Lovely villa in friendly Kato Valsamonero
This beatiful villa is situated on the hills outside Rethymnon in the small sleepy village Kato Valsamonero. I really loved the early morning walks where I soon got a Kalimera from the café, the barking dogs greeted me and the valley was full with fig-lemon- and olivetrees.
The villla is excellent for two families with it's four bedrooms and three bathrooms. All the bedrooms are on the upper flor with beatiful views. We enjoyed to cook in the well equipped kitchen and was pleased to find herbs and olive oil. We only missed a beater for the traditional Swedish midsummercake with strawberries and cream. The pool was very nice and big enough for a little swim and a float on the madrass. The terrace was excellent for "home taverna" and long warm evenings. Our children called the house our Greek Castle.
We went to two different beaches. The nearest small beach with a nice taverna next to the white church and to the Platanias. Next time we will go to the beaches on the road to Chania they looked more calm and close to enter.
We recommend a visit or two to Rethymnon where you can find good restaurants in the warm alleys. The children loved the small shops. (Age 5, 10, 12,14) The traditional taverna in Agios Andreas is also very good and friendly.
At last we would give our warmest recommendation for the Elisavet Kallitsounaki family. They really did everything they could to give us the best greek holiday experience. Thank you and we hope to see you again!
