Worst stay of our vacation
Lessons were learned with this stay. Pictures online were accurate and ratings were good. Thatâs about where the listing ended. We had 6 people and caught a taxi from Waverly. It was a 30 minute drive. The house smelled of mildew and there were water stains on the wall in the kitchen, which we overlooked at first. We tried to work with the central heat to increase the temp, but even after googling the instructions never got it to go above 19 C (66 F). I reached out to ask about the heat and maintenance came while we were exploring Edinburgh. It did not fix the issue, but it did result in the loss of hot water the next day. We again were out on a tour and after sending multiple messages on the status did not get a reply. We retuned to the house and found we had hot water again, but by then the grandparents and teenagers had had enough. It became obvious that the mildew smell, stains, heat and water are all a related issue with the house. We also noticed that there were fingernail clippings on the floor, which led to wonder how well it had been cleaned. I do not feel like we are overly fussy, but we had so many issues we left early and checked into a hotel. Additionally if you are looking to explore, Edinburgh this place is not close at all. Travel by train is at least 40 both ways and it is difficult to get taxis. If you chose this location, rent a car.
