Curlew Cottage - en stuga för 2 gäster i 1 sovrum

Curlew stuga är en charmig 1700-talshus (dubbel) traditionell Manx stenstuga som behåller vissa originella funktioner med en öppen spis i öppen balk i vardagsrummet och sovrummet, men ändå uppdaterat för att ge mysigt, bekvämt, avkopplande boende med självhushåll, idealiskt lämpligt för ett par eller ensamresande. Perfekt för affärs- eller fritidsbesökare.

Stugan ligger i en lugn kullerstensgata i ett naturskyddsområde i hjärtat av historiska Castletown, med det magnifika medeltida slottet Rushen som en gång var hem för Kings and Lords of Mann samt de tre andra Manx National Heritage platserna The Old House of nycklar, Nautical Museum och The Old Grammar School inom 5 minuters promenad från stugan till centrum.

Curlew stuga ger enkel tillgång till alla lokala bekvämligheter i centrum som erbjuder ett brett utbud av affärer, restauranger, kaféer och pubar (inklusive den berömda Glue Pot Inn) samt en inomhuspool, tennisbanor och bowling green och golf länkar.

Curlew stuga är en utmärkt bas för att utforska den vackra Isle of Man. Strax utanför Castletown ligger de härliga stränderna i Derbyhaven, Scarlett och Langness.

Den omgivande landsbygden är idealisk för vandrare och fågelskådare med många pittoreska vandringsleder, glensar och plantager.

För motorcyklister och tävlingsfans är stugan bara 5 minuters promenad från Billown Road Race Circuit som är värd för det berömda South 100 Road Race som hölls den 2: a veckan i juli, och även TT / Classic road races i slutet av maj varje år och också pre / post Manx Grand Prix i augusti.

Curlew stuga är mycket lätt att nå från Ronaldsway flygplats ca 5 minuters bilresa och Douglas Ferry Terminal ca 20 minuters bilresa. Det finns taxibilar utanför flygplatsterminalen och Douglas-havsterminalen.

Med tillgång till kollektivtrafik bara 5 minuters promenad bort är stugan perfekt för dem som reser utan bil för att utforska ön.

This was a really nice little cottage, just right for what we wanted. Slight issue with parking,

We really enjoyed our stay, lovely area with good places to eat. The garrison in castle Douglas and the forge grill a short drive away were particularly good.

Nice and confortable

Curlew Cottage is a nice, cozy, place to stay. It has all you need on a holiday and it is situated in a quiet Street. Castletown is a good place to stay, especially this week, with the Grand Prix, because the circuit isn’t in this part of the island. It’s a Nice and quiet place to stay.

Quaint little home

This home is within a short walk from the quaint square of Castletown. It is really cute inside for two people. We only slept and had breakfast there everyday as we were out and about for the rest of the time. We enjoyed the village square and the restaurants there as well. Access to the rail station and catching the bus at the square was a real bonus. We would definitely stay there again!

The Perfect Place for a Couple to Stay for a Short Break in the Isle of Man!

Curlew Cottage was everything we hoped it would be! It was spotless, spacious and very comfortable! We had initially been concerned about the lack of parking but it proved to be no problem at all. And the private garden was perfect was sitting in in with a glass of wine in the evening!

7 night stay in the IOM

Cottage centrally located in Castletown for access to amenities eg: shops , buses , steam railway and pubs . Great atmosphere in and around the market square . On the whole a comfortable stay but the owners should make more of the garden to further enhance the property .

Pretty cottage, needs some improvements

Curlew Cottage, July 2024

Nice cottage, loved the bedroom & bathroom esp. Quiet setting, just 8 mins walk to the square. Kitchen a bit cramped, some things downstairs felt a bit tired, esp the cooker. A bit annoyed to have to buy a roll of bin liners for 2 bags. PARKING WAS DEFINITELY A CONCERN. Had to park badly Sunday evening, then rush out early next morning.

Good location in Castletown

Good location with short distance to town square for shops and Hotel/ Food. Small cottage on Mill Road, no parking outside. (Nearby roads can be used 5-10 minutes walk) Ideal to experience a Manx cottage for 2 people. Not very comfortable small double bed with lumpy pillows. No electric shaver point in bathroom (Needed to request a 2 pin adaptor plug from office in Castletown) Soft seats in lounge sofa. Very well equipped kitchen appliances and tableware etc. Garden overgrown - Weeds, needs maintenance.

Curlew

Curlew cottage is perfectly situated for easy access to Castletown on foot or in vehicles/motorbikes for trips out. It is tiny inside but for 1 person it was fine. Bed and en-suite upstairs all comfortable and warm. Kitchen had everything I needed. I didn’t go out to the garden but it was covered in what looks like artificial grass and the garden chairs were rusty. Not what I would expect from a holiday home as Island Escapes have very high standards. The sitting room could do with a side table to put drinks on when relaxing… car parking very tricky too as no spaces close to the cottage if you have heavy luggage. I probably wouldn’t stay in that particular cottage again but it was ok for the week I was there for the S100 racing.

Great base for exploring the island

A lovely traditional cottage in a convenient location. It had everything we needed during our week in the Isle of Man. Staff in the office were friendly and helpful. Two small shops locally, and places to eat in the town.

Visiting family and friends

Great location to visit family and friends. Plenty of local shops, cafes and pubs nearby. Parking is limited but we always found a spot close to the cottage. The cottage itself was compact, comfortable and full of character. Loved the local cat that visited through the bathroom window! Some upkeep to the back garden area is needed to create a more usable outdoor space. Overall we enjoyed our stay at Curlew Cottage, would definitely visit again.

Great location, bus, trains and town all walkable. However the cottage cleaning routine needs to be improved(cobwebs, dust behind sofa etc, windows dirty). The Garden needs attention&weeding!

Family Visit To The I.O.M.

Enjoyed our stay at Curlew Cottage as it was very convienent for visting family on the island . Very well equiped and comfortable .Near the local shops and lots of lovely places to explore near by.Compact ,but had everything we needed , I would definitly stay there again

Great little cottage in Castletown.

Great little cottage for two, has everything you need. In a quiet street in Castletown. Friendly, helpful locals has a good choice of restaurants and pubs. Local shops for self-catering. Efficient bus service will take you throughout the Island. No need to use your car. Suggest you get a Travel Card especially if you plan to use the steam and electric Trains, great value. We would recommend this property and would return.

Staycation at Curlew Cottage, Castletown.

A lovely Manx cottage in a paved street. On entering cottage we were met with a damp, musty smell, luckily nice sunny day, so got the windows open to let fresh air inside. Boiler was not on, so no hot water etc. Eventually located boiler in cupboard in the bathroom, no mention of this in the handbook, All switched, off. Eventually got it going. Sofa has seen better days, well past its sell by date, very uncomfortable and very low. Double bed which was quite comfortable, but duvet much to small, just barely covered the top of the bed. Towels in bathroom were hard, and much too small. A lovely bathroom with bath and a walk in shower, and under floor heating, when we located switch, by accident. Nice little secluded garden which we sat in, in the sun, but needs attention, Lots of weeds and a great big weed growing in front of the shed. With some TLC the cottage is full of character and would make a lovely holiday destination for a single person or a couple who are fit enough to manage the narrow, steep stairs.

Super cottage perfect for two

Fab cottage perfect for two in a very quiet street. Two up/two down with a small but lovely garden, perfect for breakfast in the sunshine. Kitchen very well equipped. Only feedback is some of the furnishings are a little dated, TV is not Smart and mattress is not comfortable for those with bad backs! Still would recommend this cottage, perfect location and we loved our stay. Lovely local extras on arrival.

Great location,easy access to everything in Castletown

Great time at cottage. You may want to look at the roof as the ceiling paint in bedroom is peeling. If you ever update the kitchen, you may want to look at a sink drainer as the water seem to go everywhere with the round sinks and worried that it may wet units. Move the washing machine if you can and put crockery in this space as more room to access it? The Kettle seemed to pour very badly and splash, so had to be used over sink. apart from that really enjoyed stay

Staycation in Castletown

We have just had a lovely relaxing few days in Castletown at the Curlew Cottage which is so conveniently situated for some lovely restaurants and fantastic walks. Highly recommend.
