Om boendet

Barley Wood är ett historiskt hus fullt av karaktär och charm. Byggd 1801 för socialreformeraren och författaren Hannah More. Senare var Barley Wood hem för Wills Family-Bristol Tobacconists. Nu en del av YMCA Dulverton-gruppen och används för att skapa inkomster för välgörenhet, vi värd för många evenemang och grupputhyrning.
Huset ligger inom 11 tunnland trädgårdar och skog med fantastisk utsikt över Mendip Hills.
Med nio stora sovrum och fem stora badrum finns det gott om plats för hela familjen! Huset har också två stora rum för evenemang / gruppmat, en reception / lounge med öppen spis och piano och ett inhemskt kök fylld med allt det väsentliga. Ytterligare tre toaletter finns på bottenvåningen. Alla rum är dubbla, men vi kan lägga till ytterligare fem enkelsängar för barn och resesängar vid behov.
På platsparkering finns massor av utomhusplatser och en grillplats på platsen.
Vi rekommenderar gärna lokala restauranger, pubar och platser att besöka eller hjälpa till att ordna kockar för att servera på Barley Wood.

Amazing weekend away

The house was amazing and Zach was so so helpful and communicative throughout and even set up some dining space for us ahead of arrival on the Friday. We all had an amazing time and I would definitely stay here again!

Utter perfection!

We had the privilege of spending Christmas here. An extended family gathering from 4 countries. The house was just perfect for us. Comfy beds and lots of space too. The people who run this place are fabulous. The communicate promptly and are so helpful. Location was gorgeous too. We made magic memories!

Perfect celebration house

We had a wonderful stay here which far surpassed expectations. Every room in the property was lovely and there was plenty of space for 17 adults. There were plenty of very spacious bathrooms. The large hall was a particular highlight as an event space. The kitchen was small but well equipped enough to feed 17 over the weekend and the dishwasher much appreciated. Would certainly return for a celebration weekend in future.

An amazingly beautiful, comfortable house. The best weekend ever

We would definitely recommend this wonderful place to stay in. The owners and manager Lauren, were so helpful and couldn’t have prepared the house better for our stay. We had such a memorable weekend. The weather helped and we were also able to make use of the stunning extensive grounds. Thankyou.

Stunning

An absolutely beautiful property which is even bigger than you can imagine from the pictures. We were a group of six families and the house had more than enough space for all the adults and children. The grounds were beautiful with unbelievable views. Holly was a superb host. She stayed late to ensure we had everything we needed and was so friendly and thoughtful. We had a fantastic stay and will definitely be back! Then only improvement would be a dishwasher... With 19 of us there was a lot of washing up to do!

The House is owned by the YMCA Dulverton Group which is a registered charity. We are a social enterprise business, working to provide funds to house young people across Somerset and Devon. We regularly host weddings, conferences and group stays.

We offer a "home from home" with plenty of house and grounds for the group to use and enjoy. The house has been lovingly restored and boasts many original features including open fireplaces. Your booking profit goes straight to charity and helps a number of disadvantaged young adults to improve their current housing and work situation. Thank you!

Vad som gör detta boende unikt

We have eleven acres of grounds including woodland and a pond. Large function rooms are perfect for group dining and all our rooms are spacious and can have additional children's beds added. All the bathrooms feature freestanding roll top baths and showers, towels and shower gel provided.
We are licensed for wedding ceremonies and can arrange this is required. Parties are allowed by prior agreement and we have a music license until midnight.
