Oceanfront Penthouse with Two King Suites and Terrace

Playa Caribe 12 offers a colorful, top-floor escape overlooking Half Moon Bay in Akumal. Situated on the fourth floor of the south tower, this penthouse combines modern convenience with tropical charm. Both bedrooms are designed as master suites, each with a king bed, private bathroom, and air conditioning. One suite also includes a sofa bed, making the condo suitable for up to four guests.

From the fully equipped kitchen and dining area to the bright living room, every space showcases sweeping views of the Caribbean. Sliding doors lead to a corner terrace furnished for al fresco dining, where the ocean horizon sets the backdrop for unforgettable meals.

Guests benefit from thoughtful amenities including daily maid service, concierge support, purified water, beach towels, and parking. Outdoor highlights include a beachfront pool, loungers, BBQ grill, and direct beach access.

The condo is on the fourth floor and accessible by stairs only. Half Moon Bay’s shoreline has areas of coral rock—water shoes are recommended for snorkeling or swimming. Daily housekeeping service is provided. Parking, beach towels, and purified water are provided.

KINDLY NOTE: South winds may bring Sargasso Seaweed to some beaches throughout the Caribbean, including the Rivera Maya. While the situation is hard to predict for each specific week and area, we would like you to be aware as there is the potential to impact the beach and water entry.

We have a great list of activities and adventures completely unaffected by the arrival of sargasso that we would love to share with you. A beautiful, peaceful place right on the beach

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had a wonderful time staying at Playa Caribe as a group of four adults and two small children. Unit #12 fit us all perfectly. We moved to unit 8 for the last three days of vacation, and it was definitely tighter for our crew, so I’d recommend the corner units for families . The whole experience was really fun for us, with beautiful sunrises and sweeping views of the Caribbean. It was easy enough to walk over to a few nearby restaurants to grab lunch or dinner, and the kitchen at #12 had everything to cook with. We will definitely come to stay here over fighting the crowds at busy resorts! Also, this building is within a gated community, and it is really safe to walk around :)

Fantastic Getaway Haven

This is by far the nicest condo we’ve rented in the past 20 years. The interior design was so creative and the interior decor was over the top. Everything from the pool to the table tops was spotless. I was blown away by the quality of the carpentry LOL. The kitchen was large and very well provisioned with cookware, dinnerware and small appliances. The view of the bay was spectacular. A++++ Thank You !!

Friends, who have stayed in Akumal for several yrars, suggested Playa Caribe. Beach was right there & snorkeling on the reef was excellent. Lack of an elevator (for older guests) and a washer/dryer were a challenge.

The view was gorgeous, and the condo was well equipped, spacious, beautifully decorated and clean. Half Moon Bay is a quiet snorkeling beach in the busy Mayan Riviera. An oasis of calm.The are several restaurants close by. Make sure to have a beach meal at La Buena Vida, fresh juice or Mexican chocolate and breakfast at La Jungla and a most excellent lunch at Imeldas (the best food). And cross the highway for fresh tortillas, fruit and local food. If you are looking for tshirts to bring home there is a local man who designs and silk screen prints beautiful shirts directly across from La Buena Vida (support local!). And the snorkeling doesn't get better than Yal Ku Lagoon and Half Moon Bay.Enjoy!!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This was our second time staying at Plata Caribe, and yet again, it did not disappoint! Here’s what we loved about our stay: the views (feels like you’re staying on top of the water), access to great snorkeling just steps away (we saw a turtle!), a well-stocked kitchen (with lots on unexpected, but useful appliances, like a crockpot, juicer, mixer), the jug of drinking water, daily cleaning service, restaurants just down the street, the clean pool (a great place to relax with a drink), and the overall low-key vibe. We’ll definitely be back!!

Photos misleading

Very disappointed in the condition of the condo. Very run down. OLD rusty appliances. Linens and towels did not match and actually had holes in them! There was no tv in the unit when we arrived. They did bring one the next day but there was no cable. When we tried to use our sign ins fir Netflix etc it said the server needed to be upgraded. So no tv for two weeks. No beach to speak of. The photos of the beach/views are looked great online—Not so much in person. Bad seaweed which they had no control over, but it also came with lots of bugs hovering over the piles in front of the pool. There is an abandoned house with boarded up windows right next door which makes the view from upper levels not so great. Actually saw a squatter there a few times. The Office door was open during the day but we never saw anyone in there. The parking lot has piles of construction trash, Old rusty bikes and golf carts. Be aware there is NO Elevator. It looked like some other condos in the building were being renovated and #12 is in desperate need. Paty the housekeeper was very thorough. Liked the bottled water. Disappointed overall.

We stayed in 3 different rentals while we were in Mexico and this one was my favorite! My only complaint is that I received check in info the morning of which was a little stressful because I expected to get it much earlier and no one messaged me back on the VRBO app.

Akumal is Amazing!

We loved this place. The views are amazing. We came for a pre-Christmas getaway and we will come back. The condo was all we could ask for as a family of 4 and the location is great. We loved that it was gated and many times we had the entire stretch of beach to ourselves. There is seaweed but it didn't bother us. It tends to move around through the bay and we had 2 amazing days of clear water and snorkeling. We saw many fish and sting rays. The staff is great at Playa Caribe. They were always helpful. The condo is clean and well taken care of. We ordered groceries ahead of time and had them delivered. We rented a car which we loved. It allowed us to get to Tulum and other areas we wanted to explore. Loved this place, loved the location! We will be back!

Amazing!!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: I celebrated my retirement with 3 friends and what an amazing time. Playa Caribe #12 was very well appointed. I've never stayed in a rental with so many tools in the kitchen! The unit is beautifully decorated and the Lanai had amazing views. The Staff on site were so helpful and the maid was such a sweetie. We enjoyed La Lunita, and all the restaurants in Akumal. Snorkeling in Yal-Ku Lagoon is a must as it is just down the road. We rented a car, but I think on my next visit, I will just rent a bike to get around. You can walk to town. It is only about 20 minutes. If you are planning to eat in for breakfast and lunch, I would suggest stopping at the Super Chedrau in Peurta Adventuras on your way to Akumal. Way cheaper than the Super Chomak in Akumal. I would definitely stay at Playa Caribe again, but I will stay in a unit that is not on the top floor!! Way too many stairs for us.

The whole complex is very well maintained and this unit, along with the other ones we saw, were well decorated. Right in the middle of Half-Moon bay. We would definitely stay here again!

One if the best locations on the bay!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Our condo was perfect. Augustine was available and helpful for everything we could possibly need. The convenience store almost directly across the street is sooo convenient for quick snacks, drinks, sunscreen, and any needs that don't warrant a walk to town. The views are incredible. This building is our favorite in Akumal, and we now have a new favorite unit...#12! Yes, there is a seaweed season and it's a pain and the beach has washed out a little, but it's a cycle...we will be back!
