A lovely 5 bedroom newly refurbished property with a garden and private driveway local to Southgate station with 2 bathrooms and 3 toilets two living rooms can sleep up to 10 people, only a five minute walk to all shops and amenities and only 3 miles away to Alexandra palace, a 25 minute train journey into central London. A great space for friends and family to enjoy the best of London.

This semi-disaster of a "newly refurbished house" is the fault of VRBO...for two reasons. First, the property is still in the midst of being refurbished with a list of deficiencies that are too many to mention. Secondly, VRBO forced us to make a snap decision on this property because the host of our previously-booked location cancelled on us just 48 hours before we were arriving in England. VRBO promised to find us a replacement property but then, with less than 24 hours before our arrival in England, they informed us that we were on our own to find something else. I wish we could post videos our grandchildren took of this household's many defects...from a kitchen faucet that wobbles like a drunken sailor, to the battered blinds hanging over patio doors. And those same doors won't lock. The armoire in the front bedroom was stuffed with clothing and other belongings of a man who must have been told to vacate the room at the last moment. Stains on the entry carpet looked like someone had done an oil change on a motorycle in there. The owners of this property have carefully posted photos of the interior which avoid showing the numerous problems. There are missing bathroom mirrors and light fixtures, sticky surfaces, and a sky light in the attic bedroom with no shade (we literally had to use duct tape to hold it down). One positive thing: the house can sleep many people with its multiple bedrooms, and the Southgate tube station is a quick walk way with connections to London.

A short spicy stay in Southgate.

At first glance the property appeared a great find; clean, spacious and stunning bathrooms. It suited our needs for a birthday trip to London for a group of friends. We would be going to a Festival on the second day... perfect?! ...... What then transpired was a threatening interaction with the host - a Police car sighting on the street (which I later found out was for another residence in the street opposite) meant the host called us after 1am asking if we were causing a disturbance due to music etc. Granted, we had music playing from a small speaker inside, but nothing to warrant a Police visit. Then turning off our speaker, now concerned as the host may 'need to sort us out' and pay us a visit.... Next a gentleman protecting his face from the cold summer winds or rather 'ballyed up' - I can infer was a familiar of the host, approached a few of the guests who were on the street smoking and proceeded to reveal he was armed with a blade. He reassured my friends he had already done time and wasn't afraid to go back inside..... due to our bringing 'HEAT TO THE STREET'. Long story short - the first night we all slept soundly..... Except perhaps the undercurrent of impending injury, maiming or death. We really had a great time at the festival, the music was superb. Needless to say we were up and off by check out time on the morning of departure, leaving the house clean and tidy with rubbish all ready for the bin and swiftly away! Overall a great spot, just not sure on the neighbours.

Tengo que decir que las características de la casa son acordes al anuncio. Creo que, para 9 personas, haría falta un baño completo más. La distancia hasta el metro son 15 minutos. Si se pretende visitar el centro, la línea de metro es directa, pero la vuelta por la noche se nos hacía un poco larga. El jardín está bastante descuidado. La limpieza fue bastante deficiente (El suelo de la cocina estaba bastante sucio así como alguna de las habitaciones; el lavavajillas, sin sacar)

Great family house In quiet part of SouthGate

Great size Property for a big family. Good communication with owner Stephen who went out of this way to help us when we were locked out due to our own mistake. Washing machine, dishwasher and all other amenities needed for a family vacation. Good location for tube, buses and over ground and quick access to M25 or A406.
