I’m so glad I chose this place over a hotel room. Very spacious, modern and love the extra sitting room. Everything was on point. The area was beautiful. I wish I could just live here.

Overall, a very good stay. Amazing historic space with modern fit-out and amenities. Great location with a tram stop and line to key locations and central station very close by. Apartment was a little worn from use and some additional chairs for lounging and dining for 4 people would have been useful.

We stayed at De Jonker for a long weekend just gone. We were very sceptical about staying here to be honest, after reading quite a few negative reviews. All I can say is our experience was totally different. We had a last minute room change via email, so I think potentially our room was a deluxe suite. We found the room to be clean, comfortable and with everything we needed. The bathroom and shower was lovely, we had a little rail for our clothes, clean bedding and towels, and complimentary toiletries and use of an ironing board and iron downstairs. The location was great for us, the number 14 tram takes 7 minutes, if that, to get into the centre, and the tram stops literally across the road outside of the hotel. A few doors down from De Jonker is an amazing breakfast place called Box Sociaal, we went twice and would highly recommend. We had absolutely NO issues with the QR code our whole trip, I’m not sure if they have changed the system since previous reviews or if people just weren’t perhaps scanning it with their screen brightness turned up enough or at the right angle, but not once did we struggle to enter the property with ours. All in all we had a very comfortable, peaceful and enjoyable stay at De Jonker and based off of our experience, would definitely return. Thank you! :) Olivia

Good location to restaurants and sites. Walked everywhere. The air conditioning was not working at the time we were there. Which was inconvenient and uncomfortable.

High tech high maintenance checkin.

Very sophisticated high tech hotel. Constant emails during my trip and just keeping up was a hassle. QR code to get in wasted a lot of time answering emails taking away. From my pleasure trip. Room was very nice although a bit dark in the hallway of the room. If your not into technology and having international cell phone service, this is not the place for you.

Although the Deluxe Suite was extremely big, a lot of wear and tear is already visible on the walls, doors and floors. Curtain was tore half off and couldn't close anymore. Advice to also dust in the less visible places. All and all, good enough for one night. Would not stay there for longer.

Room was good but very warm meaning we had to leave window open permanently which then meant road and people noise at night became an issue Good location just outside centre but on tram line Disappointed there was no availability for late check out or luggage storage- offer of use at sister hotel 2km away! The property was dirty and the walls damaged, the carpet was due replacing many years ago. Expedia is not much better as they're not looking into it or responding to my emails. Crappy stay. Definitely DO NOT RECOMMEND

This property was located in a very nice neighbourhood with the Artis tram stop less than a block away. The Zoo was just across the street from the hotel. It was an easy walk to a grocery store and the inner city. The Museum District was a longer walk away. The suite was worn out. The carpets looked awful (dirty, cigarette burns) so we were fortunate to have our slippers with us. The dark painted walls were chipped throughout the suite contributing to the worn look. The bathroom was upgraded, the bed reasonably comfortable and the sheets were clean. The kitchen was small and minimally equipped but did the job. The staff were excellent. They were always friendly and were responsive to our requests.

We had a great time staying here in Amsterdam. As a family with young kids, I was hesitated to take them to Amsterdam hence super careful with the location of our hotel. Came around de jonker, thought I’d give it a go, it didn’t disappoint at all and tbh it was over our expectations and was one of the highlights of our mini holiday in Amsterdam. We got a very nice two story room, with two en-suite, very spacious and high ceiling windows looking out to the nice view cross the road. The area is walking distance to city centre if for my two young kids, we didn’t need any public transportation at all. Loads of restaurant walking distance to the hotel. The reception was super friendly, although the QR code system was a bit of a inconvenience, we had a little panic first arrived, but called them and they sorted it straight away. Would always be our first option going to Amsterdam in the future

JÀttebra, stor lÀgenhet med ett extra rum dÀr det fanns en bÀddsoffa. Lungt och trevligt omrÄde. Frukost kan fÄs pÄ ett cafe nÀstan vÀgg i vÀgg med hotellet. LÀtt att ts sig in till city, antingen gÄ eller med spÄrvagn som stannade ca 100m frÄn hotellet. Kan verkligen rekommendera detta.

Some pain points

Overall, my stay was very nice. Everything was so clean. Now for the cons: If you’re an older person who’s not using your cell phone for everything, don’t stay here. You need your email accessible from your phone so you can use the QR code to enter the building and your room. The bathroom lighting around the sink was HORRIBLE!!!! It’s so dark in there, very difficult to do anything at the mirror.

Fantastisk lokation. Vi blev taget u mod af en rigtig rar ung mand, som lukkede os ind pÄ vÊrelset allerede 14.30. SkÞnt med et lille tekÞkken, dog var remedierne meget sparsomme - der var kun en pande, til at lave lidt mad pÄ. Vi spurgte efter en gryde, men fik den aldrig. Vores lagen, bÄde fÞr og efter rengÞring, havde nogle smÄ mÞrke pletter. SkÞnne omgivelser, nemt med QR-kode til adgang, ingen stÞj fra hverken gade eller andre hotelbesÞgende. Tram dejligt tÊt pÄ.

Really comfy beds. The apartment was spacious. It was in a nice area and easy to get the bus into central Amsterdam. Also easy to walk into the centre. The staff I met was very nice. On the down side, the kitchen was poorly equipped, with very sparse crockery and pans etc
 The bathroom could also have been better equipped with soap etc..

Should have booked a real hotel room


Getting in and out of the hotel and room are by QR code and the technology is very poor. The location is unattended which makes it more difficult. The rooms are dark with broken plugs, clogged drains (they did quickly address) and dirty
 carpet and woodwork hadn’t been cleaned in months to get the dirt build up they had achieved. Our room ended up in the basement down a very steep stairs that would not be considered legal in most countries. Pay a little more and get a real hotel room.

Lovely hotel with good service

Property is lovely and in a nice area. The first room we had included stairs which wouldn't work for my partner, but they happily changed rooms for us. Only real issue was the poor Wi-Fi strength, something that had come up before in these old European hotels.

All was well, spacious room. Be aware that this is the darkest room I've ever stayed in. The lighting in the bathroom is laughable and one of the lights in the main room didn't work so good luck to any women looking to do any sort of skincare/makeup routine
