A surprise find

A super find just above Ilfracombe town. We'll book again for weekends in the area as it's conveniently located and the apartment we had was great for a weekend, very well compacted and big enough for us. There is a hill on the short walk to & from town.

Not what was advertised

Accommodation had recently been refurbished which was lovely but toilet handle broken off. Advertised as having sauna, park, shop, arcade which were all non existent. Club house service was shocking and staff were rude. Pool was nice and we booked in each day to use this. We walked into town each day and ate there as we decided not to use clubhouse. You can walk into town but had to have taxis back as the walk back was extremely steep. We did it twice but it was not a easy walk. Overall accommodation was nice but was extremely disappointed to find out that facilities advertised were not there. Food was cold and service was disorganised. Wasn’t able to use the facilities as expected so had to change plans and use town in evenings. Once all refurbishments have been done and staff are more organised it would be a lovely place to visit.

Mixed experience

The property itself was fine for the price. It was let down by poor cleaning before we arrived - much of the cutlery and crockery was dirty. There was very little kitchen equipment - the owners are obviously not expecting guests to cook their own food.

After spending many very happy childhood holidays in Scotland and falling in love with the rugged beauty of the highlands, I wanted to find somewhere similar and closer. North Devon has all the rugged beauty slightly smaller hills, and so much to do around us, and on the water.
