'The Barn', A large 4 person gite with pool, in a quiet and restful location
Comfortable 2 bedroom gite with a private pool, in a rural location, but close to ammenities.
Not far from the famous NW Dordogne riverside town of Brantome with itâs Imposing abbey, is the small village of St. Just, and here a quiet lane leads to the four properties which form the hamlet of La Roche Chabrelle
Our home, Maison la Roche (formerly 'Chez Hodgkiss'), is the last building before the lane becomes a track. This quiet hamlet is in an elevated position overlooking woods and farmland, with gentle walks all around.
Maison la Roche, comprises an old farmhouse and converted barn set in almost 2 acres of land.
The barn has been lovingly converted into a luxury two bedroom gite which is private from the main house, providing a tranquil and exclusive environment for the perfect French getaway. There are a wealth of exposed stone walls, oak floors and rustic beams. Decoration and furnishings have been chosen to provide comfort and convenience for your holiday. The barn is split level with four steps up from the living areas to the kitchen, bedrooms and bathroom.
The gite has its own sun terrace looking over the pool and woodland garden where there are lovely views over the valley
The post van is the total passing traffic, however we are not remote, being within easy reach of La Tour Blanche, Riberac, and Brantome with nearby shops and restaurants. Venturing further afield will take you to the lively departmental capital of Perigueux (30mins)or north to the vibrant city of AngoulĂšme (45mins)
Here is a place for relaxing and enjoying your home away from home, and as a base for exploring the surrounding area, either by foot, bicycle or car.

Annie and Chris Coombs Àr vÀrd
We are Chris and Annie Coombs and we bought this beautiful property in September 2021, a year after relocating to France from West Wales. We can't believe we've found an even slower pace of life here in the north of beautiful Dordogne. We love the lush wooded countryside that changes with the seasons and is as beautiful in the depths of Winter as it is when Spring finally arrives. We enjoy walking and spotting the varied wildlife here including elegant birds of prey, pretty groups of deer and plump otters in the ponds and streams.
Varför vÀrden valde detta boende
Maison la Roche is a beautiful stone built farmhouse, at the end of the chemin, in a small hamlet, La Roche Chabrelle, just outside Saint-Just. It would be hard to imagine a more peaceful and secluded place to spend a relaxing holiday. Spend a day exploring beautiful Brantome with its abbey and riverboat trips, or discover fresh seasonal fruit and vegetables and quirky brocante finds at the nearby weekly market in Riberac. Take a woodland walk or eat lunch or dinner in one of the excellent local restaurants.

Although we are next door should you need anything, the gite is very private and situated around the corner from the main house so you will enjoy a peaceful and undisturbed holiday to relax by the pool or go for a gentle stroll around the woodland garden, taking in the beautiful views over the valley.
