boats or wake up early and go surf fishing, the Sea Escape offers

We have stayed in this house many times during our summer family trips to Fernandina Beach. It’s always the first place where we check availability and try to plan our beach trip accordingly. We love this house!! It’s not fancy, but always clean and feels so homey to us. We will continue to try and rent here each summer when possible!

It’s on the beach…this is the least expensive single family home on the beach…and as the saying goes…you get what you pay for. The minimal amount of old, grainy, low res pics should be the first clue. The second was when I asked the owner for more pics and didn’t get any. There was a reason why. While the property was clean from a dusted and swept perspective, everything is so old, worn, and in disrepair that you never felt “clean”. We put sheets on the furniture, pre-washed any dishes, and left our clothes in our suitcases. It’s obvious from family photos and decor that this was “mothers” beach house. The kitchen is a hodgepodge of plastic dishes, leftover food stores, and sticky everything. No dishwasher. The house has had a lot of water damage as the wall finishes are buckled, drywall joints are falling apart and the floor is so uneven you’d swear you were drunk walking on it. We only used one bedroom and my wife slept on the couch all week as the bed was so uncomfortable. The ceiling in one of the bedrooms has dropped to the point of almost falling in. It happens to be directly above one of the bunk beds…which the ceiling fan extends over the top bunk…I would never allow my kid to sleep up there. Watch out on the back deck! The wood is filled with splinters and nails and screw heads are sticking up. The cheap plastic furniture is only for those “skinny” people. The view is amazing though! The proximity to the beach is great, just a few steps and you are there!

Great place to stay

My family loves this house. We have stayed here 5 times and we always check its availability when we plan our vacation. The location is ideal. We particularly love the back porch, the view of the beach, and the outdoor shower. It’s a very homey place and we always enjoy our stay!

Great Beach House

Perfect location and great little beach house. Air conditioning went stopped working during night - texted owner the next morning at 0645 with immediate response. Constant contact from owner about repair and was back up and running by lunch.

Great location!

This property was great location for my family. The easy access to the beach was wonderful. There is a nice deck overlooking the ocean. I did contact the property manager and he was easy to get a hold of and eager to help with any issue. Property is slightly dated but this is easily overlookable as it adds to the charm. The shower underneath the property is genius!

Perfect location!!

The whole process of renting this property was easy and pleasant. This house is located on the beach with the ocean just a few steps from the back deck. The owner was very pleasant to correspond with. We had one small issue with one of the appliances in the house and he had it repaired the very next day. I would definitely recommend the property and we hope to return soon.

July 4th

This little beach house is just as quaint as it appears in the pictures. Reminds me of cottages from my younger years. Fairly easy access to the beach which is really just steps away. Love the porch which spans the entire front of the house. Great fourth of July fireworks all up & down the beach. Our stay was enjoyable but for the weather (Tropical Storm Elsa) but just being at the beach makes me happy. Thank you George . we love this cottage.

quaint beach house

This quaint little beach house was a great find! With multiple beds, 1.5 bathrooms, plus a large private shower and lovely hammock below the house, it was just right for our family with older teens. The small kitchen had everything we needed to cook many of our meals. The only thing we missed was a dishwahser, but they had a dishwashing wand that made it easy to wash dishes as we used them. We enjoyed eating our meals on the deck and relaxing there in the evenings. The beachfront location was the absolute best with amazing views. There were a lot of people on the beach over the holiday weekend, but it never felt crowded. Midweek the beach was so peaceful with only a few people around. The location was also convenient to the historic district, trails, and restaurants.

Great Getaway!

Can't say enough about this jewel of a property. We felt very much at home in this house that provides all the comforts of home. Very clean and well-equipped. Location directly on the beach is a dream come true. This was our second visit, and it was as good as the first.

Very quaint beach cottage. It was exactly what I expected from the posted images. Before I mention any issues, just know the beauty and closeness of the beach made up for them. This is a pet friendly property so with that you have some expectations. However, we had to cover the living room furniture in order to sit due to very strong pet smell in the fabric. The downstairs area was very unkempt and the previous guest did not pick up behind their dog. But as I said before it met expectation and the beach was pristine and close. One other issue to mention, the neighbor across the street was very nasty. One evening when family was leaving my 3 year old grand son was saying goodbye from the porch. The neighbor yelled across the street, " shut the **** up." That was disturbing. This of course was not the owners fault. The home is aged and could use some up keep. Beds were very comfy!

Ten plus stars for perfect location

The star quality of this house is location. It could not be more perfect for a beach get away, right ON the beach Yet close to whatever you need.. The house is a beach house, nicely decorated in ocean theme, comfortable, and welcoming, best points being the deck, the downstairs shower, and very well equipped kitchen..I must point out that although there is no dishwasher, there is a KEURIG for those who love them, so pack your K-cups..! There is a fantastic hammock below the house, I wish It was on the deck, but still very enjoyable to lay in and enjoy the sea breeze right where it is. We consider finding this house was a treasure for us and we look forward to returning.
