Avskilt, privat, men ändå nära bekvämligheter, ligger stugan på en avskild 9 tunnland trädbevuxen mycket tillsammans med ett annat hus. 100yd promenad till den privata bryggan (delas med det andra huset). Monterey ligger högre i Berkshires (ovanför Great Barrington), så luften är sval och uppfriskande under större delen av sommaren. Stugan har totalrenoverats och är utrustad med WiFi och luftkonditionering. Nytt kök med öppen planlösning har ett komplett utbud av apparater, inklusive diskmaskin. Frontstvättmaskin och torktumlare i full storlek. Vardagsrummet innehåller en plysch L-formad soffa, platt-TV / DVD-spelare med direkt-TV-paket, vedspis och solstolar. Inomhus och utomhus matplats. En 15 minuters promenad från stugan ligger byn Monterey, MA. Prickad med pre-koloniala byggnader, är det en dold juvel i Berkshires. Kom in i Monterey General Store (etablerat 1780), där du kan köpa gourmetprodukter, ta bort måltider, nybakat bröd och pajer, eller äta en utsökt lunch på dess däck vid floden. Inom gångavstånd finns en ärlighet gårdstativ där du kan få de färskaste grönsakerna, liksom en gård som producerar getost från sin egen besättning. Monterey är hem till det historiska Bidwell-museet. Quiet calm in the forest

Quaint private cabin just a stroll from the lake. We enjoyed pieced up quiet Indian summer days and cool evenings. A great place to get away from the stresses of life.

Late summer vacation

My father, husband and I spent a lovely week at this Monterey cottage with our older dogs . We enjoyed lazy mornings chatting over coffee on the porch , kayaking around Lake Garfield and exploring quaint Berkshire towns. Kitchen is well equipped and TV room is comfortable.

Quiet cottage near lake

Cottage was clean, inviting and well appointed. We had everything we needed and our focus was on hiking, kayaking and biking. The location is tucked away off a private gravel road which is exactly what we wanted. Loads of fun family time when weather permitted and board games kept us laughing when stuck inside. We’ll be back!

Few days at the lake

Spent a lovely few days at the cottage in the woods by the lake - paddling and fishing and enjoying nature. Very private and peaceful and everything needed for a time away, yet close to many Berkshire haunts and activities if desired!

Wonderful Lakeside Cottage

Beautiful cottage by Lake Garfield. The cottage was very comfortable, clean and had everything needed for a peaceful and relaxing vacation. The cottage is part of a beautiful property on beautifully kept grounds. The host is very responsive and helpful. We can’t wait for our next visit. Highly recommend!!!!!

Relaxing getaway

We really enjoyed the cottage. It is perfect for a couple trying to get away and disconnect. We loved using the wood stove for the ambiance more than anything. The near by hiking, restaurants and small town atmosphere were just what we needed.

Perfect Cottage in the Woods Overlooking a Lake

I loved it. Quiet, in the woods at the end of a dead end gravel road - no traffic. Lovely farmers porch to read and enjoy the wildlife and view. Fire pit in front yard. Property manager and owner very responsive. I was there in late fall so didn't use the kayaks and canoes available down by the lake. Met friendly neighbors on my walks. I definitely plan to return.

Woodland retreat

Very private, woodland sanctuary filled with birdsong. A lovely covered porch with comfortable chairs provided a great place to have morning coffee, read a book and watch the birds zooming among the trees. The cottage is well equipped and comfortable.

Lovely Relaxing Cottage

We had a lovely relaxing time at this cottage, whose location is a perfect mix of seclusion and convenience. The cottage itself is a quirky combination of new and old. Clean and comfortable, it was filled with many thoughtful details, like the wonderful bedding, buttersoft throws on the sectional sofa, nightlights, and lots of hangers. I did need to do some remote work while there (it’s hard to get away completely!), and was happy that the internet access was fast and reliable. As noted, the caretaker, Mike, was very pleasant, checking in to assure us he was around if we needed anything, but otherwise unobtrusive. During the course of our stay, temperatures ranged from low 30s to high 80s, and the cottage was comfortable throughout. The deep porch makes a wonderful outdoor space for rainstorms or hot sunny days. We ate meals out there, and used the rocking chairs to hang out and watch the wild turkey hen foraging in the woods. Great Berkshire vacation spot!

Fairly Open Floor Plan

There was plenty of room to place the food and personal items throughout…plenty of room for 2 of us. Felt there could have been a few more items in The kitchen, such as cookie sheet and grill utensils, but we managed (we cooked most of dinners there for the week). Overall, it was a good experience.

Exactly What We Needed!!!

We were looking for a true get-away, where we could spend a restorative week doing as much, or importantly, as little as we chose. The Cottage was roomy, cozy, with very comfortable beds, a wonderfully hot shower with excellent water pressure, and a VERY fully equipped kitchen - which we greatly appreciated. We took daily advantage of the canoe and kayaks and explored the little inlets of Lake Garfield. Beautiful birds, a charming red fox and many cute little chipmunks made appearances during our stay. The comfortable rocking chairs on the porch made a great place to read on a rainy day with a cup of coffee - and later, a glass of wine. A pretty perfect stay in the beautiful Berkshires!

Quiet hideaway

This cottage in the woods is very quiet and comfortable and has certain unexpected amenities such as gel mattresses, a washer and dryer and a gas grill. Despite the fact that we knew the cottage was not directly on the lake, it was still a bit of a disappointment to be so far away from it and to have to share a dock with the main house. Since the cottage is in the woods, the presence of spiders and other insects is a reality, especially around openings such as AC window units in the summer. All in all, we had a great time and were impressed with the renovation of the kitchen and bath. Monterey is also very well-situated for exploring the Berkshires. .

rustic plus

the listing made it appear we could walk right out our r door into the lake. I stead,we had to walk down a steep set p if slippery steps to a narrow dock. the cabin smelled if mildew and there were cobwebs and old bugs on the floor . the roof had been damaged and was not repaired. the place needs new bedding, furniture an overhaul. ....

Quiet, relaxing stay

This property is a lovely, quiet getaway in the Berkshires. Cottage has been totally renovated and is very comfortable. The cottage was clean with a kitchen that had everything we needed. Great wifi- another thing you don't always get in out of the way towns. The caretaker, Mike, was very responsive. We contacted him to say that the coffee maker didn't work and had a new one within hours. Lots of great hiking within 15 minutes of the cottage. Our suggestion for the cottage is a few night lights to make getting to the bathroom easier at night from the primary bedroom at the other end of the cottage. We brought our own as we always do. The photos are accurate- expect lots of steps down to the dock from the cottage. Space at the dock for multiple kayaks, canoes, etc. is limited. Know that the advertised Monterey General Store no longer exists, unfortunately. It is being turned into a Real Estate Office.

The perfect little getaway!

My family and I throughly enjoyed our stay. The cottage was perfect. Had everything we needed. The property and location were incredible. Since we stayed when all the leaves were falling we actually had a nice view of the lake and could let our kids explore the surroundings while we watched them from our campfire. My 5 year old actually cried when we left since she had to say goodbye to the cute stuffed animal bear that “lives” at the cottage. We plan to come back to this peaceful retreat.
