Portland Place is a Basement apartment that gives much privacy and spacious indoor environment. It is located in a suburban area of Bath which also is quiet with people of all ages living nearby. It is surrounded by many attractions that Bath has to offer and it a short walk from Bath City Centre.
The long stay car park - Charlotte Street Car Park is a short walk that takes you through one of the amazing sights in Bath - Royal Crescent.

The property wasn't as far out of town as we'd envisaged, a healthy walk into town and back again at the end of the day!

Large apartment

Property was much larger than we expected, a good location and suited our family well. Parking was 10 minutes away but we did drop our bags and then park.Apartment was clean enough, a bit more tired than the photos but wish I had known there was not a dishwasher.It suited our needs perfectly as we generally used it for sleep and breakfast.

Great base to explore Bath

The property was very spacious and was in a good location from the centre of Bath. Shops, bars and restaurants were only around a 10-15 min walk away. Apartment was clean and tidy, beds extremely comfortable and a great shower too. We really enjoyed our stay and thought it was good value for money.

Comfortable, spacious, well stocked and an accommodating host who responded quickly when we needed.

This flat has all the modern amenities set in the basement level of a historic Georgian home. The original details blended well into the new. If you are an architecture buff, this will be an especially fun place to stay. The host was a lifesaver by accommodating us an extra night when we had car trouble. She responded quickly in our time of need. And of course Bath is beautiful!

A lot to love about this property

This was an intriguing property below ground but still managed to have plenty of daylight with windows in each bedroom plus a bank of sunny windows in the main living area. Lots of space for 4 of us. We didn’t realize how hilly Bath is beforehand and this apartment is atop a very steep hill. Plumbing in the half bath was problematic. Washing machine was very helpful despite no dryer.

Would not recommend

This rental has definite potential, but needs better management. 1. The manager is very responsive (on personal cell not on the VRBO app). 2. The shower has so much mildew it is disgusting. 3. The kitchen had a lot of dust. The plates, cups and cutlery looked dusty. 4. Cobwebs in living room and bedrooms. 5. Large spider in a cobweb in bathroom and another one in bedroom. 6. Sitting on the couch made us itchy. 8. Place smells mildewy. 9. Parking is a 12 minute walk from the location. 10. Sites are a far walk. 11. This is a lower level location and the people upstairs had loud music and were up until past midnight. 12. Felt very dirty being there. The photos look way nicer than the actual location. For the amount of money we are charged as a cleaning fee, the least that could be done is spray some tiles in the shower to clean out all the disgusting mildew. Again, this place has potential, but right now. I cannot recommend it.

Lacking in basics…

Every other place we have stayed charged a down payment at reservation or several weeks before the stay. This management company charged nothing until immediately before our departure and did not answer our repeated questions promptly. We almost booked another place for that reason. We paid for two bedrooms and two bathrooms, but one bathroom was out of service and had a padlock on the door. When we called we were told the toilet was not draining properly. A partial refund has not been mentioned. The one working bathroom shower also did not drain well, leading to quick showers to ensure it did not overflow. The mildew in the shower was disconcerting. The soap dispenser in the bathroom and kitchen were both empty. There were four coffee pods (one of which was damaged) for three people for three days. Place was at least a ten minute walk from the center of Bath and was all downhill, meaning all uphill coming back. Highly recommend Uber as they can get directly to Portland Place whereas the bus can’t get close. On a positive note, the beds were very comfortable and the place was very roomy. Decorated in IKEA throughout. With better management, this could be a decent place to stay. As it is, we cannot recommend it.

Calm and Comfortable stay in Bath!

We loved this flat! The property was exceptionally clean and had everything we needed. The location, albeit up high on a hill, is very close to everything you want to see in Bath. We loved coming home from our day trips and then heading downtown for dinner. The walk is around 10 minutes. The fact that the apartment has a powder room and a bathroom is a major plus, as well!

Fab apartment great to relax in when on a girly trip, walking distance to everything, just remember to take your trainers as very hilly! Would definitely stay again.
