Decent small hotel

Nice rooms, friendly staff. Avoid the bar on the ground floor with its rude staff.

Space to relax in comfort

NYC is known for expensive small rooms but The William was positively palatial. Having a kitchen kept food costs down and view with sunshine in the morning a lovely way to get up to explore the city. No tourist surcharge! No extra hidden costs. Everything we could need and great service if we needed. Downstair Shakespeare bar a safe haven for drinks and food. We stayed a week and could not fault it.

I would have given this hotel rating of five stars, but the night I visited, there was a very loud party on the first floor (I was on the 5th) that went well after midnight.

It was great. I strongly suggest getting the kitchenette. We were able to cook and relax. Tv didn’t work in one room but we didn’t watch enough anyway. Bar downstairs and the bar further downstairs seemed cool but we didn’t go. If you go stay here tell them I said hello!

Great location and spacious rooms

Really good location about 5 minutes walk from the Grand Central Terminal. Safe neighbourhood. Perfect if you arrive from JFK with the Air Train to Jamaica and then the Long Island Rail Road to Grand Central. Rooms really spacious by NYC standards and clean. Be aware of the fact that this is not a full service hotel and that the front desk is not open 24/7. However, the entry codes work very well and the staff is really friendly. In case you have some disability then it might be problematic to get in when the front desk is not open - the stairs from the street to the entrance are quite steep.

UNCOMFORTABLE AND UNSAFE This is not truly a hotel- more like a high design hostel. The bed was incredibly uncomfortable, the TV did not work and room and towels wreaked of bleach. Most importantly, as a woman traveling alone for work this "hotel" is not safe. It does not have 24/7 staff and the entire first floor is a bar. There are no keys (you have to input all of your information, CC ad ID into an app - digital privacy is another topic) and are given an access code. Anyone with the access code can enter the hotel. There are no id swipes for the elevator so anyone at the bar can get to any floor of the hotel. The access code opens the room and there are NO interior physical locks. Given that there is no one at the front desk after 10pm.... it's not a safe place. Not staying here again and would not recommend.

The location was great. It’s near everything. The outside hotel area had planters with plants missing from having recently been pulled out. The plants and their mulch were scattered across the sidewalk creating debris and muck. It was thete before we arrived and not cleaned up until the middle of our third day. The stairs to hotel were very steep, high, and uneven
bordering on dangerous. Must be strong and agile to lift your luggage up
 no available street level accessibility. Upon entering, while likely an impressive building, the halls were very dark and the beautiful side rooms (parlors) were essentially hidden and seemed inaccessible. there were two locked hall entrance doors to out floor “A” and “B”. “B” locked as intended. “A” did not. The latch was slightly off so that even though the handle was in a locked position, the door could be easily pushed open. Hall and room locks are opened with a 9 digit code, which was a good idea. However, lighting was so poor it was hard to see the face of the lock and therefore often took multiple attempts to open. The bedroom was large and comfortable. Had double beds, could have easily fit queens. Kitchen was well equipped, possibly over equipped, except no microwave. Bathrooms were short towels, but staff quickly corrected that. Staff was pleasant and helpful when needed, but as intended scarce. The bar required reservations even for hotel guests. Despite a restaurant in the lower level, there was no room service.

Boutique Hotel, close to Grand Central

Overall a nice place. Friendly and well located on Manhattan. I had a very clean, spacious and quiet room with a small kitchen area. The bathroom had everything you would need, big shower. The bed was comfortable and the linen of nice quality. My only complaint is that the room didn't have a work area. The very friendly and service minded manager, promised she would look into it for other guests.

I just had surgery, arrived and checked in to my room, the room was freezing, when adjusting the thermostat it did not work properly I took a bath and the water was only tepid warm, the bathtub leaked so water was all over the floor Alerted staff at front desk, personal came up and wiped the floor down, they could not give me another room as hotel was booked Next day maintenance came to fix the bathroom but nothing was done about the thermostat I was in room 407, terrible room that needs to be repaired for all its faults I was stressed and very uncomfortable and had a horrible stay Also there is no manager available, only by email It’s ridiculous to rate this as a 4 star hotel or give it any rating at all This is by far one of the worst hotels in the Marriott chain

Excellent stay in a great location

Excellent stay. In a great location and surprisingly quiet given its midtown. Staff were super friendly. Room was modern and had everything we needed. Only downside was that there was no safe in the room.

Very contactless and you pretty much have to download the hotel app to have a seamless stay. There is no room cleaning unless you request it and pay $35 for the service. Busy lobby bar but wasn’t intrusive for me. It was a pleasant stay, but very self-service.
