Envision your feet in the white sand, watching the many shades of blue Sapphire Beach has to offer. How will you spend your day? Playing with the fish and turtles on the reef at Sapphire Beach? Parasailing or jet skiing? Taking a charter to the BVI? Catching the ferry from Red Hook to St. John? Its all convenient from from "The Captain and the Mermaid" condo at Sapphire Beach, St. Thomas.

We invite you to share our piece of Paradise. We fell in love with St. Thomas because of the beautiful water, breathtaking scenery, fun atmosphere, and great people. We found that St. Thomas was our favorite vacation destination and kept going back year after year. We even got engaged and married on island. Our hope is that you too will fall in love with St. Thomas like we did.

"The Captain and the Mermaid" is a studio condo located at award winning Sapphire Beach in the gated Sapphire Village Condominiums. Our condo is located up the hill on the parking lot level (no stairs needed). Sapphire Village has 2 pools onsite and a restaurant/bar. Sapphire has its own watersports/dive shop located at the beach, a marina with charters, and is conveniently located a mile away from Red Hook on the East End of St. Thomas. Red Hook hosts a variety of restaurants/bars, shopping, ice cream shop, a grocery store and the ferry dock to help you island hop.

We have a sister condo VRBO number 1562495 that also sleeps 2, it is two doors down from this condo. If you're traveling with more people and looking for something close please take a look.

Clean and spacious place. Easy check-in with quick communication. We appreciated being close to the beach. It is a steep hill to/from the apartment to get to the beach and restaurants for those that may have mobility issues. Would recommend for those wanting to have beach access and be close to the Cruz Bay ferry.

The condo was nicely updated and it was clean. The extra fans really helped keep the room cool and comfortable so you donā€™t have to crank the AC, bc power is precious on the island . Itā€™s small but has everything you need for a stay. The host was awesome to communicate with and check in was a breeze . They even created a binder portfolio of all the tips and tricks for the island. There is no balcony, but the big windows next to the bed provide a stunning view of the ocean and beach. The only negative thing I will say is that the bed isnā€™t very comfortable, but itā€™s big! Itā€™s a short drive down to all the sapphire beach amenities or if you donā€™t mind walking hills itā€™s some good exercise to walk down and back up. I would definitely stay here again with my partner.

Came to stay for 2 nights with my adult son who lives in Tortola. This condo had everything we needed to enjoy our time together on the beach without the hassle. Restaurants were close by and easy taxi service to the airports and ferry. The condo was clean and spacious. Will definitely be returning.

The kitchen was fully stocked, coffee pods, sweetener, creamer... mocrowave, ice, you name it. The room was great..the air was cold, the staff was kind. Great stay.

Michael was great! When we got there the power had gone out on the island & we also werenā€™t sure of a path to the beach. He text us, offered to come up & walked us down to the beach. He & his wife even bought us a drink & gave us some tips for the island. The vrbo had all the beach things we needed!

We lived The Captain and the Mermaid. It was everything we needed for a short stay, but would also work for a longer visit. Itā€™s close to many things (beaches, restaurants, stores, etc in Redhook) and well appointed. Michael is a great host and responds lightning fast to any questions you may have. A great experience and we will return next time in St Thomas.

Great Time

Everything about this studio is spacious and in a great location. Less than a 5 minute drive to the ferry which is great if you are trying to explore St. Johnā€™s as well. Itā€™s about 4 mins to all the bars and restaurants which makes life very easy after a long day at the beach. They also let me check in early because no one stayed the night before which made our lives a lot easier when we got there. Thanks for a great week!

We loved staying here at this property and the host was very nice! It was super clean and beautiful! It had everything we wanted and the view was an absolute dream!! I highly recommend you book with them. It will be worth it. Just an fyi, it does sit on a steep hill. Most of the area does, so if you donā€™t rent a car beware that your calfā€™s will be made of steel by the end of your trip.

When we arrived, I noticed how dirty the outside of the refrigerator door was, with what appeared to be dried up spaghetti sauce or salsa, so this was a little concerning. My husband cleaned it off with windex. There were pretzel pieces on the couch, and long hair strands on the shampoo and conditioner bottles. The bathroom exhaust fan was filled with dust, and the toaster oven was in horrible condition. After so many great reviews, we had higher expectations for this unit. Positive: The beach is nice, restaurants on site are good, and the unit is buget friendly.

Mini moon

We did a quick mini moon after getting married and in between moving! It was the perfect quiet location, but with lots to do. We rented a car because liked being able to see different parts of island! It is a great location where if you will just stay local you donā€™t need a car and a taxi will do the trick! We absolutely loved it and look forward to coming back soon

Sailing vacatioon

Only stayed one night, but it was perfect for our needs. Very clean and a quick taxi from the harbor and restaurants. Didnā€™t have time to enjoy the beach but it looked beautiful from the condo.

Great rental in a nice area

This was the perfect rental for my friend and I during our stopover in St Thomas. Unit is nicely appointed and the owner/manager was very responsive to our questions. We will be staying again on our way back home.

Fun loving family that has found our second home in St. Thomas. We enjoy too many hobbies that range from playing with the our own and the neighborhood kids, to scuba diving, snorkeling, to biking on and off road, Rock climbing kayaking and lots of other adventures that we seem to stumble into as we enjoy our days.

We enjoy traveling to lots of places in the Caribbean and seem to find ourselves returning time and again to St Thomas. We fell in love with the beautiful Virgin Islands. Sapphire beach offers the best snorkeling and beach combo in our opinion. The location being so close to Red Hook make it ideal. When we found this property we were pleased and felt we couldn't pass it up and would like to make it available to others to enjoy as much as we plan to.

Excellent views, amazing snorkeling, close to the beach while able to enjoy the sea breezes since the building is located up on the hill. The amenities are enough to keep you happy while still making you want to venture out and see what else the island has to offer.
