The village centre, with its stone cottages and Victorian houses, boasts good facilities, with a pub, two local shops, a quaint tea room, a hairdressers and a beauty salon. Surrounded by rolling hills and beautiful countryside, with thousands of hectares of moors and forest, it makes the perfect place to stay, with numerous public footpaths and the well-known Scalby Beck, which winds its way to the coast. A weekly farmers market is held in the grounds of St. Lawrence’s Church Rooms, selling local produce.
