And yet, descend the hills where the "Whispers of the Vines" farmhouse (entirely restructured to a high standard in 2024) is set and you will find charming medieval stone built villages and stunning Romans remains in Vaison la Romaine itself. Here its stunning Roman amphitheater is still in use today for dance shows and concerts.
The hills of this area of Provence are famous for their wonderful cycling paths that can take you to the peak of nearby Mont Ventoux at 1910 meters above sea level.
