Located on the ground floor of this well-regarded Half Moon Bay property, the condo opens directly onto the sand with a private terrace and pool just steps away. Inside, an open-plan living and dining space flows toward the oceanfront, creating a bright, airy setting for family gatherings.


The Master Suite features a king bed with ensuite bath, while the guest room has two double beds and a private bath, making the unit ideal for up to six guests. Central air conditioning keeps both bedrooms and the living areas cool year-round. Daily housekeeping service ensures a relaxed stay, while the onsite concierge is available to arrange everything from airport transfers and grocery delivery to tours, spa services, and rental cars.


Half Moon Bayā€™s shoreline, with its mix of soft white sand and coral rock, offers excellent snorkeling just off the beachā€”water shoes are recommended for easy entry. Perfect Paradise Retreat

This condo was perfect! The location couldnā€™t have been better and I love the ground floor access to the beach and pool! Our patio felt huge and the area out beyond felt almost private (even though it is shared by all guests). I loved the little tables and shade spots directly on the beach! Beds were comfy enough, definitely felt like a squishy topper over a VERY firm mattress, but thank heavens for the topper. Kitchen is equipped with almost everything youā€™d need except for shot glasses and amenities to do your own dishes. Blender worked great! I think the highlights of this condo were the location, the set up, and the staff! We will definitely come back and Iā€™d rebook this place in a heartbeat.

Super chill vibe!

The place is great - the ground floor was fabulous so we could go back and forth to the beach )right in front of the unit) easily! Also, this specific unit is not directly in front or beside the pool which makes it more peaceful - it is just a 30 second walk, but makes a difference. There was a lovely welcome basket with snacks and fruit when we arrived which was really a nice touch. The kitchen is the best stocked kitchen we have ever had - literally everything you need in terms of cookware and tableware and they even had spices, coffee. The glasses were local and so pretty - and real glass as opposed to plastic! The fridge seemed to leak a little - we put a towel down and it wasnā€™t a big deal. The king sized bed was very comfortable.

The booking process was simple, straight forward and all of my questions were answered in a timely fashion. Also, the online pictures accurately reflect the current status of Condo #1. Lastly, future renters should be aware, if seaweed lands on the beach in front of Play Caribe, or on the neighboring condominiums on either side, NO effort is made to remove it. It is left alone to let Mother Nature take it course. To enter the water you must walk 300-400 yards to the north to find the beginning of properties who remove it. It is what it is.

The unit is set away from the pool which is ideal for a more "chill" space on the patio. The unit was clean and well maintained. Beautiful views and great pool. The only negatives were that the coffee maker was broken and when we told the property manager on the first day, he failed to replace it for our entire stay. The second negative was the extremely bright rope lights they use to light the entry to the condos. They shine through the patio doors from about 10 feet away on the bedroom all night. We had to cover the door with blankets to keep the light out so we could sleep.

Vacation in Akumal

We had a good stay at Playa Caribe from May 13-20, 2023. Some areas we would have liked to seen improved are as follows: -blackout curtains needed. This location has the brightest outdoor lights of any condo in the area and there arenā€™t any blackout curtains. This was really bad in the second bedroom overlooking the entrance. -no scissors in the place made for a lot of use of my tiny nail scissors. Iā€™ve never stayed anywhere that didnā€™t have scissors in the kitchen. -there was an ant issue, which is to be expected on the ground floor but still annoying. -hand soap is provided and so is dish soap but no shampoo. -this place desperately needs a clothes line or a drying rack. We had to resort to using hangers from the living room curtain rod to dry damp items overnight. A simple clothes line or rack would have solved this. -all the (only 2) hooks in the bathroom were broken so we had nowhere to hang towels or other items except from the towel bar. -the pool is very tiny. Normally this wouldnā€™t be an issue except that with the sargasso, you canā€™t get to the beach. -sargasso: the barrier was installed and finished before we arrived but a storm sent a bunch over it a few days before we got there. It seems that the condos on the beach stopped any of the beach cleanup with the new barrier and so it was worse than when we stayed in Akumal in August of 2022 when there wasnā€™t a barrier. I was very frustrated by that since it meant we still didnā€™t get the beach we hoped to

Agustin was so friendly and Alfredo as well. Although the showers in condo #1 were a little iffy- we made ado. It would have been nice to have salt and pepper at least for guests. Everything was meticulously cleaned and the beds were very comfortable. We really enjoyed our first stay here!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We've vacationed yearly in Akumal for over the past 10 years, and have sampled a fair number of condos and villas. This unit is nice and well kept, with no real flaws. It has central air which is not typical, and a real bonus in hot/humid weather. The building staff are friendly and efficient, as expected. The pool is small but sufficient unless you have a fair number of kids with you, when it might be a bit tight. Only suggestion - get rid of the sign ("More chairs available on the north side") which isn't needed and blocks the view from the condo, as shown.
