It was actually even better in person. The pictures do not do it justice. Absolutely beautiful place. We had a small issue with the electrical but did not take away from the experience. I wish I knew the history of the home, maybe a little note/paragraph on the age and so on.

Rusty: Thanks for your review. I have attached some information about the old house. This 150-year-old Acadian Creole home was crafted by French Creole descendants to embrace their culture and accommodate the unique environmental needs of South Louisiana. The architectural design features a raised platform, protecting it from Louisiana’s frequent flooding. Constructed from durable cypress timber, the structure is held together with wooden pegs and rests on above-ground piers. The home’s pavilion-style roof—developed in the Caribbean—forms a tent-like shape, while deep porches wrap around the front and back, offering shade from the sun and capturing cool breezes. In the early 2000s, the home underwent extensive renovations to preserve its historic integrity while incorporating modern additions, including a garage and a home theater. To accommodate this addition, An abandoned Acadian-style home was rediscovered near the Mississippi River levee in Modeste, Louisiana and carefully dismantled. Piece by piece, the cypress boards were transported to their current location on Swamp Road, where the home was lovingly repurposed under the watchful eyes of our father. This home is a labor of love, nurtured daily by the devoted caretakers of the Burnett family. It stands as a cherished legacy, welcoming generations to come. Here, you are invited to laugh, love, and create lasting memories. This beautiful property was the perfect setting for our 55th anniversary celebration. Our out of town guests stayed in the vintage home and they really were impressed and felt pampered. The rooms were spacious and charming. The stairs were a challenge for our over 75 guests. I would suggest that light colored strips be applied to each step to help those with failing eyesight see each step better. The kitchen was fantastic with the chef's range and industrial refrigerators. The guest house was ideal for getting dressed before the ceremony.i would recommend this beautiful home to anyone but especially for those looking for a venue for a small event.

Beautiful property! It was comfortable with plenty of space for a crowd. Property manager was great. Stayed with a group for a game weekend. There's actually 5 total bathrooms counting the ones in the additional spaces.

We had this property as the wedding bridal house for the night before and day of getting ready location for my daughter and her bridesmaids. The house and grounds were a perfect location for us all to get dressed, enjoy the day and take pictures before the wedding. The house was gorgeous and very spacious. The kitchen is fully equipped with industrial sized appliances, fridge and freezer had plenty of room! The bathrooms were all nice and big. The mother in law suite in the back yard was perfect for privacy. We had a lot of fun using the awesome media room and bar area. Plenty of parking for everyone. TVs in every room, great for entertaining! The owners and care taker were very responsive and have us a tour as we arrived. Thanks so much!! Great place!!
