This historical house was originally built in 1790 by local clergyman’s family, and is completely renovated in 2021.
The house is situated in the center of the old citadel of Hydra, (13 min walk from the port) on the foothills of mount Eros overlooking the picturesque town of Hydra and the clear blue waters of the Saronic Gulf.
Metochi House is the ideal place, where you can relax your body, mind and soul,
in total comfort and discrete luxury, away from the noise of Hydras beachfront.

Great relaxing vacation

Everything was as we hoped. The property manager is a great person who made everything she could to ensure that we have the vacation we needed. Σ' ευχαριστώ Μάρθα.

Be aware of the location

Very disappointing experience! Property is over 500 steps from the arrival port. House has many dangerous steps. Booked for 5 days but checked out after first night having suffered a bad fall. This location is NOT Seniors friendly. Even a donkey ride up or down is expensive and treacherous. We were charged for 3 nights even though stayed one night. Better description of location and access is recommended!!!! Not worth the price.

Absolutely stunning property and the best host

I could rate this property or moreover the host high enough. The property is beautifully old but the interiors have been completely redone to a very modern standard - practically brand new, extremely clean, bright and airy, powerful air conditioning, very fast WiFi (strong enough for me to ‘work from home’ hosting am several video calls and running multiple applications), double glazed windows with screens (practically no sound coming in when windows closed), blackout shutters and a very comfortable atmosphere. Brand new appliances as well, including an American style coffee maker and hair dryer (my two necessities). The property also has the most incredible views of the island - but it does come at a price. It’s about a 15-20 minutes walk up the mountain from the town. Must use donkey services for transporting luggage up and down. I didn’t mind the joke though, it was good exercise! The host, Martha, goes above and beyond. She has provided the most wonderful recommendations of beaches to visit, restaurants to eat it, places to go. She is so extremely helpful and gracious, and will happily make bookings on your behalf. She goes the extra mile to make sure you are comfortable and happy, and is one of the warmest people I’ve met. I plan to come back for a longer stay next summer and will stay in touch with wonderful Martha!
