advertised!

Cute little place which is perfect for a couple. I stayed alone and had plenty of space to cook and to lounge. Only steps from the beach made my afternoons super relaxing. Also, the three restaurants up and down the bay are fantastic.

AWESOME!

This was the perfect location and the perfect sized condo! We loved it and we enjoyed our time immensely! Just steps away from the beach, which was quiet and not overrun! The condo had everything we needed and the maids did a wonderful job of picking up after us. We will be asking for this condo again! It was the best weekend getaway ever!
