With traditional dressed stone construction, the history of the property is evident in the interior décor. The lounge space features two large comfortable sofas focused around a stunning stone fireplace with an inviting log burner. The perfect space for getting cosy during the warmer months. A side unit and coffee table are in a modern style, with an LED TV located on the shelf in the corner. Exposed wooden beams at high level are a reminder of the history of the building, and a large Welsh dresser on the opposite wall provide a nod to the traditional feel of the building. Pale wooden flooring leads through the room into the dining and kitchen area. L shaped kitchen units are located to the rear of the space, finished in a modern grey with a dark grey tiled splashback. An electric oven with hob over sit alongside a built-in dishwasher and fridge freezer. A kettle and microwave are included and there is plenty of worktop space and cupboard storage for self-catering guests.
French doors from the kitchen area lead out to a private and secluded deck area which sits above the Afon Goch (Red River), which runs along the rear of the property into the nearby Llyn Padarn. The deck area is stunning with rattan lounge furniture located next to an inviting hot tub, perfect for relaxing summer evenings after a day out exploring. Steps lead down to a patio area which includes outdoor dining furniture for al fresco dining. Surrounded by woodland, and the trickle of the river below, it's a fabulous spot to relax.
Both double bedrooms of this quaint cottage in the heart of Eryri are accessed through a third bedroom featuring a set of bunks and some seating, which is an ideal space for smaller children. A bookshelf full of books and games will also keep the older ones occupied. The first double room features a wooden framed bed, alongside bedside cabinet, tall chest of drawers, wardrobe, side chair and dressing table. Soft furnishings are in shades of pink including cushions, a throw on the bed and curtains. It's a bright room with a large window allowing in plenty of natural light. The second double is similarly decorated, but with shades of blue in the décor. Bedside cabinets with lamps sit either side of the bed with fabric headboard, alongside a wardrobe, two chests of drawers and side chair. The large family bathroom has a modern feel with floor to ceiling wall tiles finished in a grey colour. A large walk in shower cubicle includes a rain forest and hand held shower head. The basin is built into a vanity unit with ample storage space for toiletries for all guests.

Hikers will be keen to take the epic hike up Yr Wyddfa along the Llanberis path, which begins on the outskirts of the town. Walking is not the only option - the Yr Wyddfa Mountain Railway station is a ten minute walk from the property, and transports passengers three quarters of the way up the mountain to Clogwyn Station. There is the opportunity to walk the remainder of the route from here, or take the more relaxing journey back by train, enjoying the epic surrounding scenery.
To learn about the heritage of the local slate landscape, recently awarded UNESCO World Heritage status, the National Slate Museum is located on the opposite side of Llyn Padarn. Entry to the museum is free and it's a great day out for all the family, and a fabulous learning experience for all. While you're over the other side of the lake, take the Zig Zag Path up to the Dinorwic Quarry and see the remains of the old quarry buildings including Anglesey Barracks - two rows of cottages that were home to miners working in the quarry. It's a fascinating place, and offers awesome views across to Yr Wyddfa, Llyn Peris and Llyn Padarn. You might even spot the remains of Dolbadarn Castle down below, built in the thirteenth century by Llywelyn the Great.
The lakeside setting of Llanberis makes it popular with water sports lovers and is a hub for numerous outdoor sporting events in the summer. Llyn Padarn is a fantastic spot for kayaking or Stand Up Paddleboarding, and there are opportunities to hire the equipment locally and get out on the water. It's a safe setting for those less confident, with some shallow and calm inlets on the lake which are ideal for practicing. Once all the activities are done, Llanberis is packed full of vibrant and independent cafes, shops and pubs making it the ideal place to chill out after a day out exploring on the mountains, or in the water. The perfect base for a North Wales mountain holiday.
