Los Bohios - Peaceful, breezy, amazing views!!!

Los Bohios is a private, comfortable home on the picturesque island of Vieques. The best beaches and the largest US Fish and Wildlife Refuge in the Caribbean, bioluminescent bays, roaming horses, breathtaking views, excellent al fresco dining, and fabulous weather are some of the reasons to visit Vieques. Los Bohios is a unique and magical place on this undiscovered gem of an island, close to the beaches and the night life but surrounded by pasture land and completely private. The house has a gourmet kitchen, indoor and outdoor dining, lush gardens, and US cell phone service and WiFi for staying abreast while enjoying the best of island life. All windows and doors have screens and there are ceiling fans and constant breezes throughout. Conveniently located, it is just a 2 minute drive to Esperanza, and a 5-20 minute drive to everything else, including the best beaches. Los Bohios also has an on island caretaker who is full of helpful information and who will be available to meet you and help you get settled in.

Perfect Getaway

Los Bohios ("The Huts") is a beautifully landscaped complex consisting of a central building (living/dining/open kitchen) and two guest cottages (each with their own bathrooms and outdoor showers) situated on a hill overlooking Esperanza bay. All three open onto a gorgeous pool and terrace with plenty of seating. Our group was comprised of four adults (ages 72), one of whom relies on a rollator to get around, so we spent much of our week relaxing by the pool and enjoying the total privacy, stunning views, local wildlife, and lovely breezes. Had we decided to venture out more, there are many beaches and other waterfront activities (sailing, kayaking, BioBay tours, etc.) nearby.The very helpful property manager, Colleen, met us upon our arrival and showed us around the property; after that she responded promptly to any texts we sent her. We appreciated her lengthy list of recommendations for local restaurants, grocery shopping, etc. I highly recommend Los Bohios to anyone looking to truly "get away" from it all.

Magical getaway!

Can’t say enough about Los Bohios, a beautiful secluded spot overlooking the Caribbean Sea. Everything you’d ever need is there for you, amazing kitchen to make wonderful dinners, plenty of indoor and outdoor spaces, close to town and great restaurants, truly a magical place. Colleen is always so attentive with any questions that may arise as well as places not to miss. This is my second visit to Los Bohios and definitely will not be my last!

Vieques!!!

We had an amazing time. Colleen was very helpful before and during our stay. The pool was just amazing and we all used it to stay cool during our “at home” times. The outdoor showers were great and helped us keep the sand out of our beds. We loved having shared but somewhat separate space.

Bohios Retreat

Bohios is a very quiet, gorgeous setting with a nice view of the ocean facing south. Some days we just stayed at the villa and swam in the large pool. Daily visits by a local wild horse herd was a bonus.

Spectacular

My two adult kids and I spent a week at this utterly magical getaway, and are already planning to return. Everything was perfection- the views were stunning, the layout of the main living area and separate sleeping areas was wonderful, and the main house was comfortable and welcoming. It was just incredible to walk right out into the pool, and soak in those gorgeous views. I'm a serious chef, and the kitchen was stocked with anything and everything one might need. We grilled lobsters, made seafood paella, and had many, many delicious breakfasts- I never wanted a tool or appliance- everything was on hand. The sunrises every morning were just beautiful, and cocktail hour was spent in the pool most days. It was a quick and easy drive into Esperanza, and we also enjoyed ice cold beer and bar snacks at Robin's Bar, which was conveniently located at the driveway entrance! Wild horses were often seen outside the fence, we had an occasional cat or iguana visit the pool, and enjoyed watching the diverse bird population fly by. This is a beautiful property, and perfect for a multi generational getaway.

New home away from home.

Cant say enough about this spot. Pictures do not do it justice as it exceeded our expectations. This location made it hard for us to leave each day and explore Vieques as the pool and property were a paradise with in its self. Having separate living quarters made it the best place to invite friends and enjoy their company in the shared living space but enjoy the privacy of our own space. Already planning next trip. Thanks Colleen for making this trip so special and all your recommendations around the island. See you next year.

Fabulous!!

Pictures don’t do this place justice. Perfect for a three generation family. The pool, the views and the three cabana set up make it ideal for anyone. Colleen is fantastic and responds immediately to any questions.

Blissful Bohios

Thank you to the owner who has shared this piece of island beauty. The getting here is a bit complicated and then there’s the road, ha😁 Definitely need a 4 wheel drive but the road is not too long and then you’re at this incredible hilltop with nothing but views of the Caribbean and a green paradise with horses and roosters wandering by. At night the stars are brilliant and you’ll be serenaded to sleep by the tree frogs especially after a dinner cooked in a well equipped kitchen, and a swim in the pool and using the outdoor showers.

Don’t hesitate to book this house

This house was perfect. Our kids got to stay in their own space and we got to have our privacy. Colleen is so helpful with any information you could need. She was able to get us a car for the whole stay when we booked late. The house opens to a beautiful view and the pool was so nice at the end of the day. When we go back I will try to get this house again.

Most amazing stay EVER

We loved every single detail of Los Bohios and already are planning our trip back. The worst part of it all was saying goodbye! We used the pool and/or hot tub every single day .. it’s the dreamiest most perfect rental imaginable. I will miss waking up to the most amazing views and morning yoga by the pool.

Stay like a local

We love this house. The location is awesome! It’s a quick trip down the town or the end of the driveway stop at a market or get a bite to eat. The pool area it was fantastic! Tons of sitting options and so comfortable. We love the uniqueness of the three buildings of the house. It was great for our family with young children! One thing I would do in the future with this house and bring a baby monitor… As my children are four and five and they usually need some thing in the middle of the night! So we slept in the adjacent queen instead of in the master bedroom, but I would preferred to sleep in the master bedroom with a baby monitor.

Idyllic beach vacation

We had a wonderful stay at Los Bohios. The house and pool are beautiful. We loved opening all the doors and enjoying the view of the ocean. Colleen helped us feel welcomed and was able to provide lots of helpful information for our stay. We hope to be back soon!

Great vacation!

Property is awesome. Private, secluded, comfortable,relaxing with nice view of bays. Colleen met us a house, got us settled and let us know that we could contact her anytime if needed. It was just two of us and we thoroughly enjoyed house and pool. The breezes blowing made it so relaxing while lounging around. Thank you Colleen! Bill & Heather

Amazing stay!

Los Bohios and the property manager, Colleen, were really great! I visited Vieques for the first time with my husband and my teen daughter and her friend. The separate living areas were perfect for privacy and the shared living areas were great for time together. The house, the property and the view were beautiful. Colleen was great with helpful information and answered any questions we had during our stay. We already want to get back to Vieques and would definitely stay at Los Bohios again. Angie

Phenomenal time at Los Bohios

We arrived at Los Bohios and were thrilled with every aspect of this idyllic spot. We had our two adult children and their partners with us and the accommodations were fantastic - very comfortable, everything you need to enjoy being on the property and to explore Vieques. The pool is gorgeous, super comfy outdoor spaces and the kitchen is great to cook in as a group. Bedrooms are private and beds are terrific. Thank you for sharing your piece of paradise with us! We'll be back!

Amazing vacation!

This was our second time to Vieques and first time staying at Los Bohios. The property is stunning and fit 3 families perfectly. The pool was perfect for the little ones and the hot tub was a bonus! The view from the pool and living room was just beautiful. The property is very private so you don't need to worry about seeing or hearing any neighbors. The kids loved running around the huge yard and seeing the horses surrounding the property. We enjoyed grilling and playing board games at night. There are coolers, snorkel gear, beach chairs AND a beach tent for the kids in the laundry room to use on the beach. The only thing we didn't have were buckets and shovels for the kids, but we made due without. There are plenty of spices and left over condiments from previous guests ( we also left some for the next guests) which was nice. There is no AC but you really don't need it. All 3 bedrooms have ceiling fans (master has 4) which provided enough circulation and the cool breeze kept us comfortable at night. We didn't sleep with the doors open just for fear of getting bit by mosquitos. Unfortunately the heater on the pool wasn't working so we didn't swim at night but the hot tub was perfect. There is a house alarm which we used when we were out but felt very safe the entire time we were there. We ate out a few times in Esperanza but mostly cooked/grilled at the house. We previously stayed in Isabel and enjoyed Esperanza so much more. The strip of shops and restaurants is very cute and has a beautiful view of the ocean. There are also 3 markets close by to buy food and alcohol. The beaches here (in my opinion) are some of the most beautiful in the caribbean. Crystal clear water, white sand and no rocks or shells. Our favorites are Blue beach (la Chiva) and Pata Prieta. We found these to be the least crowded and had the calmest water. We were fortunate to have gone the week when there was no moon so we did the bioluminescent bay tour and really enjoyed it. You definitely need to rent a car to get around the island. The house is located on top of a hill and nothing is within walking distance. Colleen the property manager was very helpful with getting us info on car rentals, ferry times and flight info. We hope to come back again soon!

Location, view, amenities, Los Bohios does it all

We decided to try the island of Vieques for our annual family holiday vacation. Our daughter found Los Bohios on line and after several conversations with Colleen, the property manager, we decided to try the house. It's not easy to get family members residing in different states with different needs and different arrival and departure dates coordinated but Colleen helped with many of the tasks including buying diapers, detergent, beach tents, snorkel gear, etc. Ahead of time for our 6 month old grandson. She also coordinated our rental car pickup and gave us valuable info regarding how to navigate this sleepy island. The property itself was clean, well appointed, the pool area with views was not only lovely but perfect for a baby. The "bohios" being separate bedrooms/bathrooms with a central living/kitchen area were perfect for our grown children in terms of privacy. The games and puzzles were a nice distraction and no one missed television. Being located outside of Esperanza but close for some meals was also great. We loved our stay and hope to go back next year!

Great location with amazing views!!! Perfect for a family getaway!

The pictures on here and on their website do not do this place justice! Los Bohios far exceeded our expectations with it's lush greenery, vast views of the Caribbean ocean, cleanliness, and spacious accommodations. We loved everything about this property and we can't wait to come back. Colleen the property manager was extremely helpful with all of our questions and gave us lots of information about the island itself. You must pick Los Bohios if you are choosing to travel to Vieques! You will not be dissappointed!

Paradise Found!

My family and I just returned from the most amazing vacation in Vieques! Our stay at Los Bohios was, quite honestly, the best part of our time there. Due to our early morning risers, ages 5 and 7, we were all ready to hit the pool by 7am every day. We cranked the tunes, opened up the doors, and enjoyed our daily pool parties. While far enough away from others as to not be a nuisance, we were still close enough to activity to not be completely isolated. Esperanza is about a five minute drive from the house. The kitchen is very well-appointed! Anything you could possibly need is within reach. The three outdoor showers were a highlight as well. There is no air conditioning, but it's really not needed. The only times I wished I had it were when I would wake in the night to the serenade of the coquí. We felt like we were in good hands with Colleen as our contact on the island. She is a great resource for the inside scoop on the island. She was extremely easy to get in touch with both before our vacation, and while in Vieques. She was also able to address any questions or concerns I may have had. Thank you so much, Colleen! We can't wait until we come to visit again!

Couldn't be better

I visited Los Bohios while it was under construction and thought it was an amazing place. Everything was confirmed following our stay. The grounds are magnificent and made for an ideal getaway with the family. There are issues with internet connectivity which should be addressed and I believe there should be satellite TV available.
