It was a wonderful property. The location was perfect, close to town, close to campus. Great fenced in yard. Patrick was easy to communicate with and we had no issues.

Fabulous large family home.

This is a beautiful large, historic home in the heart of Lewisburg. We had a big family gathering with 10 people and 2 dogs. We all had space to get away and space to gather together. It was perfect. Elegant and comfortable. Great kitchen. Big back yard and patio. Host was very responsive. Highly recommend.

WVSOM Graduation 2021

When researching properties for my son's graduation, I needed a large property and was hoping for close proximity to downtown Lewisburg. The Holt House absolutely delivered. It is charaming older home and we loved it. The owner Patrick was a pleasure to work with on this rental. Would absolutely recommend at stay at this home!

Great historic house with plenty of room for the family

This was a great historic with plenty of room for the family of 10 that were staying together. The yard was a great place for our Easter egg hunt. The bathrooms were a bit old and could use a little TLC but the kitchen was updated and the most well stocked rental kitchen ever. The location was great but the noise level from the street and the thin old windows made it difficult to sleep. Fortunately I took my sound machine but others in the family did not and wished they had one. We truly enjoyed our stay and were sad to go .

property was very comfortable (excepting the fact that it took nearly 36 hours to raise the temperature of the house on arrival from 55 degrees to approximately 68/70 degrees); location and proximity to town center was convenient and within walking distance offering interesting diversions; regrettably, traffic adjacent to the house was unrelenting, noisy, and distracted from an otherwise enjoyable experience.regardless of the foregoing, Holt House is recommended for a large group seeking to gather in a comfortable, cozy, and enjoyable location whilst keeping privacy when needed.

Fun historic house that was perfect for our family

The owners were very friendly and very responsive to questions. Our trip had 2 families with small children and there was tons of space for them to nap and sleep away from noise as well play. The outdoor backyard was huge and lovely with lots of trees around. It was very pretty and there was a huge honeysuckle that smelled fantastic. The bathrooms are a little rustic, but they all worked and it was convenient to have so many. I would recommend if you travel with a lot of things to plug in, a power strip might be handy as there are limited outlets in the bedrooms. The beds were all comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed to cook at the house. We really enjoyed our stay and the space we had was fantastic.

Historical Ambience

Take a trip back in time in this wonderful historic home. If only the walls could talk. The property was well maintained, clean, and had every essential you could think of. Nice touch with the warm, white, thick, cozy robes for the cold nights and mornings. The host was easy to reach for any questions. We so loved the area and downtown shops and great food that was available as choices when going out. The rooms were large, beds were very comfortable and the kitchen was awesome. The yard was very beautiful as well sitting out back. Thank you so much. We would definitely like to return here again in the near future.

Lovely home in Lewisburg

We (87 year old father, adult children and partners, and three adult granddaughters) have stayed at countless VRBO and other vacation rental homes—large and small—over the years, and the Holt House is by far the loveliest and most gracious of them all. The house is beautifully decorated and supremely comfortable. There are working fireplaces in four rooms, and during the cold spell over the Christmas holiday (temperatures below 10 degrees), we used them all. Patrick, the owner, kindly provided kindling and a cord of dry wood for our week at the house. We started each morning with a fire in the massive kitchen fireplace and gathered around the big breakfast table for a meal. We had dinners in the lovely dining room, and then retired either to the living room with its large fireplace and two ample sofas for Scrabble and other games or to the study and a fireplace there for a movie. The beds are wonderful with excellent linens and quilts and comforters. There is a huge back yard behind the house and a large patio strung with lights (perfect for a croquet game and cocktails, I would think), but it was far too cold for us to enjoy this area during our visit. We spent our days walking on the Greenbrier Trail along the ice-choked river, wandering around the Greenbrier Resort, and browsing the wonderful shops in downtown Lewisburg before stopping for drinks at the General Lewis Hotel on the short walk home. Both Patrick and Carlena, the property manager, were immediately available to answer questions and could not have been more welcoming. Our stay at The Holt House was just truly splendid!

Wonderful stay!

Holt House was the perfect setting for our family to gather to celebrate our son’s graduation from WVSOM last weekend! The home is welcoming, comfortable, clean and large enough to accommodate our big family. The patio and outdoor area is wonderful and was enjoyed by all. The location is perfect in respect to downtown and the school. We’re so happy that we were able to rent this property for graduation! Patrick was very accommodating to us and easy to communicate with. He is a super host and we would definitely recommend Holt House to others.

Wonderful stay…. With our daughters wedding and people traveling from 26 states was so nice to have a place for family and friends stop by and enjoy this comfortable home with us. West Virginia is so beautiful and Greenbrier county is full of amazing history. Grateful for the Shea’s sharing their Happy Place.

Beautifully restored Historic Holt House

A group of 10 family and friends had a wonderful time staying in this historic "Holt Home". It was nicely appointed with updated kitchen and lovely new outside covered porch area with new outdoor table/chairs. Bedrooms large with comfortable beds and nice linens. Plenty of room in this historic house with multiple other rooms to enjoy during the stay. Within walking distance to Lewisburg which is a quaint town with many great restaurants and shopping. Enjoyed a wonderful dinner at the French Goat and Thunderbird Tacos along with lunch at Del Sol Mexican Restaurant. Enjoyed a day exploring the New River Gorge area with bridge walking tour, boat ride up to view the New River Bridge and a visit to an old mining/railroad town of Thurmond. Spent a day at Greenbrier Resort taking the informative historic walking tour and the bunker tour. Beautiful resort but so glad we decided to rent this house and stay in Lewisburg. It offers much larger accommodations for a much better price. The owner, Patrick, was easy to communicate with via email, text or phone conversations. He offered good advice on restaurants and activities. He checked in with us to make sure everything was to our satisfaction. Highly, highly recommend renting this lovely mansion.

Fabulous house for a grouop

Lewisburg is such a special place with access to so many fun things to do. This house is in a prime location and has had several spaces renovated - great kitchen and back patio. The house is great for groups - plenty of space, clean and the owner is very responsive.

Incredible home

We initially booked this large home so that all of our family could stay together while attending a wedding at the Greenbrier. Unfortunately, not all of our family could attend due to unforeseen circumstances. I am so glad we kept the reservation in spite of the smaller number gathering because this home is an absolute gem. Lots of rooms to spread out in, incredible kitchen, very comfy beds, and an outdoor space that is beautiful and relaxing. We intend to come back again when everyone can be together. This home is perfect for a large family gathering and is a convenient five minute walk to Lewisburg restaurants and shops. Would be a wonderful fall destination for leaf-peeping as well as a Christmas visit to see Lewisburg and the Greenbrier decorated for the holidays.

Holt House

If you enjoy older homes, this one is a true treat! Built in 1833, it is a piece of history. The owner is lovely to work with and ensures you have everything you need for your stay. Most of the house is older (and charming) but the kitchen was just updated last year so you are working with modern appliances and an floor plan open to the large breakfast dining table, complete with fireplace. You are a quick walk into the town of Lewisburg and a short drive to the Greenbrier Hotel and any other amenities you may need throughout your stay. Highly recommend!

Christmas Celebration

My sisters and I, along with our families, gathered in Lewisburg to celebrate Christmas. The house was perfect to host a large group in, and we stayed in the house most of our visit due to the pandemic. Plenty of room to play board games, hang out, and have meals together. Some of our adult children stayed at The General Lewis at night which is within walking distance. All of meals were purchased from caterers in Lewisburg who brought them to the house. It was a wonderful place to have a family gathering!

Graduation weekend

The property was huge and very accommodating for me and my 3 children and their families. We had a gathering here after graduation and the refrigerator and dishwasher were a bit small to efficiently take care of all of the food, beverages and then the dirty dishes. The large dining areas and tables were a great asset, however and a good time was had by all! Thank you!

Charming and Historic old home which has been renovated. Nicely furnished.

We were in Lewisburg WV for graduation exercises of the WVSOM. This house was ideal for our entire family to stay together. The 5 bedrooms have either king or queen beds which were incredibly comfortable. The dining room easily seats 10. The kitchen was well equipped which is high praise coming from a family that loves to cook. The only negatives are a very small dishwasher and there was some food left in the refrigerator. The owner and onsite manager were pleasant. Would definitely return.

Old house charm with comfortable and updated amenities. Close to town for shopping & resturants.

We stayed at the home for a girls weekend. Thoroughly enjoyed it. The home was clean and had wonderful living areas. It had the wonderful charm of an old house with large rooms and many fireplaces throughout the house. Comfortable sleeping areas with many bathrooms. Even though there were many women staying in the house, the three full baths and 3 half baths worked for us. We had wonderful weather during our stay and were able to use the outside table and chairs for our dinner one evening. With the house being on a corner lot, the traffic can be noisy but we got use to it. We loved the town of Lewisburg and it’s shops and restaurants along with our trip to the Greenbrier Resort. We definitely would like to return!
