Apartment Bozo Baska on the ground floor with terrace

BaĆĄka is the most famous tourist centre on the biggest Adriatic island, which position makes it the closest island to the Central European market. With its cultural heritage and offer in general, it is definitely one of the most interesting and attractive places on Croatian part of the Adriatic Sea as well as in Europe, which you can personally experience by staying in our apartments.

Sights and Attractions in BaĆĄka
One of the region's most attractive locations is undoubtedly the beach of Vela PlaĆŸa, the most popular with those who come to swim in the area. One of BaĆĄka's symbols, and a key element in its landscape, it is 1,800 metres (1.1. mi) long and faces a crystal-clear sea. Since 1999 it has been the proud recipieng of the European Blue Flag award, which testifies to its high-quality standards.
Many activities and entertainments await visitors there: restaurants and cafes are present all around it, and pedal boats, windsurf boards, beach umbrellas, and sun loungers are available for rent.
Besides Vela PlaĆŸa, BaĆĄka is also home to more than thirty beaches; the most famous of these are the ones near the bays of Vela Luka and Mala Luka, the FKK beach near the Bunculuka camp, and the beaches of Konjska, VrĆŸenica, Jablanovo, Storiơće, and Dubna.
While many beaches may be reached on foot, some require a boat or taxi boat ride; the view from a distance which the last option offers, however, allows for a better enjoyment of the gorgeous local beaches steeped in peace and quiet.
Top ten sights and attractions:
THE BAĆ KA TABLET
The Church of St. Lucy in Jurandvor houses a replica of one of the most significant Croatian monuments - the BaĆĄka Tablet. It is the oldest known document containing a Croatian personal name written in the Croatian Glagolitic script.
THE BEACH OF VELA PLAĆœA
The 1.8 km-long beach of Vela PlaĆŸa has been a symbol of BaĆĄka's landscape since the inception of its tourism industry. It is the recipient of the European Blue Flag Award that testifies to the high-quality standard of its environment, and is consequently the most popular summer destination for swimmers and beach goers.
THE „PATH TO THE MOON“
The „Path to the Moon“, 7,5 km long trail, is suitable for both hikers and bikers, and runs through a forest area for most of its length; it then reaches a completely barren area called the “Moon Plateau”, which is reminiscent of a rocky desert and is one of the region's must-see locations.
BAĆ KA AQUARIUM
In the very center of BaĆĄka you can learn about the rich and diverse underwater world of the Croatian Adriatic through one of the largest collections of Adriatic seashells and sea snails in Croatia.Aquarium BaĆĄka, on a 200m2area, is home to 21 aquariums with a hundred species of fish and four hundred species of seashells and sea snails.
ZIP LINE
Athletes, holidaymakers and families with children may enjoy the Edison Zipline, an off-road ride along more than 2 km of cables running through trees and a stunning landscape that will prove truly unforgettable.
BAƠKA’S GLAGOLITIC TRAIL
Baơka's Glagolitic trail meanders through the area’s landscape and the 35 stone sculptures showing all the letters of the Croatian Glagolitic alphabet that are displayed along its path. The BGT guidebook accompanies visitors along the trail by supplying the meaning and explanation of all the individual letters on show, as well as a map indicating the stones’ relevant location.
PRVIĆ ISLAND
A short boat ride suffices to reach Croatia’s largest uninhabited island that is also protected as a special botanical and ornithological reserve. Although Prvić is not suitable for either walking or exploring, there are several smaller coves along its coast to enjoy the sunshine and the sea.
THE BAYS OF MALA LUKA AND VELA LUKA
A hiking trail or a taxi boat ride convey visitors to Vela Luka, one of the most beautiful bays in the Adriatic Sea. An additional twenty-minute walk then takes them to the beautiful Mala Luka bay; the neighbouring archaeological site of the Corinthia fortress offers a stunning view of both bays.
THE MULTICELLULAR SHEEPFOLDS
Numerous hiking and cycling trails pass by multicellular sheepfolds, which are dry-walled structures employed to sort out and count sheep. These sheepfolds are a fundamental example of folk architecture and may be found in just two other locations in Europe, namely Wales (UK) and Iceland.
THE BATOMALJ SHRINE
The Church of Our Lady of Gorica, one of the oldest Marian shrines in Croatia, may be reached either via the Educational Trail, or by driving along a tarmacked road, or else by climbing a 237-step staircase. The church was built in 1415 and is renowned for its bell, which dates to 1594 and traditionally tolls when the bishop of Krk visits the BaĆĄka valley.

Vad som gör detta boende unikt

One of the region's most attractive locations is undoubtedly the beach of Vela PlaĆŸa, the most popular with those who come to swim in the area. One of BaĆĄka's symbols, and a key element in its landscape, it is 1,800 metres (1.1. mi) long and faces a crystal-clear sea. Since 1999 it has been the proud recipieng of the European Blue Flag award, which testifies to its high-quality standards. Many activities and entertainments await visitors there: restaurants and cafes are present all around it, and pedal boats, windsurf boards, beach umbrellas, and sun loungers are available for rent.Besides Vela PlaĆŸa, BaĆĄka is also home to more than thirty beaches; the most famous of these are the ones near the bays of Vela Luka and Mala Luka, the FKK beach near the Bunculuka camp, and the beaches of Konjska, VrĆŸenica, Jablanovo, Storiơće, and Dubna.
The 90 kilometres (56 mi) of marked hiking trails to be found in Baơka provide the opportunity to familiarise oneself with the area in a radically innovative fashion. Once the “Trail to the Moon and Back" has been followed all the way up to the „Moon Plateau“, a visit may be paid to the church of St. Lucy, where one of the most valuable monuments of Croatian history - the Baơka tablet- has been found; those who wish to devote the entire day to hiking, on the other hand, may choose to follow the trail as far as the bird sanctuary of Kuntrep.
In the early morning hours in the summer months a walk to either Vela Luka or Mala Luka is warmly recommended: visitors may enjoy these beautiful bays until the late afternoon, and then make their way back into town in the comfortable shade afforded by the falling evening.
There is a rich selection of trails from which visitors may choose; regardless of which one they pick, it can be guaranteed that there will be a special moment and a stunning view that will make their hiking efforts worth their while.
The network of cycling trails begins right after the Krk Bridge and may be followed all the way to BaĆĄka, where both road and mountain biking trails await visitors to show them some of the most beautiful views they will ever encounter in their lives. Cycling is a great way to release the stress of everyday life, and BaĆĄka provides the chance to pedal through some of the most beautiful landscapes ever.
Besides the 11 km-long trail from Zarok to Draga Baơćanska, which is suitable for beginners and families with children, there is a popular mountain bike route that leads to the "Moon Plateau". The reason behind its popularity becomes clear after some pedalling: despite the route's level of difficulty, there is a postcard view around every corner, as well as new vantage points from which to observe Baơka's many sights. The Church of St. John constitutes an unmissable stop, and is a place many will undoubtedly visit repeatedly: indeed, the view available from there is nothing short of magic, both in the morning and in the late afternoon.

To get to know the diverse underwater world of our sea, we recommend visiting the BaĆĄka Aquarium.
In the center of BaĆĄka, on an area of 200m2, you will find twenty-one aquariums and 35m3 of sea, with a wide variety of Adriatic fish (catfish, moray eels, lobster, dusky grouper, octopus ...) and one of the largest collections of the Adriatic shells and sea snails in Croatia!
A visit to the BaĆĄka Aquarium is a fun-filled activity for both adults and youngsters. Over 100 species of fish and 400 species of shellfish and sea snails guarantee a great time spent learning, enjoying and discovering the fascinating life of the Croatian underwater world.

The walk to the Moon Plateau never fails to make every visit to BaĆĄka truly unforgettable, as it offers access to one of BaĆĄka's most popular locations, as well as a unique experience of the local nature against the backdrop of a site of historical interest. The first part of the trail takes visitors to the Church of St. John the Baptist, in front of which there is a panoramic viewpoint; some of the most recognizable pictures of BaĆĄka, such as the stunning view of the BaĆĄka valley, the island of Prvić, the local blue sea, and BaĆĄka's iconographic Vela PlaĆŸa, were taken there.

The Glagolitic inscriptions are one of Baơka's trademarks and a significant part of its history; they are therefore essential for its cultural promotion. In order to make all visitors acquainted with the Glagolitic inscriptions in a more exciting way, the Sinjali Society for the promotion of Baơka's Culture, Ecology and Tradition launched the Baơka's Glagolitic Trail project, which was completed in 2009. Baơka's Glagolitic Trail develops through the local cobble-stoned streets and the area's extensive natural beauty. It is the best way to discover the history that shaped the town and all the Glagolitic letters that constitute both a local trademark and an invaluable cultural seal of Baơka’s history.
