Melody House and Melody Cottage date back to the early 14th century, originally serving as Gt Ryburgh Magnarâs Guild Hall under the priory of Walsingham. Nestled along the scenic River Wensum and just 200 yards from the famous Saxon church with its round tower, the property has a rich and fascinating past.
Over the centuries, it survived fires, renovations, and even the window tax, eventually being divided into nine charming cottages. For nearly 400 years, it also housed the villageâs provision stores and small shops.
Local folklore whispers of hidden priestâs stairs, underground tunnels, and the occasional mysterious bump in the night, adding a touch of magic to this historic retreat.
