Take a scenic walk along the coast path to spots like Morte Pointe (1.5 miles) and Baggy Point (6 miles) to get away from the crowds and find tranquillity in the soothing sea views. To increase your chances of viewing the local wildlife, head to Ilfracombe (5 miles) and board a boat trip to Lundy Island, home to an impressive selection of sea life. Further afield, the towns of Lynton and Lynmouth (20 miles) are fab for days off – you can travel between the two on the steepest water-powered funicular railway in the world.
