True Caribbean Gem! Surrounding by turquoise water and tropical landscapes this villa is one of a kind! The villa offers amazing panoramic views and expansive indoor and outdoor spaces with the pool offering a perfect spot to relax and take in this island paradise!! All the bedrooms offer private bathrooms with the outdoor shower being a real highlight for us! Our family enjoyed every moment at South Sound Villa and cannot recommend it highly enough. Being our first trip to Virgin Gorda it was a perfect balance of private luxury but close enough to take in all the island has to offer. We will be back!!

South Sound Villa is a wonderful place to be at anytime!! I love this home..cozy, caribbean large villa expansive and sooooo private from all...no one around for a few miles..yet easily accessible to all in 5 minutes..even take a ferry to the bitter end= or walk to the ferry.. this vacationis one for a lifetime..and you will want to come back every chance you get..beautiful beaches, best restaurants- Dix Bay...Devils cove and the Baths..dont miss out- you will love it..5-15 minute drive to pristine spots to explore- coal mine- savannahBay.. bitter end...the scenery is nothing you have ever scene before but everything you could imagine...enjoy snorkiling or kayaking in your own private beach..or relax pool side in scenery from every view...You will love this!! Go today!!

South Sound Villa - Virgin Gorda

We have been fortunate to be able to visit Virgin Gorda 8 times since 1984. The island, with its friendly people, gorgeous views, beautiful beaches, and, of course, the unique Baths, has maintained its slow-paced charm and is our favorite place for family vacations. Now there are 15 of us and South Sound Villa was the perfect spot for us to stay. The 6 bedrooms are located in two wings, so the late risers were separated from the young children in the mornings. The multiple porches and decks allowed those who wanted to be away from the gang for a while to do so. The large living area was an ideal place for everyone to be together. There was something to do for everyone - splashing in the pool, with its double waterfall, kayaking or snorkeling off the dock, exploring the bay in the dinghy, or just finding a quiet place to read. The incredible views from every window and the brilliant rainbows following brief showers were the icing on the cake. The owner, Thorsten Cook, was a pleasure to deal with. We can’t wait to return to Virgin Gorda and South Sound Villa. Susan and Rob

South Sound Villa-Fantastic !

I just returned from a 7 night stay at South Sound Villa on Virgin Gorda. The setting is spectacular!! The owner, Thorsten Cook ,did an outstanding job choosing this location,with the villa looking out to the east with tradewinds constantly cooling you. No need for airconditioning!!The villa is perched on Matties point in south sound just a few minutes from leverick bay,but this is the only home in the entire expansive bay!!!! It is protected with a mile long coral reef seperating you from the atlantic. Snorkeling is great!! The villa has 6 rooms and I believe 5 baths-I lose track !! Everything you need is here,and close to leverick bay for dive charters and restaurants and leverick yaught club or the bitter end etc.I looked on VRBO for several months with consideration of all properties in the bvi, also looked at properties in cayman islands and bonaire. This is the property I chose, and no regrets. Thorsten was very truthful and helped with arranging car rental as well as suggestions for ferry service as well as shopping suggestions.His support staff were very pleasant and we chose to do all our own cooking,yet Lydia would have been happy to help with meal preparation.This was my first trip back to the bvi in 24 years-if you are thinking of a trip to paradise,please concider thorstens' South Sound Villa!!

Paradise in Cribbean waters which surround you her

Amazing scenary..Such a beautiful colorful Place..The home is pink- and we all know Pink is Fabulous!! Just a splendid overall experience relaxing on the hammock, taking the dingy along the shoreline and snorkling along our own private inlet..The towns Leverick bay and Spanish town are Great..Lots of Great restaurants..but the home is fully equiped for cooking and BBQ if you choose to stay in I highly recommend this rental..One of a kind privacy and amazing scenary!! LOVED!!

My favorite location on the planet!

We have traveled all over and Virgin Gorda is absolutely our favorite place to vacation. The location of this villa offers some of the best of what Virgin Gorda has to offer. The views are amazing from every room. We love to sit on the porch and watch the birds, turtles, and fish down in the water. The snorkeling and scuba diving from the private dock is amazing.

Beautiful spot to relax and play

We had a great stay at this villa and had our granddaughter and a friend visit, too. We "older" folks loved lounging on the large deck, lazing around the pool, swimming, kayaking while the younger adults enjoyed exploring the night life on the island, too. The villa has lots of decks - each one of us could have had their own! The scenery is gorgeous, the breezes wonderful. It's quick to get to shopping, restaurants, the Baths, other beaches. Definitely worth a repeat visit.

Amazing stay!

We were torn between Virgin Gorda and Tortola and were so happy with our decision. The house is everything in the description and more. From the very first contact with Thorsten, everything went smoothly. He patiently answered our questions, booked our rental car and was always available for assistance. The house is clean and very roomy. We had ample room for our group to spread out. The beds were so comfortable and the location was secluded yet close to everything. Anything you will need is already in the house. We spent hours in the pool and the hammocks. Our stay was simoly spectacular, and we came home with incredible memories. If you're still searching- look no further. This is the place!

Heaven on earth

This was our second visit to south sound and its beginning to feel like home. The house was in perfect condition when we arrived. Mr cook added a new refrigerator and a new boat. The views from the estate are breathtaking. We are starting to get to know the citizens who make us feel like neighbors. It's really hard to describe this property except "heaven on earth". Thanks Mr Cook for another wonderful week. Hope to see you next year!!!!

HEAVEN ON EARTH

This was our second time at South Sound Villa and it now seems like home. The views from the estate are breathtaking. The owner added a new refrigerator and a new boat this year. The house was in perfect shape when we arrived. We are getting to know the people in town who make us feel like part of neighborhood. Sometimes its hard to describe how beautiful this property really is. The only way I can explain it is "HEAVEN ON EARTH"!!!!!! Thanks Mr Cook for letting us enjoy this wonderful place. Our 2cd Time and we have already booked next year!!!!!!

Once again our stay at South Sound Villa was fantastic! There was a total of 5 of us. We celebrated my daughter's 20th birthday. There are plenty of places to relax by yourself or as a group. The constant ocean breezes and tranquility were amazing. What is listed here on the website about the Villa is exactly what you get, actually the pictures do not do it justice it is better. The views from every room of this villa are just unbelievable. From every room you can hear the ocean and feel the breezes from the ocean as you fall asleep. Wonderful.The caretakers Lynda and Liston are just great she called and stopped in to check on us, and whatever our need they fulfilled. We stayed here last year and were pleasantly surprised at the improvements that were made (it was already perfect), a new refrigerator with ice maker, new kitchen items like silverware etc., repainted, new chair hammock (which everyone loved and was in constant use), new boat and motor, updated sound system and new screens, just to mention a few!! We now have made friends in town with restaurant owners and townspeople. It truly feels like home. We again had 2 locals go into the sound off the dock and catch our dinner-LOBSTERS!! The owner Thornsten could not be nicer he helps with renting your SUV, restaurant recommendations and actually any thing you need. If you are looking to stay in the Virgin Islands this is the only place to stay. I HIGHLY Recommend it to anyone, period!!!!!

The single seat hammock was such a hit with my grandchildren that 2 of them now have a copy in their home bedrooms. They called me and asked where I had bought it. South sound Villa..Is a magnificent location and dream home..cozy, picturesque, private- you will feel like you escaped to your very own island- yet 5 minutes to town and beaches--even take a ferry to the Bitter End just 5 minutes away..Private Villa has a great patio area with pool- so if you done want to explore your private beach..no need to- but great knowing you have the very best of both worlds on site! Well equipped kitchen to do gourmet cooking- or close to top notch restaurants at Leverick bay or Spanish town-Little Dix's..Everything and more is in store for you here- I love it and go twice a year..wish I could go once a month!! great family reunion

16 members of our family met here to spend 8 days. we loved the villa and the location. The trip in through rural farm land was the best. we loved the cows and goats. The bedrooms were nicely furnished and spread throught the villa so we were not on top of each other. Each family took turns cooking dinner in the well stocked kitchen.The view was quite beatiful and we loved the pool.The bay was great for snorkeling and scuba diving. My son had a sighting of a 6 foot friendly shark. Virgin Gorda is one of our favorite places.A trip to the Baths is a must see. We also liked Jumby's bar at Leverick Bay where we spent our last night at a wonderful buffet dinner.We did alot of kayaking in the bay. The owner was easy to reach if we needed anything and even took us for a lovely boat ride. The island is quite lovely and there are many good restaurants.Our family has not stopped talking about the trip.

A beautiful oasis! You feel like you're on a movie set because it doesn't feel real. The house is surrounded by crystal blue water on 3 sides. Whether you're in the pool, down at the water or taking it all in from the porch, you can't help but to just feel calm and take in the wonderful world around you! I love South Sound Villa!

I have been to South Sound Villa several times, and every time I have had a fantastic experience! The views from the villa are absolutely breathtaking, and the surroundings are so peaceful. We were able to snorkle, right at the house, and saw the most sea life there of anywhere on the island. We even saw rays jumping out of the water! The house had kayaks for us to use to explore further. The house was equipped with everything we needed to prepare our meals at the house - a full kitchen stocked with pots, pans, etc. - as well as an outdoor grill. It was great to be able to cook dinner under the stars! We were able to reach nearby beaches easily from the house as well. I highly recommend staying at South Sound Villa - it will be a vacation you will never forget!

Not as expected

My husband and I went to South Sound Villa for our honeymoon. I have to say the location of the house and the views from the deck and porch are great. On the other hand the majority of the ad posted is false. The boat, kayaks, scuba diving gear, and generator do not work. The boat was sunk into the water ( had a huge hole in it) and the motor was so rusty it would have never started. The owner did not have the cistern filled before our arrival, so we ran out of water and were not able to take showers for three days. I ended up cleaning the house while on vacation as there was so many dead bugs and lizard poop every where. All the screens on the windows have huge holes in them so if it gets warm and you want to open the windows expected some visitors. I got the extra insurance offered through the website and they were not helpful in providing us with assistance, even though the property was misrepresented. The pictures posted online are form 10+ years ago. The home is getting run down and really needs an over haul. The refrigerator leaks constantly and can barley keep a cool temp. Most of the kitchen appliances either did not work or were not is usable condition. The sound system works sometimes, the TV turned on and he grill worked as well. The pool leaked water so it could not be filled all the way. Not like we could have since we ran out of water. I would recommend this place if you are able to discount on the price or if you had a large party of people and want to have a party. If you are expecting luxury or want to use the equipment listed I would not recommend this place at all.

I would like to respond to this review as follows: 1) The dinghy and engine were sunk by a previous renter and required repair and replacement of the engine. This being done. Our contract clearly states that the dinghy and engine are complementary and we do our best to keep them operational. 2) The 3 kayaks are in good shape and there are paddles available. 3) The generator does work but is to be used and operated only by our staff because of liability issues. 4) The scuba equipment is to be used only by persons who are licensed. Some of the equipment was out for repair and some of the tanks were out for checkout. This renter did not provide me with the appropriate licenses and should not have been using the equipment. 5)The refrigerator has been replaced with a new GE 26" side by side. 6) I checked out all of the other appliances and found them fully operational and in good shape. 7) The sound amplifier has been replaced. 8) The pool is not leaking ,however our staff does add water to make up for evaporation. 9) When I was made aware there was a problem with the water level , we brought in water the same day. 10) There were 4 of 40 screens that required repair and this is underway. The holes that were described by the renter as being huge were in most cases very small. The largest hole was 1X1 inch, not exactly huge. We try to be as responsive as possible to our guests. We are constantly painting, repairing and up-grading the villa. I will speak to the staff about making sure the villa is clean. However lizards etc are part of the tropics. Since I wrote my original response I have repaired the dingy and replaced the engine. I have also replaced the refrigerator even though the one that was there was still working. The screens have all been repaired. I have also repaired/renewed the outdoor furniture. A new gas BBQ grill is in place along with tools. The generator was working, when the renter was there, although it is to be used only by our staff. All of the scuba equipment has been checked, certified and repaired.

What is listed here on the website about the Villa is exactly what you get. We brought sun screen and googles but we did not need to there was plenty at the villa. The views from every room of this villa are just unbelievable. At night laying in bed you can hear the ocean and feel the breezes from the ocean as you fall asleep. Wonderful.The caretaker Lynda was great she called and stopped in to check on us, and whatever I need she fulfilled. The owner was great with everything including transportation to the villa, which ferry to take and restaurants. thank you I would reccommend this fantasic villa to ANYONE. We plan on returning next year.

Just came back from a week at the South Sound Villa and it was everything we were promised and exactly what we were looking for. Very secluded, comfortable, and private. The pool is amazing. Kayaking and snorkeling in the sound was perfect. Would highly recommend this vacation for total privacy and seclusion. Easy to get to for a remote vacation and the islanders are very friendly to tourist.

Vacation in Paradise!

I have been to South Sound Villa several times now, and my most recent trip was as wonderful as always! There are breathtaking views from the house of the water and flowers. We went snorkeling right at the house and saw tons of fish. We also went kayaking near the house and saw even more wildlife, including a sting ray jumping out of the water! The house had everything we needed to cook meals at home, which made it very tempting to never leave the villa. The house was in such serene and isolated surroundings that the vacation was very relaxing. I highly recommend it!

My family just returned from 2 weeks at the South Sound Villa, we had 6 adults and 3 children. The villa was perfect,a mile from civilisation, we were able to make noise and generally enjoy ourselves. The villa provided everything we needed for a perfect vaction, nice kitchen well equipped, beautiful veranda for watching the turtles and hanging out and enjoying the breeze,.We used the boat to visit Hurricane Hole and a beach across the bay. Snorkelling from the dock was fantastic, some of the best on the island.All in all we had a great time, Virgin Gorda is a nice island to visit and the villa added to the pleasure. We will be back.

What an awesome place! M...

What an awesome place! My husband & I just returned from a ten day stay at South Sound Villa and found it to be the perfect place to unplug from the world and enjoy peace, tranquility and solitude. The house is one mile off of the main road and sits out on a point, providing you with beautiful views and constant breezes. The house is very thoughtfully layed out, providing guest with places to be together with their group and with private places perfect for two. The house is very well equipped. It has everything that you could ever need. We had a blast exploring the Sound in the dingy and snorkeling off of the dock. At night we were lulled to sleep by the sound of the breaking waves out on the reef and the warm tropical breeze. There is not one thing that I can think of that would improve on our stay at South Sound Villa. We enjoyed time in the hammock, afternoons in the private pool, grilling out on the porch, and picking fresh limes from the lime tree to use in our cooking. The villa has blow dryers (one less thing to pack), binoculars (we used them to watch the turtles in the Sound in the afternoons), telescopes to view the evening sky, kayaks, floats for use in the pool, and lots of beach towels for your use. Everything was thought of in advance and was there for our use.......... absolute perfection. This has to be one of the best villas that we have ever stayed in. We hope to be back! Highly recommended.

We had a group of 15 that...

We had a group of 15 that stayed at South Sound from June 21-28...it was wonderful! The villa was great and the views were even better. Our group of 15 was very comfortable and had plenty of space to get away from the crowd. My husband and I have been to St John 4 times and Virgin Gorda 3 times and I have to say this was by far the best location of them all! Dennis and Lydia were so helpful and sincerely concerned about us and ensuring that we have everything we needed. June 28th was a sad day...leaving the villa and the island was not easy. I highly recommend South Sound and Virgin Gorda.

We had such a great time at the villa two weeks ago. We had great weather, food and saw so many cool fish at the dock. We rented a boat for the day with Lydia's friend Benu, and ate at Puck's restaurant. Saw and did so many new things, I could not get to write in the journal but would like to email you this entry. Thank you so much and we are ready to get our reservation in for next year we had so much fun and great weather. My kids snorkeled twice a day maybe more at your cove, The Baths, Spring Bay, The Caves, Indians, Wreck of the Rhone, and others. The pool was awesome and the sunsets, sunrises and stars unbelievable. Thank you for helping us experience this incredible place. Helen, Ed, Harry, Ian and Emma
