Sunray by Bloom Stays - a holiday let that sleeps 8 guests in 3 bedrooms

Welcome to Sunray: sleeps 8 in 3 bedrooms and 2 bath/shower rooms. Parking for 2 cars. Open pebble garden. Sea views!

Ground Floor - the home is single level

The entrance hall leads into a large open-plan living space, with separate spaces centred around an original salvaged Victorian carriage.
Family nook with sofa seating for 2 and a mini pool table with cues/balls.
The sitting room with TV, seating on sofas and chairs for 6. (within the carriage)
The dining area behind the carriage faces out over the shore and sea, with a wood burner and large family refectory table with two chairs and additional bench seating for 4-6.
The kitchen area is to one end of the carriage and offers a mix of commercial kitchen space and a vintage dresser - making for a really cool urban vibe and also extremely practical. Electric oven and hob, larder fridge and small freezer.

Parking is on the non-sea facing side, care to be taken when parking on the shingle. Strictly two cars.

1 travel cot available and high chair on request
Sunray welcomes up to 2 dogs, however as the property has no boundaries, please keep your dogs on a lead in the vicinity of the property. Please note a pet fee of ÂŁ35 per stay/week applies.
The property has direct access to the sea so please ensure children are supervised at all times.
A basket of logs is provided between the months of October - April (inclusive). If you require logs outside of these months please bring your own supply.

Second class carriages, First class accommodation.

Arrived late afternoon in a howling gale. What a delight to walk through the door to a warm, cosy and welcoming "Tardis" of Sunray Holiday Home. Everything about the house was excellent, really quirky railway carriages which may have been 2nd. and 3rd. class in their day but provided first class accommodation for up to eight people. Would we go back? most definitely. Pictures don't do it justice. The pool table provided a great deal of fun for the four of us in the evening. Pilot Inn about 2k away and Snack Shack about 1k were good value and friendly. Old Light House was open with 160+ steps to the top, the RNLI station really interesting places to visit. Used a navigation app on mobile to track passing vessels on way to exotic destination, Madeira, Caribbean, Panama, Hull, Grimsby. Great fun and look forward to next visit.

Lovely quirky spot

Really lovely property and location. Lots of character and very comfortable, we loved it. Customer service was also great and very responsive. A dishwasher/ washing machine would be a good addition, otherwise no complaints.

Uniquely beautiful, comfortable and well equipped home. Unmissable!

Our family of four plus our dog stayed at Sunray for a long weekend. The proximity to the sea and the nuclear power station made for a totally unique spectacle. Inside, the train carriage design and industrial kitchen were a big hit. Very comfortable beds and great water pressure in the shower. We really loved it here. Could be improved by new blinds - and I think the lack of washing machine and dishwasher would make a longer stay a bit tricky - but I would come back again and again. The pool table was also a brilliant addition !

Only lacking one thing plus something else

I have been visiting Dungeness since 1948 and have stayed at Sunray before. The location and ambience are without parallel but the absence of a washing machine is s big factor. bearing in mind that the property is very suitable for children Accidents happen and even for a few days stay this is essential. The other matter concerns the bedding. I, in common with many others, suffer from an allergy from synthetic perfumes and buy everything 'fragrance free'. The use of perfumed detergents and possibly conditioner meant that I suffered from itching and other hay fever-like symptoms. The TV advertisements referring to "10 times the freshness ingredient" merely means that one can cover up BO or whatever for longer.. As a retired scientist I believe that these additives may well have long-term health implications

Location stunning Cottage roomy and well appointed. However it all looked a little tired and the quirkiness masked a number of issues , such as blinds not working, window handles broken which suggested that it needed a bit of money spend to bring it up to the standard which I would have anticipated.

A Fabulous Break

We had an amazing stay at Sunray in Dungeness. The cottage was perfectly located right on the shingle beach, with beautiful views out to sea. It was a surprise weekend away for my husband’s birthday, shared with our family, and it couldn’t have been better. There was plenty of room for everyone, the beds were really comfortable, and everything we needed was provided. The outside space was lovely, and the pool table was a definite hit! It was such a peaceful, relaxing spot and a much-needed break for us all. Dungeness itself was fascinating to explore — we enjoyed walks around the local area and a visit to the Snack Shack, which was absolutely delicious. I would highly recommend Sunray to anyone looking for a unique, peaceful seaside getaway, and we’d love to return again soon.

A spacious escape

We loved sunray for our family group of 8 people. Only downside for us was the blinds that didn't pull down all the way, we had to makeshift one with a towel, so would be good to get those fixed in both the front bedrooms. Otherwise we loved it, we'll equipped, lots of space for everyone to relax and right on the beach.

Nice, not great

Needs a dishwasher. If you’re over six foot tall, avoid. Smacked my head about 20 times on low head heights between spaces.

Excellent place on the beach

We loved our stay here. Super cosy, wonderfully equipped and unique. Fantastic for families/kids- lots to entertain and for cooking this is perfect- very stocked kitchen. Beds very comfy and loved the wood burner. We will definitely be back! If there was one thing I’d ask is that the low parts oh hey ceilings were labelled a bit more obviously- my 6ft2 partner had a couple of accidents and so left with a sore head! But this would not stop us returning!!
