Villa Sissi - Five Bedroom Villa, Sleeps 9
Soak up panoramic views from Villa Sissi's elevated position in the countryside close to the city of Trapani on the west coast of Sicily. Majestic Mount Erice can be seen, as well as the salt pans that cover the land near Trapani, which is a 10-minute drive away. Peaceful olive groves and rambling fields complete the rural picture.
Villa Sissi is a spacious, five-bedroom home that sits within lush gardens that offer a choice of spots for spending quality time with loved ones. Its tasteful accommodation is spread across three floors, with a highlight being the basement room with billiards table.
Some of the bedrooms open onto terraces for starting every morning with wonderful views. Each bedroom boasts either a hardwood or tile floor for traditional style that makes all of the bedrooms feel incredibly inviting.
The large sofa in the open-plan living/dining room is hard to resist sinking into after long days of sightseeing. As is sitting by the grand fireplace on cooler nights after enjoying a meal at the classic wood dining table. The soft, neutral shades of the furnishings are warmed up by pops of colour in the form of vibrant wall art.
Set into immaculate lawns is a pool terrace with large swimming pool for refreshing dips. You'll always find a quiet spot to unwind and appreciate the laid-back atmosphere and views, with a choice of sun loungers and covered seating areas. Al fresco meals cooked on the barbecue are especially unforgettable when accompanied by romantic sunset scenes.
Villa Sissi is a great base for exploring western Sicily's varied landscapes. The popular destinations of Marsala and Erice are both a short drive away, with the Egadi/Aegadian Islands easily reached from either Marsala or Trapani. Head to beautiful San Vito Lo Capo for a day out by the sea on a sandy beach.

Location:
Villa Sissi's peaceful setting in the countryside, with olive groves and fields covering the rural landscapes creates a private and tranquil atmosphere. There are also wineries close by for sampling the local produce, as well as a riding centre for idyllic horseback rides. A 15-minute walk along a country road or a 5-minute drive takes you to the nearest village with restaurants, shops, bars and supermarkets.
The city of Trapani (5km) can be reached by car in only 10 minutes. The much-restored old town is a gem to explore, as it bursts with Renaissance-era churches and informative museums. Also visit Piazza Mercato del Pesce, the site of the city's historic fish market. It's also often used as a place for cultural events and festivals.
Trapani is probably most known for its vast salt pans. Trapani and Paceco Salt Pans Nature Reserve (5km) lies just outside the city centre, with a museum and old salt-grinding windmills to take in. Being a nature reserve, it's home to a rich diversity of marsh plant life and many sea birds. The salt road takes you along the salt pans all the way to the coastal town of Marsala, which is famous for its wine.
Marsala (27km) itself is just over a 30-minute drive from the villa. The town's main draws, apart from its fortified Marsala wine, are ancient ruins and Stagnone Nature Reserve. The latter is another marine area with salt pans and windmills, with chances to spot birds such as flamingos. You can also reach the group of five small mountainous islands known as the Egadi/Aegadian Islands from Marsala or Trapani.
Head further north to other amazing spots on days out. These include the medieval village of Erice (16km) with its cobbled, winding streets, and the sandy beach in the seaside town of San Vito Lo Capo (38km).
