A Medieval Apartment in a Castle in Umbria, the Green Heart of Italy

This nice, large apartment with exciting architecture is housed in the old defensive wall from the 13th century that surrounds Panicale and has a lovely old garden that was laid out in 1898 when the castle moat was filled. Here, the Cesarini family has pressed both grapes and olives, and until the 70s there were hens that provided the family with fresh eggs and chicken when grandmother was going to cook Sunday dinner.

The apartment got its name Bonaparte because part of the decor comes from Napoleon's brother Lucien Bonaparte thanks to a long friendship with his descendants. This includes the ornate marble frame for the stove in the entrance and a sofa that was in Lucien's home in Canino.

Despite its old history, there is no lack of modern convenience and recently the apartment was renovated. There is a spacious dining room with kitchenette, three bedrooms (one with a double bed, one with two separate beds and one with a single bed in the room leading to the garden). Washing machine, satellite TV and WIFI are of course in the apartment. In the garden, which is a gathering point for the family and any guests of la Principessa, there is a dining area and sun loungers in the sun and in the shade.

Larger families or group of friends who wants to stay together can rent Bonaparte with La Principessa which can be merged thanks to a door connecting the apartments.
