Oak Lodge is a contemporary bungalow overlooking Ballinakill Lake which lies between Cleggan and Letterfrack in the town-land of Moyard. Just around the corner is the beautiful Ardkyle Beach, or Ross Beach as the locals like to call it. A great area for walking there are some lovely loop-walks from the doorstep, and your own mountain (hill) to climb at the back of the house. The view from the top is amazing.

There is history in abundance here! Ballinakill grave yard is the resting place of Oliver St John Gogarty the famous poet and writer. The house itself was once rented by Garrett Fitzgerald who was Taoiseach from 1981-1987.
The house has been recently renovated and presents a peaceful and comfortable atmosphere nothing more relaxing than sitting watching the ever changing colours over the lake or taking the binoculars and seeing the otters playing and the fish jumping. If you like to fish for brown trout of an evening look no further. For those of you who enjoy food this is the best place to source good fish and then cook it in the well equipped kitchen! Or you might want to spend the day collecting shell fish or playing in the rock pools on any of the many beaches close by such as Cleggan Beach or Omey Strand. An ideal location for Hikers, and artists will find the colours and light in the area fascinating. Once have visited Oak Lodge you will want to come back again and again. This property is suitable for rental all year around.

Inside there is a large open plan kitchen diner and sitting-room area which is bright and Airy, Separate utility area with side door. Fridge, freezer, dishwasher, tumble dryer and washing machine, a five ring gas hob and two fan ovens. There are lots of cooking utensils and the kitchen is well thought out. Leading from the dining area into a hall there is shower room, a twin bedroom and a small cosy sitting room cassette style solid fuel fire. Upstairs two bright and airy king size bedrooms and a bathroom with bath which services both bedrooms.

Lovely house, great location, great value.

357 Oak Lodge - A very comfortable place

Oak Lodge is a comfortable base for exploring the area. The house is well equipped, has fast wifi and comfortable beds. It’s in a quiet location good for star gazing.

Lovely stay

Lovely house in a lovely location. One minus, the waterpressure from the shower is far to low. Upgrading it will give an excellent review for this cottage in the future.

Wedding in Connemara .

We stayed at Oak Lodge while attending our son’s wedding . Everything was excellent. So comfortable n clean . Hope to return again sometime to enjoy the comfort of such a lovely house . Breathe taking scenery and we had lovely weather. Florence .

Perfect location

Four words: perfect house, perfect holidays! We had a wonderful time there. Bright, nicely furnished house, great kitchen, lots of crockery and accessories, comfortable beds. Beautiful views. Quiet. With a car about 10 min to pubs, restaurants, beaches. Just one small blemish: the low water pressure in the shower and bathroom should be improved.

Wonderful house in a great location and pet-friendly too!

We stayed in Oak Lodge for a week in March 2024 and it is a lovely home to stay in. Everythign was clean and the instructions for operating everythign were clear. There was only two of us, plus our border collie so the house was big for our needs. Being dog-friendly, together with location is one of the reasons we chose Oak Lodge. It's a great base for a holiday in Connemara. There are so many things to do that are not far away, lots of great beaches and forest trails. Waking up to the stunning countryside is somethign I will never get used to. Highly recommended

Felt immediately at home

I liked the house and felt immediately at home in it. It's comfortable, welcoming, beautifully located, and warm when the outdoors isn't. My stay included a visit by Storm Ashley to the entire west coast and when the power went out for six hours, along with most of the internet, and followed eventually by the rest of the internet and the phone, the owners' attentiveness meant everything. I had a lovely week and highly recommend Oak Lodge. (And just a note: There are reviews here complaining about the water pressure. It's ordinary rural water pressure, perfectly adequate, much like mine in my own Canadian village. Maybe people who want city amenities and endless WiFi would be happier on an urban vacation?)

Super cottage

Nous avons passé un très bon sejour dans le Connemara. La cottage est très bien situé pour visiter la région. La vue est magnifique sur le lac, montagne et les moutons. Il est très bien équipé pour les vacances en famille. Le contact avec l'agence de location etait parfaite. Nous recommandons cette location.

A property with a view

We enjoyed the peaceful location of this property with its wonderful views across the lake and mountains beyond. However, although the property was generally comfortable we did have some niggles. The low water pressure meant that showers were more of a mission than a pleasurable experience. The bathrooms and the kitchen were clean but there was a lot of dust and dead insects that hadn’t been dealt with. There is clearly a great deal to see in the area and so we were a little disappointed that there was very limited information on hand in the property. Hopefully, this can be addressed for the benefit of future gifts.

Lovely cottage

We really enjoyed our stay, the house is light and airy, well-insulated and thoughtfully furnished and well-equipped. The situation and outlook were delightful. We felt very lucky to have chosen it and would love to come again.

Beautiful Home

Bright, cozy cottage in a great location. A very short drive from the town of Clifden and all of the attractions of North West Connemara. The cottage was immaculately clean, warm and the kitchen had every utensil and appliance you could possibly need. I really couldn't fault a single aspect of this property and it was excellent value for money. Thank you.

A very chill out stay

We spent a lovely Christmas & New Year here. It was spotlessly clean, well equipped and very comfortable. Our only disappointment was that the stove in the kitchen/dining was out of use, as this was the room we spent all of our day-time hours in. Thank you.

Oak Lodge stay

We had a really lovely relaxing stay in Oak Lodge, the house was in a picturesque peaceful, quiet location but still within easy each of Clifden and Letterfrack. This house had everything you could possibly need for a break away and we are already thinking about rebooking for next year.
